Ten

"Afraid of the dark, my daughter," he sounded so sinister and vile now.
"Grandmother never told you," I let a hint slip for him.
"Tell me what, girl," he was agitated.
"She removed my gifts as a hunter. I olny heal faster. I can't smell wolves, see in the dark, or have my supierior strength and speed. I'm human," I was reveling in my father's face that I was normal for a change.
"You have brought me shame child. You will pay for this," he grabbed me by my shirt and tugged me out of Jack's grip.
"You will not have her," Jack growled as he shredded through his clothes, his black wolf snarling at my father.
"Take her away," I was pulled off and I had to hear Jack and my father start to fight.
The hunters took me to my yard but we were greeted by the All Time Low pack. Alex was at point with Zack and Rian on his right and left flank. The crew was lined up behind them. The hunters were outnumbered and fleed. Alex signaled for Matt to take the crew to give chase.
"Let's go help Jack," I looked at Alex and he nodded in agreement. I found the killswitch and turned my power back on.
I ran inside to find Jack with a silver laced whip around his neck and my father was pulling it tighly on it. My boyfriend's wolf was struggling to breate. Soon, the wolf faded to being just normal Jack, gasping for air under the bindings of the whip. I acted quickly and leaped onto Dorin's back and put him into a sleeper hold.
"Get off me," he screamed. I held on. He released the whip and Jack slumpped down onto the floor. I could tell he wasn't breathing. My father started to slam me against the wall, trying desperatly to to knock me off. I held on even though I was taking heavy hits to my head and back. He finally hit the ground and went unconscious. I grabbed the whip, freeing it from Jack's neck. I signaled Alex, Zack, and Rian to roll him over as I hog tied my father. I ran over to Jack and placed my ear near his mouth, seraching for signs of breathing.
"He's not breathing," I looked at Alex, "Go call 911. I'm going to start CPR."
I began slamming my weight into Jack's chest, giving him 30 chest compressions. I tilted his head back and plugged his nose and held his jaw open so I could give him rescue breaths. I repeated the cycle for ten grulling minutes before Jack finally coughed and gasped for breath.
"Mir," he coughed. I looked down into his beautiful brown eyes and smiled as I brushed his hair out of his face.
"I took him down. I manhandled him. I," I started to feel really dizzy and light headed.
"EMS is on the way," I heard Alex, my world still spinning, "Mirela!"

I woke up in a pure white room. The sunlight shining brightly into the room, blinding me. I saw wires and tubes attached to my body and machines beeping and recording data. I shifted myself so I could sit up. That's when I saw the door open and a familiar face popped into the room, his face bright and marked with a smile.
"Good afternoon Mir," Jack greeted as he set his coffee on the side table as he slid a chair to the bed side.
"What happened," I asked, groggy as all hell, my voice was shot and cracking.
"You had a concusion and you giving me CPR exhausted your body to shut itself down," he explained. That's when I saw the bruises on his throat from the whip.
"How are you feeling," I asked him.
"My throat hurts from being choked to near death. The damage won't heal quickly since the whip was laced with silver and wolf's bane. But the docs say I'll be fine. I just have to avoid talking too much or too loud," he placed his right hand on my cheek, stroking it with his thumb. I loved his touch, it was warm and protective. Alex strolled in after a moment with a balloon, a little teddy bear, and a boquet of flowers for me.
"You're finally awake," he breathed a sigh of relief, "When you pasted out I started freaking out. Jack was so quick to action. He saw you falling back and he caught you before your head could hit the floor."
"Well I was right next to her when she started losing consciousness Lex. I just had to grab the back of her head and lower her down gently," Jack was being modest and was blushing a little.

Jack got to take home that evening. May and Joe were at the house waiting for me to come home. Unfortunately I couldn't stand on my own with Jack holding onto me incase I lost consciousness again due to my concusion. I didn't mind. That's when I saw a hooded figure standing in my living room.
"Do not be afraid Mirela. I was waiting for your return home to inform you that your father is being sent to Romania to face judgement for attempting to kill Mr. Barakat and kidnapping you. He will have his green card revoked quietly and his passport will be taken into custody," the fugure removed their hood to reveal it was my uncle Cosmin. He was the elder on the hunter council for my family. He, like me, believe in toleration for the wolves. He only delivers justice in the proper way.
"Thank you Uncle Cosmin," I bowed my head to him in respect.

Notes

So I was pretty geeked to write Mir brawling her dad. Plus her uncle is going to pop again. He's really cool and a total badass. Plus after this I'm time jumping ahead a year. This when romance and action will reign. But Don't Panic! ;)
