Do it for me

I felt a little nudge at my side and I looked over,seeing Caitlyn next to me.She giggled and wrapped her arms around me."You look gorgeous in that dress! Jack'll love you."

I smiled a bit and she handed me some lipstick that I quickly put on.I straightened out the blue dress we had picked out at the dress shop and stared at my black heels.I was afraid of what would happen at this dance.Luckily, Caitlyn and Alex were coming along, so Jack and I weren't alone.I heard a knock at the door and jumped as Caitlyn giggled,opening it.Alex saw her and grinned,complimenting her and kissing her cheek.I smiled when Jack showed up at the front door,his awkward self.He had on a cute suit with a blue bowtie and one rose.

He smiled and walked up to me."You look gorgeous." He handed it to me and I blushed,grabbing the rose.

"Thank you.." I said quietly and grabbed my purse as he wrapped an arm around my shoulder.

I heard Caitlyn and Alex whispering and we all walked out to the car.Jack opened the door for me and I gave him a small smile as Caitlyn and him got in the back too.Alex got in the driver's seat and drove off to the winter dance.I was only afraid of what i'd do when I saw Zack with Bethany.I glanced at Jack who rested his hand on my leg,but in a friendly way.

"You excited?" Jack smiled at me and I nodded.

"Course..I've only been to a dance,but that was in fifth grade.." I smiled at him.

He chuckled and poked my nose."Well, your dress is beautiful."

I smiled."Caitlyn picked it out with me."

Caitlyn grinned and Alex turned up Blink 182 and I smiled,starting to hum.Maybe it would be a good night.

We walked into the school's gym.It was filled with twinkling lights,loud music,photographers,food,drinks.It was a little too much for my taste.

Jack nudged me as Alex and Caitlyn walked away.Crap,we were alone.The only thing I was afraid of.He smiled."Want some punch?"

I nodded and we walked towards the table.

He poured me a cup and handed it to me,pouring himself a cup."I hate dances,actually..I just wanted an excuse to go out with you."

I blushed when he said that and looked down,drinking some of the punch."Oh..you could have asked..I would have gone anywhere with you." I smiled a bit.

After a few minutes,we finished our drinks and I looked around the dance floor,biting my lip.There was no sign of Zack yet.

Jack grabbed my hand,kissing it and smiled."Care to dance?"

I grinned."I will." I held his hand and we walked to the dance floor.I wrapped my arms around his neck and glanced up at him.He was pretty tall.Even in my heels.

He smiled and wrapped his lanky arms around my waist and smiled at me."Mm, sorry i'm so tall." He chuckled and looked at me,playing with my curls.

I looked at him and bit my lip."Ya know..back in Arizona,I didn't have really anyone."

Jack gave me a small frown,pulling my body closer to his.

I looked at him."But now I do..I have Alex,Caitlyn,Rian..You." I smiled at him.

He grinned."Of course you have all of us..You're special,Delilah." He grinned."Don't you forget it." He poked my nose and moved back and forth to the slow song.

I smiled a bit and rested my head on his shoulder,humming along to the beat,even though I had no clue what the song was.I was peaceful in Jack's arms,just dancing slowly.He was playing with my hair,and I didn't mind.I closed my eyes and gave a sigh of relief.The nervousness was actually gone now.I smiled to myself.

After about a minute of being relaxed in his arms,I opened my eyes and stared around the room.Alex and Caitlyn were nowhere to be found.Rian was dancing with random girls.And that's when I saw him.Zack.In a perfect suit..Perfect tie,perfect hair.Bethany had her body against him,their arms linked.She had on a perfect red dress with black heels and curled hair.I could never compete.But why would I have to? I had Jack.But in the moment now, I wanted Zack..I stared at him and heard the song end.

Jack and I pulled away and he had the happiest grin ever.

Zack walked over to us and smiled."Hey you two.Having fun?"

Jack smiled,nodding."Of course.You look nice." He winked at Zack.

I bit my lip and smiled at Zack and Bethany."I like your dress.." I said quietly to her and she complimented me back,grinning.

Jack grabbed my hand and smiled as Zack told us they were going to go dance.

I looked at Jack and smiled a bit.

Jack smiled at me."Want to go to the garden?"

I smiled,nodding as he grabbed my hand tightly.

We walked outside of the gym to the garden.It had more lights,slow,quiet music, and only a few people outside.

I felt a gust of wind hit me and my hair flew in my face as my body shook and I giggled.

Jack chuckled and slipped of his suit jacket,wrapping it around me."Looks better on you than me." He winked and smiled.

I looked at him and pulled my hair back to the side."Thank you.." I bit my lip and held onto the jacket,trying to feel warmer.I saw a bench and sat down,looking at him.

Jack smiled and leaned down in front of me,grabbing my hands."Delilah."

I smiled and looked at him..His face was all cute and stubbly."Hm?"

Jack gave me a small smile."You deserve to have somebody there for you..you're not in Arizona anymore, and I want to be here for you."

I listened to his words and smiled.

Jack grinned at me and intertwined our fingers.

I stared at him and he leaned forward,resting his hand on my face softly,kissing me.

When I felt his lips,my heart got a little spark in it..Or it felt like it.I held onto his hands and kissed him back softly and smiled against his lips and he kept his hand on my face,gently.

It was kind of perfect,really..Jack told me nice things,holding my hand,touching my face,quiet music playing.It was really a perfect memory to keep in my mind.

As Jack pulled away,he was blushing..He smiled at me and rubbed my face once more,standing up,grabbing my hands.

We started walking back in and I smiled."Jacky,can you get me a plate of food? I want to stay out here for a second..It's hot in there." I smiled.

Jack nodded,kissing my cheek."See ya in a minute!" He grinned,running inside.

I smiled to myself and looked around,leaning against the wall.I stared at the lights.Maybe Jack was my second chance to being happy.

I was about to turn to the door to go find Jack but I felt an arm push my against the wall and I gasped,looking up to see Zack there.

Zack looked at me."I just wanna talk.."

I bit my lip."About what? I have to get back in there." I smiled.

Zack moved his arms away from me."Just..I didn't want to be here with Bethany.I wanted to be here with you." He rested his arm on my hip and kissed me softly.

His lips were different then Jack's.They were rougher,but still nice and soft.He had less stubble,too.Why did he just kiss me though? I pushed him away and looked up."Zack..you can't kiss me..You're on a date with Bethany and I like Jack."

Zack frowned."But I like you..You even said you like the quiet ones,Del.." He frowned.

I shook my head."Zack..Please..go back to Bethany..She's a sweet girl."

Zack looked at me and shoved his hands in his pockets."All Jack wants is sex,Delilah.I just want you.."

I walked away and felt a few tears in my eyes.All in one night, I had managed to make my date extremely happy,and a really sweet guy,heartbroken.What was wrong with me?
