Bite the Bullet

This Day Will Be So Infamous

-Jack's Point of View-

I took a deep breath, ignoring my subconscious screaming for me to turn around and go home.
If only I had listened..
I slowly swung open the front door, or at least attempted too. The door was barred by people just thinking it was perfectly okay to stand there. Just as I was about to tell the assholes that they needed to move, I noticed there was no where for them to move to.
The place was literally packed head to toe.
“JACK! JACK! JACK!” a voice screamed, barely audible over what I assumed was Katy Perry. Or maybe it was Lorde, or even Lady Gaga. Hell, I don’t know. It’s not like I would waste my time with the radio while there was a perfectly good copy of Take Off Your Pants and Jacket in my CD player.
Anyways, it was Brenna, though Lord only knows how she found me in the crowd. Maybe she was stalking me, just to make sure I came to this awful thing.
“Hey” I said, trying to give her a somewhat convincing smile as she finished pushing through the rowdy crowd.
“I’m so glad you’re here” she grinned.
“So this is your definition of a few people...”
“I mean.. Its.. Uhm.. Well…”
“Well?”
“I had to get you out of the house Jack! You need to make more friends. People may be dicks and assholes sometimes, but at these parties some of the cool kids, and by cool kids I mean the ones like us; the awesome ones, will show up. This’ll be fun, I promise. Have a drink and dance a bit. Maybe you’ll find a girl up your alley!” she said winking
Before I could tell her that I don't really drink and that I was definitely not going to find a girl tonight, she was whisked away into the crowd. I found myself being pushed into the kitchen where the table was lined with cheap beers and red solo cups.
The throng of people were slowly clearing out of the kitchen and spreading out through the first level of her house. I settled on staying in the kitchen.
The table stared back at me, tempting me to just grab a cup and ‘enjoy myself’.
Finally, after about a ten minute discussion with myself and a lot of self hate, I picked myself off of the spot on the floor that I had earlier claimed and poured myself a cup.
I tipped back the liquid and almost instantly regretted it. The golden liquid was cheap and left a bitter, undesirable taste in my mouth.
I wasn’t the first time I’d tried alcohol, but I was definitely still a lightweight in the matter.
I ignored the flavor and emptied the cup, the sensation of drinking going to my head.
This was normal and fun, right? This is what teens did, right?
I could totally handle this.. And to prove myself right, I poured another cup whose liquid soon joined the first cupful in my stomach.
After my third cup I had significantly slowed down and was just staring at the beer sloshing around against the white inside of the cup.
Just then a group of local potheads stumbled into the kitchen making a racket and puffing joints.
I rolled my eyes and got up from my seat. I didn’t need to deal with their shit, and I sure as hell didn’t want to get pressured into doing any of that stuff.
I tried to find Brenna for a few minutes, but when pushing through the crowd didn’t prove fruitful, I decided I’d just go upstairs and scroll around on Tumblr. That would be entertaining enough, you could end up in some pretty weird place on there, but some pretty awesome places too, if you knew what you were doing. Or sometimes it just happened on mistake. You know, whatever floats your boat.
I staggered up the stairs, the idea of tumblr in the back of my mind while my vision wavered before me.
Goddamn, I had way too much to drink.
I held tightly onto the rail, trying to keep my balance all the while forcing my feet to take me up the stairs.
I pushed open the door to the nearest room, and when I found it was dark, I sighed in relief. I closed the door, not bothering to lock it. It was a beautiful silence, the only sound being the bass from the music downstairs, the other noises being blocked by the door and absorbed by the carpet.
I walked to the bed, flopping down on it, using perfect form if I may add.
Bed flopping; The New Olympic Sport.
I pulled my phone out of my back pocket pressing down on the power button. The screen stayed dark. I pressed down again -harder- but the result was still the same. I frantically started pressing down on the button, adding the home button to the buttons I was mashing. Nothing.
I groaned out loud; Of course my phone would be dead the night I was too drunk to do anything else and bored out of my mind.
I put the useless phone back in my pocket and buried my head in the pillow.
Just before I could manage to go to sleep the door opened, allowing a bit of light -it was still too much- to come into the room, along with music.
I cringed, but soon the door was closed and the sound of feet on floor staggering towards me reached my ears. Crap.. What if that was a couple coming to do the dirty? I was in here!
“Who’s there?” I called out, shocked at how my voice sounded.. The slur made it sound like a whole other person.
“Lex..” I heard a voice call back, and the footprint stopped abruptly as they reached the bed.
“Who are you?” the voice said. What was my name again?
I giggled, “I have no idea!”
I heard this mystery man chuckle before saying that I was ridiculously drunk.
At some point while I was commenting that he was drunk as well, he had crawled onto the bed.
The moonlight that was filtering in through the window wasn’t enough to really see by, but all I could make out through the intoxication with the lighting was that this boy was really attractive.
“You’re pretty” I said, giggling once again.
“So are you. Now kiss me” he said, before connecting our lips, not actually giving me a chance to respond.

“Hmmph” I groaned, the light somehow finding a way to land directly in my eyes.
I noticed my arm around someone’s body. The mystery man from last night.
I smiled, remembering our many kisses.
Wasn’t I supposed to forget? I guess alcohol didn't do that to me… Funny.
I sat up, the man beside me groaning.
I froze. Why did he sound so familiar?
I nudged his around in a unspoken gesture for him to get up and roll over.
He abided to my wishes, still half asleep with his eyes closed.
“ALEX!” I said, practically yelling when I saw the beautiful face that was the source of my nightmares.
His eyes snapped open and he studied my face for a moment before putting the pieces together just as I had, “Jack?!?!”
