Begin Again

Pinks, purples, and blue painted across the sky creating a cotton candy colored sunset. Alex lied on his back with Janie cuddled in his side, her head resting on his chest and his right arm wrapped protectively around her waist while his left hand aimlessly ran through her hair.

“I’ve missed this” Alex whispered, afraid that speaking any louder would disrupt the moment and he wasn’t ready to let it go just yet. Janie kissed his chest and looked up at him through her thick eyelashes.

“I’ve missed you” she whispered in return.

Alex couldn’t stop the smile from stretching across his face. He tenderly placed his hands on her cheeks, cupping her face as he pulled her up and softly kissed her pale pink lips. Janie’s eyes fluttered closed as she moved her lips in sync with his, her hands immediately getting lost in his hair as she tugged on it. Alex pulled back so that their foreheads were resting against each other’s. His breath ghosting across Janies lips as he spoke “ We should get back before we both catch colds” he whispered while pressing another series of short kisses to her lips. Janie hummed in agreement and pressed a hard kiss to Alex’s lips before moving off of him and dusting off her clothes.

Janie effortlessly saddled up onto her horse, Joey and threw her head back in laughter at the sight of Alex struggling to swing his leg over his horse. Alex looked over at her and pouted as he got settled into the saddle.

“Don’t laugh at me!” he stuck out his bottom lip in a pout that much resembled one of Adelia’s. His pout quickly turned into a grin as Janie’s laughter once again filled the open air. Her head was thrown back and her hair whipped around in the wind. Her cheeks were red from the cold weather and her eyes closed with a wide open smile on her face as she shook with laughter.

Alex slyly slid his iPhone from his front pocket and captured the moment before it escaped. It had been so long since he had seen Janie so carelessly let herself go and he felt the teenage butterflies erupt in his stomach as he fell in love with her all over again.

He slid his phone back into his pocket and ushered the horse into a slow gallop to catch up with the girl that had stolen his heart. Janie quickly put the horses away and locked the stable up before walking back to the house with Alex. Alex’s hand found hers like a moth finds a flame, he fingers interlaced with hers tightly. Janie stared up at him, silently studying his features though she knew his face better than her own; she wanted to memorize every facet of his being. Alex looked down catching Janie’s eyes as she stared back into his.

“What?” he playfully nudged her with his elbow. Janie shook her head, her bangs fell into her eyes and her cheeks heated up with a rose colored blush. Alex reached his hand out and tucked the hair behind her ears before he placed a sweet kiss on her cheek and opened the front door for her.

Ann smile from her place in her chair as she watched the couple re-enter the house looking like a couple of love sick teenagers, the same way they had looked so many years before. Her eyes caught Alex’s as he leaned against the wall watching Janie unwrap the layers from her body. Ann winked at him and Alex ducked his head in embarrassment before his hand once again found Janie’s and he was pulling her behind him and up the stairs to her room.

Alex pulled her onto the bed with him and wrapped his arms around her waist pulling her as close to his body as possible.

"I'm doing anything with my mother and our daughter in the house" Janie warned.

Alex shook his head and laughed "I just want to lay with you" he pressed a kiss to her exposed shoulder blade and Janie sighed in content before turning in his arms so they were face to face. Her slim finger traced across his jaw before running through his hair. Alex stayed silent knowing that Janie was trying to figure out how to voice her thoughts.

"Lex" She finally whispered so quietly that if Alex hadn't been so close to her he wouldn't have even heard her.

"hmmm" he hummed in response as Janie's fingers ran across his cheeks where they finally stopped.

"What's going to happen when we go back to Baltimore and you have to go back on tour...or to the studio...or-"

Alex pressed his lips to hers to stop her worrying. "Nothing is going to change, love. I promise. I'm not ever letting you go again."

"Okay" Janie said, his words being enough for the moment.

"I love you" Alex said, his eyes searching hers and begging for her to know how true those words were.

Janie sleepily smiled at him "and I love you"

Alex nudged his nose against hers "forever and always?" he asked "Forever and always" Janie kissed him and buried her head in the crook of his neck where she began to fall asleep. Alex tightened his grip on her and kissed the top of her head; finally they were beginning again.

Notes

This is basically just a filler to hold you guys over because i've been super busy but i'm probably going to wrap this up soin. Would you guys read it if I made a prequel to this story that would show them in their teen years when they first met and their whole relationship?
