I'll Keep A Secret If You Keep Me Guessing

Jack’s P.O.V
While we walked to class, I took a moment to observe Alex. He seemed to be an asshole. The way he talked to the recepcionist was a bit shocking, how he could talk to an adult like that? By the way she reacted, it seemed like he was always like that. My first friend in this school was going to be an asshole? I sighed.
“What’s wrong with you?”Alex asked, while he opened the door to the classroom. When he entered, everybody turned around to see him. A few girls blushed, other boys waved at him. But there was one, a blonde girl with blue eyes, who stood up and grinned archly at Alex. She took his hand and made him follow her, while he made me a sign to follow them. I sat at the back of the room, Alex beside me and this girl in front of him. In front I had another girl, who seemed to be with the blonde.
“Aleeeeeex, you didn’t talk to me this morning. Where were you?” she asked, pouting.
“I was showing Jack around.” Alex snapped.
The blonde didn’t seemed to notice me until that moment. “Oh… Won’t you introduce me to your little friend?” she smirked.
“I don’t think so.” He said, and then he looked at me. Alex sighed. “Lisa, this is Jack. Jack, this is Lisa, the school’s slut. And this,” he pointed at the girl in front of me. “Is her slutty friend, Jess.” The girl, who’s name was Jess, turned around and send me a cute smile, and then glared at Alex.
“Hello class.” the teacher entered the class. “Ruocco, I will love if you turned around and pay attention to the class… I don’t want you to suspend this year… again.” Some people giggled while Lisa turned around and pouted.
First period went very quickly. Every now and then, Lisa would turna round and wink at Alex, or tried to touch his legs. I could see Alex was pretty uncomfortable with this situation, and I could see in his eyes he was trying to contain himself of punching the girl.

At lunch time, I ate at the library. I didn’t want to bother Alex, he was being kinda nice with me, but if he found out how I was... he would probably made my life hell. I don’t think people like me are accepted in this school, nor in any other. I stood up because the lunch period was over. I walked to the library’s door when I collapsed on to someone.
“I-I am s-sorry…” I started. I looked up and saw who was standing in front of me.
“You don’t have to be sorry.” Alex smiled at me, but then he was serious again. “Why where you here? I looked for you through the whole school, the last place I thought I would find you was in the library.”
“I ate here because I didn’t want to bother you.” I admitted, blushing. I looked down at my feet. “Alex, I want to ask you something.”
“What?”
“Um.. I… why are you so kind with me?” I could see I took him off guard, because he opened his eyes widely in surpirse.
“Maybe because I am friendly with everyone?” he said, looking at me and raising his eyebrow. I could tell he didn’t want to answer me.
I chuckled. “Yeah, sure. You are sooooo friendly.”
“I don’t know Jack, okay? I don’t fucking know. Everybody is asking me the same thing ‘why are you so friendly with the new kid? you never do that, you are always an arsehole with every new kid.’ well, know what? I don’t know. So, stop asking me.” he answered harshly.
I looked at him, confussion printed in my face. I just shrugged and mumbled a little ‘okay’, waved goodbye to the librarian and headed to my next class, following Alex from behind. In the halls, people looked at me with disgust, and others with surprise. Maybe it was true and Alex was never this kind to any new kid. It seemed that he wasn’t kind with anyone, just to his closed group of friends.
