Janie’s eyes fluttered open as the sun cast a yellow haze across the room. She smiled as the arms that were wrapped around her waist tightened for a brief moment before they loosened enough for her to turn on to her side.

“Hey sleepy head” she kissed Alex’s cheek as his eyes fluttered open as well.


“Mmmm” he smiled and pulled her into his chest.

“I like waking up to your face” he said, his voice husky with the remnants of sleep. Janie smiled and buried her head in the crook of his neck where she placed a chaste kiss. The butterflies erupted in her stomach as Alex tucked her hair behind her ear and gently placed a kiss on her lips, both smiling through the kiss.

“I’ve missed you” Janie whispered, pushing her lips back against Alex’s. Their lips moved in sync with a fiery passion that displayed all of the built up emotions before finally evolving into a slow, delicate, romantic kiss.

“I love you” Alex whispered, nudging his nose against hers and Janie truly knew that he meant those three words.

“mmm, love you too” Janie smiled and kissed his cheek before sitting up “but we should get up, I promised our daughter a day at the lake to see the ducks”

“Five more minutes” Alex begged, pulling Janie back down to his chest.

“Alexxx, nooo” Janie pushed herself up and laughed at the sight of the boy laying below her with his wide eyed puppy dog face on full display. She shook her head causing him to poke his bottom lip out in a pout. Janie smiled and launched herself at him; laying on top of him she nuzzled her nose against his neck and kissed his collar bone, “only cause I love you so much” she giggled as Alex’s hands wandered up the back of her shirt before resting on her hips.

“I love you too….but I also love morning sex” Alex raised an eyebrow suggestively but was taken by surprise when Janie pushed her lips to his. Alex immediately kissed back hungrily wanting more. A half hour later Alex made his way to the kitchen where he found his wife and daughter dancing around the kicthen.

"what next mommy?" Adelia asked as she twirled around

"hmmm, how bout you pick out a juice box for yourself and get settled in your big girl chair while I fix your plate?" Janie mused.

"Okay!" Adelia's eyes lit up as she followed the instructions Janie gave her.

Alex couldn't wipe the smile from his face as he watched his two favorite girls. Pushing himself off of the door frame he finally walked into the kitchen and picked up Adelia, swining her in a circle over his head.

"Hey there, princess" he kissed her cheek as her little legs wrapped around his waist her and arms around his neck.

"daddy, guess what!" Adelia giggled in excitement

"hmmm?"

"I helped mommy make breakfast!"

Alex's eyes lit up in excitement "you did?!' he exclaimed while walking towards Janie. He kissed her cheek before taking Adelia to the table while she animatedly told him all about cooking pancakes.

Janie sat a plate of pancakes and a cup of coffee in front of Alex, snapping him back into reality. He had zoned out while watching his daughter go on and on about how she was "a big girl" and not a baby anymore. He smiled and cut into his pancakes, it had been too long since they had done anything together as a family and he truly couldn't wait to spend the entire day feeding the ducks with his wife and daughter.
