Who Said It Was Gonna Be Easy?

The next thing I knew, someone was nudging me and saying "Alex, wake up". I opened my eyes and took in my surroundings. The person who had poked me was vic. However, I was no longer at the teachers car park, I was in my history classroom.

"what happened? How am I here?" I asked groggily as I sat up straight and stretched my arms.

"you fell asleep near the car park so when the bell went for the end of lunch, I woke you up and you were so exhausted you could barely keep your eyes open so I helped you get to lesson and gave mrs Ralph a note from the nurse that I'd forged for you instead of letting you just skip class because I kinda figured you don't do...stuff like that"


"I don't even remember that. Thank you though"


"no problem. Cmon, school's over" he said. I stood up, yawned and followed him out of the building and to his car.


I got in the passenger side, catching vic quickly moving what was clearly a bag of weed and a packet of tobacco. He glanced up at me to see if I'd seen, chuckling when he saw me watching.

"what? Your dads not a cop, is he?" So vic was a gay stoner. Definitely didn't see that one coming.

"uhh..I..um..no. No, he's not"

"you ok?"

"mhmm..could you just..not ask about my family please?"

"sure. You gonna tell me why?" he asked curiously. I shook my head.

"it's...better this way" I said, feeling like I should at least back up my request. He nodded understandingly.

"is that what you meant before when you said I needed to forget about him for a bit?"

"what? Weed? No, but feel free to try it. I need a new smoking buddy, zack doesn't do it anymore really, 'cept on occasions"

"so what are you like the typical bad boy type?"

"do you want me to be?" he grinned and put his hand on my thigh, dangerously close to where he shouldn't be.

"dude, relax! I'm kidding! You've got a boyfriend, I'm not gonna do anything. That's just horrible" he told me as he took his hand off my leg again.

"I thought you were like some sorta bad kid though"

"so I break the rules and stuff. Doesn't mean I'm automatically an asshole. I'm a nice person, I just like to do things in my own way" he shrugged.

"tell me when to turn or whatever by the way" he said. I nodded and waited until we got to where jack had flicked me before giving him the same directions I'd given jack. When he got to my house, I thanked him and he smiled.

"you should get some sleep. You look like shit" he grinned. I punched him in the arm with a grin.

"like im going to actually be able to sleep"

"what do you mean?"

"I haven't slept properly for the past few days. I haven't been able to get to sleep without him"

"you slept before though"

"yeah I know..you kinda smell a bit like him and it helped more than what's considered normal"

"well..do you want me to come in until you've gone to sleep?" he asked.

"no, no, it's fine"

"Alex, I wanna help. You look exhausted. You deserve some proper sleep"

"fine, okay, if you really want. I haven't got the energy to fight back" I said before getting out. He grinned and cut the engine then got out of his car. I unlocked the door and went inside going straight up to my room, hearing vic following behind. I dumped my bag on the floor and sat on my bed, vic joining me.
