I gave Jack a challenging glance as I downed my fourth shot of vodka.
"No, Rie, stop." He laughed menacingly as he whipped back his fifth. I matched him yet again and murmured that I was in no way going to let him win. After the seventh shot Jack accepted defeat, declaring he couldn't carry on because of the amount he had already drank.
"Fuck yes!" I raised my hands in the air and received cheers from across the bar where our friends huddled around the mic stand. Oh dear. Alex jumped up onto the stage, a found guitar in hand, Cass by his side. He cleared his throat into the mic and strummed a chord on the guitar.
"Everybody! I'm in a fucking band, like an actual one with a record deal and all!" The crowd made muffed giggles as Alex took a seat on the stool. "My name is Alex Gaskarth, I'm famous so you should all love this." Cass took the seat beside him and hes shrugged. "She's famous too, but I don't care about her." Cass giggled and shook her head as the drunken Alex began to strum the first couple of chords of Hold on Till May, by Pierce The Veil.
"She sits up high, surrounded by the sun, one million branches and she loves everyone." Alex flashed me a smile as the crowd cheered. "Mom and dad, did you search for me? I've been up here so long I'm going crazy."
"And as the sun went down, we ended up on the ground." Cass took over and I stood up on the nearest chair and screamed her name, trying to make her laugh. "I heard the train shake the windows, you screamed over the sound." Her face scrunched up as she belted the notes and I noticed Rian's eyes never left her once, he looked entranced." And as we owned this night, I put your body to the test with mine. This love was out of control! Three, two, one. Where did it go?" Alex took a breath and I could tell that this part was going to be difficult.
"Now don't be crazy, Yes now, of course you can stay here."
" Been in a touring band for going on ten years."
"'Big deal,' she said. 'I guess your official.' I only said it cause I know what its like to feel burned out." Cass beckoned for me to go over and I weaved my way through the crowd as Alex sang. "It gets you down, we've all been there sometimes. But tonight, I'll make you feel beautiful once again." Cass pulled me onto the stool next to her and swung the mic so it was balanced in between us and winked. Oh fuck.
"And as the sun went down we ended up on the ground."
"I heard the train shake the windows, you screamed over the sound. And as we own this night, I put your body to the test with mine." Our voiced melted together perfectly and Cass knew they would. We'd sung together numerous times during the tour. "This love was out of control. Three, two, one, where did it go?" I punched her shoulder playfully as Alex picked away, beaming like an idiot.
"If I were you, I'd put that away. See you're just wasting, thinking about the past again, darling you'll be okay. And she said," The mic was pushed just to me this time and I figured there was no way I could get out of it.
"If you were me, you'd do the same. 'Cause I can't take anymore, I'll draw the shades and close the door. Everything's not alright and I would rather..." I still wasn't particularly fond of performing in front of people. I sung on tour sometimes but I was always at the back with Matt, hiding. We all sung the final verse, blending perfectly, splitting off and singing our own harmonies.
"And as the sun went down we ended up on the ground. I heard the train shake the windows
you screamed over the sound. And as we own this night I put your body to the test with mine.
This love was out of control, tell me where did it go?" The crowd roared as Alex flicked through the iPad that was sitting there, looking for chords to songs.
"I really hate you." I said over the noise to Cass who just smiled sweetly and suggested another song to Alex.



"Siiinngggggggg agaaaiinnn!!!" Alex whined as we stumbled back along the streets, heading for the bus. Is hook my head weirdly before flipping him off.
"Alexander, I will not sing for you." The boys giggled as I tired to dramatically cross my arms and ended up tangling myself. "Aw, fuck." I mumbled as Alex twisted me around to face him. "Lexi, I'm stuck." I had become somehow tangled in my shirt and pouted as a mischievous smile spread across Alex's face.
"Sing." I stomped my foot and continued to sulk like a three year old, a highly intoxicated three year old.
"But I don't wanna!" Cass, the only sober one, sighed and leaned Rian up against a wall before walking over to help me.
"Honestly, children. All of you are children." She giggled as she put my arms back where they belonged. I fell into her and squeezed her.
"Thank-you, Cassie." She laughed and struggled to push me off her and into Alex who instantly wrapped his arms around me.
"Mine." He smiled as Jack made grabby hands towards me. Jack started to list off reasons why he should get hugs as we kept walking back towards the venue.
"Seriously though, I never get hugs. And Laura likes Zack most." Rian put a hand on his friends shoulder as we rounded the corner to reveal our bus.
"Dude, your fine. Shut up."
"I'm a seventh wheel!" He cried out as Rian picked up Cass and dashed back to the bus.
"No you're not" I giggled as we followed along. "You have Matt!" Rian and Cass disappeared into the bus and Zack came stumbling out with a panicked look on his face.
"Alex! Rie!" We exchanged confused glances as Zack sprinted to us. The next two words he spoke would shake us into absolute sobriety.
"Laura's gone."
