Nothing Personal

Alex--

It's been two weeks since my grandpa died, and two weeks since Jack kissed me. We still talked, of course, we just aren't together yet.

Monday mornings are always great, right? Sure. Keep thinking that. The only thing making me want to get up is the fact that I'm seeing Jack today at school. I got up and actually got ready for school, and by the time I was done, Jack was knocking at my door. We had arranged that he pick me up and drop me off, you know, because he has a car.

"Coming!" I yelled, and trampled down the stairs with my things.

"Bye, mom!" I called and I opened the front door, seeing that smile that I always went weak for.

"Hey Lex." Jack said.

"Hey." I said. I stepped out onto the porch and closed the door behind me. Jack and I were only inches apart.

"You ready to go?" He asked, looking down at me.

"Y-Yeah.. let's go." I said. He took my hand and pulled me to his car. Before I could think about getting in, he kissed me suddenly. My eyes fluttered shut and I melted into the kiss. My heart beat quickened, and Jack pulled away, leaving me breathless.

"Jack.." I whispered.

"Lex." He whispered back. I couldn't take it anymore.

"Be my boyfriend. Please." I said. Jack smiled.

"Thought you'd never ask." He said, and he pressed his lips back on mine gently. I smiled into the kiss and pulled away after a minute.

"Wouldn't want to be late, now would we?" I asked. I opened the car door and slipped inside, leaving Jack standing out there. He frowned and walked around the car and got in.

"Guess not." He said. I grabbed his hand and we took off towards the school.

We were holding hands throughout the day when we saw each other. During lunch, for a minute in the halls when we saw each other. It was nothing but amazing. After school, we went over to his house so he could talk to his parents.

"They might freak out, Alex. And if they do, I'm staying with you."

"I'm sure they'll be fine, Jack." I said. We both walked inside, where both his parents were, sitting on the couch, watching some cooking show.

"Mom, dad." Jack said. They both turned around and spotted us.

"Oh hello Alex. How are you?" Joyce asked.

"I'm great." I said.

"I have something to say." Jack said. No one said anything.

"Alex.. is my boyfriend... I'm gay." Jack said. His dad only stood up and marched out of the house, a grim look on his face.

"That's great, sweetie." His mom said. She too, stood up and walked down the hall.

"Jesus Christ. That went well." Jack said sarcastically.

"Hey hey hey.. it'll be fine. They just need some time to think about it. Let's head over to mine, yeah?" I asked. Jack pressed his lips to mine for a second before nodding.

Back at my house, we were sat cuddling on the couch.

"Alex! I'm Home!" My mom called.

"Living room!" I yelled back, and Jack rested his head on my shoulder.

"Hey Jack." She said. She sat on the other couch and looked at us. I little embarrassed with Jack resting his head on my shoulder, and our hands clasped together, our fingers entwined. She didn't say anything as she propped her feet up and closed her eyes.

"Want to go up to my room?" I whispered to Jack. He nodded and I switched the tv off. I pulled Jack up and we walked up the stairs to my room. We closed the door behind us and sat on the bed next to each other.

"I wanna hear you play guitar." Jack said. I stood up and grabbed my acoustic.

"What should I play?" I asked.

"Anything. Do you write songs too?" He asked. I nodded.

"Play one." He said. I smiled and started playing Jasey Rae. When it was over, I set the guitar down and looked at Jack.

"That was great, baby." He said, and he kissed me fiercely. I pushed him back onto the bed and wrapped my arms around his torso. I felt my eyes drop closed and I pulled Jack close to me. He cuddled into my side and I could feel myself falling asleep.
