Eighteen

Europe went by in a blur. I was stoked more for when Mir was going to give birth. She's at eight and a half months and we've been going through middle of the night scares. I was barely sleeping, keeping an eye on my wife who was fit to pop now.
"Jack get some sleep. I'll wake you if I start having contractions," she noticed the bags under my eyes.
"I'm fine really. Get some sleep love," I said. I wanted to be awake so she wouldn't need to try to fight my sleepy ass to get her to the hospital.
"Jack Bassam Barakat get some sleep. You'll kill yourself if you don't get enough sleep," she had to pull out my full name.
"Fine you win, Mirela Crina Barakat," I fell back onto my pillow and caught some zs.

The next morning, Mir and I were leaned against the kitchen counters drinking coffee. That's when she dropped her mug, watching it shatter on the kitchen floor. Then she screamed.
"Mir what's the matter," I was so lost and confused. I didn't know what to do.
"The baby's coming you moron. Get me to the car," she screamed. I took her arm and guided her to the car. I had already kept a diaper bag, car seat, and a suitcase of clothes for Mir in the car for the hospital trip. I was nearly speeding.
"What's the emergancy sir," the orderly working the desk asked as I helped Mir into the hospital.
"My wife is going into labor," I explained. She acted immediately and got Mir into a wheelchair.
"I will come get you from the waiting once she's prepped in her room," she said before wheeling Mir away. I got onto the phone to get Alex and the guys here.
"Hey Jack what's up," Alex greeted when he picked up.
"Mir went into labor. The baby is coming. Get everyone informed and here. I'm going to get a hold of my parents and her mom. Text me when you guys are on your way," I hung up as the orderly came for me.
"She's ready," she said and guided me to her room.
"Hey," Mir breathed when I walked in.
"Have I mentioned that a hospital gown looks so sexy on you," I joked as I took a seat next to her bed.
"Have I mentioned that I'm in massive pain right now," she gritted her teeth as another contraction passed.
"Well I bet you are," I gave her a cheeky grin and she playfully slapped me.

After many cruel hours of her contraction the doc came in. Mir was nearly ready to deliver and I was getting impatient from waiting to meet my first born.
"She is dialated enough for us to try pushing. Mirela we're going to give you an epidural first," the anisteiologist came and gave her the epidural.

"Now push Mirela," the doc said.
"You're crushing it," I screamed as she screamed, my fretting hand was not going to forgive me easily after this.
"Breathe Mirela. That's it. Now push," Mir let out a forceful scream. I heard a little thump onto the bed before a baby scream filled the room. Mir threw her head back in relief as our now somewhat dried baby was passed up to her.
"We did it baby," I cheered, tears of pure joy streaming down my cheeks.
"Congrats Mr. and Mrs. Barakat on your healthy baby girl.
"Hello Cosmina. I'm your mommy," Mir cooed at our crying newborn baby girl.
"Hi my little Mina. I'm your daddy. your going to be my spoiled little princess," I smiled and touched her little nose. I got up and went to the waiting room where everyone had gathered. The guys saw the tears in my eyes.
"Well," Alex was impatiently waiting for the news.
"It's a girl," everyone jumped up from their seats screamign and being joyous and happy. Alex pulled me into a hug and Zack gave me a bear hug. Rian and I hugged each other super tightly.
"Can I meet her," Lisa asked, "I want to meet Cosnina."
"Lisa both you and Alex can come meet her," I guided them to Mir's room. Mir was covered and comfortable. Mina was cleaned up and bundled tightly.
"Lisa. Alex," Mir breathed a greeting. I came over to sit next to Mir on the bed.
"Can I hold her Mir," Mir nodded and handed my daughter to me. I rose from the bed and brought her to Alex and Lisa. Their hearts melted at the sight of her.
"Jack she's adorable. You and Mir make great babies," she gushed.
"Man she is going to be fun when she's a teenager," Alex added as he looked my daughter.
"Mirela and I have set up to have you guys be Mina's godparents. SInce Alex is my best friends aside from Mir," I started to explain.
"You have been my best friend since I came to Baltimore Lisa I could not see anyone else as godmom to Mina," Mir added.
"Jack thank you," Alex said as he hugged me without crushing Mina.

Three days later Mir and I brought Mina home. We walked our little bundle of joy up to her nursery across the hall from our bedroom and put her little sleeping form into her white crib.
"I can't believe it Jack. We did it," Mir breathed when we got into the kitchen. Mir had placed the baby monitor on the counter as she went into the fridge for a can of Mountain Dew.
"I am so happy I can't describe it Mir. I'm a dad now. i have a daughter sleeping soundly in her crib. My wife is gorgeous. My band is super successful. I got it made," I gushed to her as I sipped my Monster. "The first night home with be the roughest for us. We'll be doing a lot of learning. We'll be learning what her cries are. Her favorite holding positions. Her favorite feeding time and nap time," Mir was so happy.
"What's her favorite song her daddy plays," I added in.
"Here's to parenthood," I raised my can for a toast.
'To parenthood," she clinged her can against mine and we took a sip from our drinks. Then Mina cried into the monitor.
"I got this, get some food Mir," I ran upstairs to my daughter's crib.

Notes

Say hello to little Cosmina Elizabeta Barakat. I am so happy now. Jack is a papa and Mir's going to try staying at home with Mina. I'm bring back Mir's mom. Don't worry, she won't be a total bitch. Plus I'm excited to do Jack and Mir's webbcam sessions while he goes on tour. Thank you my adoring public, I love you all.
