Chapter Four

''Woah, you're quite the drinker!'' Alex yelled over the music blaring in the club. I knew I shouldn't be here, but I missed Alex so much and wanted to be with him for as long as possible.

I nodded, narrowing my eyes at the sourness of the shot I just threw back, ''Yeah, I used to drink with Sarah sometimes,'' Wow, that was a terrible excuse. If I'm honest, I never drank and I certainly wasn't used to this. I needed to numb myself, forget about the fact that after tonight, I'd probably be on the streets.

''Where's Jack?'' I asked, my eyes searching through the crowd of dancing teenagers.

''I don't know,'' Alex laughs, finishing off his beer, ''Don't worry, he usually disappears off at these kind of parties, he's probably throwing up somewhere right now.''

My stomach flipped from laughing so much, making me gag and grab my stomach. Alcohol isn't for everybody, Joce. I told myself.

''You alright?'' Alex frowned, putting his hand on my shoulder.

I nodded, closing my eyes and scrunching up my face to hold back the tears. My stomach was on fire and so was my throat, I wasn't too sure about this feeling; was I going to throw up? ''You're not used to drinking, are you?'' Alex interrupted my thoughts, grinning slightly.

I shook my head honestly. ''Don't drink anymore, alright?'' He suggested, and for the sake of my liver, I agreed.

After a couple of minutes of me struggling to speak to Alex, he finally suggested something helpful. ''You wanna go outside, get some air?'' I nodded and he held out his hand, which I gladly took.

Everything was a lot quieter outside; there were only a few people outside and they were either throwing up, leaving or passed out on benches. Alex lead me to an unoccupied bench and sat us down there. My ears were still ringing slightly from the sudden absence of the music playing inside, which was at an eardrum-bursting volume, might I say.

Being sat here with Alex alone was super awkward, if I'm honest. I felt a shiver run up the back of my spine and he spoke up, ''Are you cold?''

''Uh, n-no,'' I shivered. I'm lying, I know.

''Yeah you are,'' he chuckled, pulling off his glamour kills hoodie and putting it over my shoulders. At that moment, I could have both died and melted. I didn't like being touched, even if it was Alex Gaskarth himself.

I wanted to say thank you, but I couldn't speak. I had a lump in my throat like I'd dry swallowed a pill or something, tears were threatening to spill from my eyes. Why am tearing up?! Joce, don't you dare fucking cry! I don't think Alex noticed, though. He looked slightly tipsy, but not full on drunk, like Jack probably would be, wherever he is. ''Did things get any better?''

I cleared my throat, praying my voice wouldn't crack mid-sentence. ''What?'' I managed.

''You know, since you first met me. You're not still bullied, are you?'' He looks me in the eyes and I swore I got lost in them.

''No, I'm not at school anymore, of course,'' I smiled weakly.

''Oh yeah, it's different here in England, I forgot.''

''The main one, who used to bully me the most, got pregnant,'' I sniggered, thinking about her. Emily Brooks, the once popular, perfect, skinny favourite of our whole school got pregnant. At first, everyone took it well, congratulating her and showering her with gifts for her baby. But things just got worse for her, they started calling her a slut and whore and anything they could think of, and she eventually broke. One day she didn't show up, then she never came back.

''So, I'm guessing things got better, right?'' Alex's tone of voice sounded hopeful, I wish I could tell him he was right.

I shrugged my shoulders, looking down.

''Joce?''

''Aren't you supposed to be drunk?'' I laughed halfheartedly, trying to distract him.

''Jocelyn, you can tell me anyth-''

''HEY GUYS!'' I heard a familiar voice coming towards us. Both Alex and I turn around to see an extremely hammered Jack stumbling towards us.

Alex shook his head and tried to continue our conversation. Instead I just cut him off and turned my attention towards Jack, who was making an effort to stand still. ''Jack! How's your night been?'' I laughed at how drunk he was.

''It has - It has been gr-great,'' He slurred, sitting on the other side of the bench, next to me. ''What about you? Birthday girl!'' He cheered and I took out my phone, checking the time.

1:47 AM.

''My night's been great Jack, but it's not quite my birthday anymore,'' I sighed, almost having a heart attack when I saw I had 42 missed calls and over a hundred messages from Sarah and probably some of those were from Jessica too. I decided to do what I'd been doing all night, avoid them.

''Don't you think you should call them back?'' said Alex.

''No, it's fine, I told them I'd be back late,'' I lied.

''Hey I hadn't - I hadn't n-noticed before, b-but Joce, that's one wi-wicked bruise you got on your face there,'' Jack pointed at my cheek, him and Alex leaning in closer to look at it.

''Oh it's nothing, don't ever wrestle with Sarah over her eyeliner,'' God, tonight I was just a sack full of lies.

- About an hour later.

''You are so much fun, Jocelyn!'' Jack yelled.

Somehow we'd all ended up back inside this club and even though it was about 3 o'clock in the morning, people still knew how to party like rock stars! Wow, that's the stupidest thing I've ever said, maybe I was a little more drunk than I thought.

''You are too Jackie-Chan!'' I cried with laughter as they both gave me questioning looks at the nickname I'd given him. I stopped, looked at them again, then laughed even harder.

''Okay someone's drunk!'' Alex laughed.

''Only a little,'' I smiled innocently.

- Moments later.

''You know what'd be awesome..'' Jack started.

''What?'' Alex and I said in unison.

''If you came on tour with us, Joce!''

I shook my head and laughed, not taking him seriously at all. I stopped when I noticed the look on his face showed nothing but pure seriousness. ''Wouldn't it be cool, Alex?'' Jack turned to his best friend.

Alex nodded, ''It would be pretty awesome, Joce.''

''You sh-should totally think about it!'' Jack slurred.

''Okay, I'll think about it,'' I said.

''Pr-promise?'' Jack said, an ear-to-ear grin plastered onto his face.

''Promise.''

Me? Go on tour? With All Time Low?
What if Rian and Zack didn't want me to? What if there wasn't enough space? What if all I did was get in the way? What if none of the crew liked me? I promised Jack I'd think about it, but even when I'm drunk I still think about literally everything.

And all I could think about right now was Sarah, my family and where the heck I was going to live from now on.

Cause I can guarantee you it won't be with my dad.
