Twenty-Five

I woke up in the back lounge in just my jeans. I had bandages in my torso and my arms. I felt stitches in my right eye brow. I felt pain everywhere. I felt burning from wolf's bane in my bloodstream. I looked to find Mir sitting by my side wiping my forehead with a cool, wet towel and little Mina using the end of the cough to stand. Her bright, young blue eyes filled with tears. I sat up slowly and I placed her in my lap. She stood on my legs and hugged me tightly like a teddy bear. Her embrace made me start to cry.
"I'm so sorry I scared you MIna. I was so scared for you and mommy," I cried as I held her to me tightly, not wanting to ever let her go.
"The wolf's bane in your system has prevented you from healing. Promise me you'll be careful tonight on stage," Mir was really worried now about me more than ever.
"I promise Mir. I'll be careful. I worried myself while I was tied to that tree," I told her.
"Thank you," she kissed my forehead and went to leave, but I grabbed her wrist.
"I know what you told Alex. He's right. Mina is sad all the time when we run because she can't hear your thoughts and you can't hear hers," Mina turned to her and nodded in agreement, "If I knew a way to make you a wolf like us I'd do it for anything in the world if it meant both of my girls would be happy and we'd be a happy family together. Mina loves you very much. So much that it hurts me to know that she won't be able to tell until she can talk."
Mina reached for Mir and I handed her over. Mina planted a kiss on Mir's cheek, resulting in a good cry to come from Mir.
"I love you too Mina. I love you so much it hurts. I worry about you everynight whe I go to bed. I worry when you go running with Daddy. I love you sweetheart. I would do anything to keep you safe," I wrapped my arms around my family, all of us crying together.

After the tour, the three of us flew home to LA. When we got home, Mina was sound asleep in her car seat. Mir picked her up and carried her inside as I got our bags from the back of my car. I dumped the bags inside and closed the door. Mir was coming downstairs after she put Mina into her crib upstairs.
"So what do we do now Jack," she asked.
"We settle in for a movie and then we go to bed and enjoy a nice vacation from work. We help teach Mina to walk and start getting into Blink-182," I beamed.
"Well we start with getting her into Blik-182 when she's ten. The rest we can do very soon," she smiled and I pulled her into my arms, kissing her like I did so long ago. When the only worries we had were graduation, me getting adjusted to being a werewolf, and dodging Mir's parents.
But I have new worries now. I worried about Mir's safety since she was human and not a hunter anymore.
I worried about Cosmina getting hurt when she's going to learn to walk.
I was going to worry about her and dating boys.
I was going to worry about everything under the sun.
But I remember one thing that I can lean on...Don't Panic!
Tonight, we lie awake
The coffee, you made us shake on those
Long drives, one more long night...

Notes
