No Pads… No Helmets… Just Memories!

"What’s your favorite animal?" Alex questioned as he fiddled with my fingers. I let out a thoughtful sigh as I let my head rest deeper into the broad of his shoulder, the two of us tucked under a blanket on his couch seeing as like Jack had predicted, the endless rain ended, and turned into one big frozen sheet of ice dropping the temp dramatically.



"Manatee..." I smiled causing Alex to laugh as I looked up at him. His warm eyes watching me like they had been since we left school earlier that day deciding we didn't want to hang around in our friends watchful eyes till Duncan's party and just enjoy one another after all the bull shit that had been going on.


"Why?" He chuckled as I shrugged and placed my head back on his shoulder.


"I don't know, I feel like they’re kind of unappreciated animals..." I explained as I let him slowly entwine our fingers not seeing the smile form on his lips at how perfect they locked together. "They're also adorable..."


"So they're like me?" He smirked as I rolled my eyes with a playful laugh.


"You are so far from unappreciated it’s almost ridiculous!" I scoffed rolling so I was snuggled into his side. My nose burrowing into his chest to take in his comforting scent. The scent of musk, vanilla, and freshly fallen rain I'd grown to love, Alex's scent. A scent of safety and familiarity that I always found filling my scenes whenever I needed it.


"Oh! Didn't say I wasn't adorable!" He laughed releasing my hand to poke my side causing me to jump.


"Didn't say you weren't an animal either!" I laughed sticking my tongue out at him and watched as he brushed his fringe from his eyes.


"You watch that tongue of yours missy, I'll bite it right off!" He taunted poking my nose causing a girly giggle to slip past my lips.


"Have you always been this sexually frustrated?" I mocked cocking a brow as he began to laugh and snaked a steady arm around my back tugging me closer.


"Well I am a teenage boy... So yes!" He laughed as I rolled my eyes and set my head back onto his chest.


"Speaking of teenage boys with raging hormones, where is Jack?" I questioned curiously drumming my fingers along his clothed collar bone as I spoke.


"First off... My hormones are not raging!" He scoffed watching as I rolled my eyes, "And secondly how should I know..." Alex shrugged as I looked up at him. Our eyes locking for a moment before I began to laugh only causing him to pout. "Oh hush you!" He groaned nudging me with his shoulder.


"I didn't say anything!" I laughed looking up at him as I bit my lip. I'd be lying straight through my teeth if I said I never had urges to kiss the kid, even before we were dating. It's like when you see that really attractive boy at the beach or the mall and you know you'll never see them again but have this undying urge to kiss them, but you never do 'cause you realize how just socially awkward you are and that you can't even order food on your own... Well maybe that’s just me, but that’s what it feels like. It's like these random bolts of energy telling me to just kiss him, simply because I can.


"No, but you were thinking something!" He poked me causing me to giggle when I realized I had been blatantly staring at his lips, his soft, kissable lips...


'Oh my god what is wrong with me today!?'

"Yeah... that you do know where Jack is," I stuttered to save myself, "y'all are two halves of a whole, Tweedle-Dee and Tweedle-Dumb!" I shook my head with a smile as I pressed my head to his chest.


"Well excuse me for wanting to spend some time with my girl before this party!" He quipped as he circled his arms back around my middle and tugged me closer, "You know how they are! I don't need Jack making jokes about your boobs to piss me off..." He started making me laugh again, "And we don't need Rian watching us like a hawk as if I'm some pedo, and lastly, we don't need Cass flipping a shit every ten minutes telling us she told us so!"


I smiled into his chest before resting my cheek to his shirt, "you're so cute!" I commented causing him to chuckle.


"Like a little manatee!" He laughed in a cheery tone causing me to shove on his shoulder.


"Oh enough out of you!" I laughed as he cupped my cheek in his hand. His eyes locking on mine as I found that spark that sat within them. I took the hint he subconsciously gave away as leaned towards him-


"AALLEEXX!" Jacks voice sang through the house as Alex and I both groaned a similar noise pulling apart.


"The kids like Voldemort!" Alex whisper yelled as he looked down on me, "you said his name then, POOF! Here he is!"


"Oh hush, he's your friend!"I laughed sitting up and scratching a hand through my hair as I felt Alex refuse to release his grip on my stomach.


"He's a cockblock is what he is..." Alex muttered under his breath as I looked over my shoulder to send him a look just as the skunk haired boy entered the living room.


"DUDE GUESS WHAT- oh..." Jack skidded to a stop in the doorway, the teen watching awkwardly as Alex still sat with a hand cupped to my hip as he fumbled with his thoughts, "uhm, am I interrupting something?"


"YE-"



"No!" I cut Alex off sending him another glare. "What’s up?" I asked placing my hands in my lap as I looked over at Jack.


"WE HAVE FANS!" He yelped bouncing up and down like Bambi on crack as he giggled.


"How do you know?" Alex questioned groggily with a pang of annoyance present in his tone as he sat up.


"I got noticed when me and Vinny went by King's today!" Jack all but squealed as Alex placed a palm to the base of my spine, calmly rubbing his thumb back and forth, "THEY ASKED FOR A PHOTO AND EVERYTHING!"


"That’s sick!" I exclaimed as Jack beamed at me in agreement.


"DUDE WHERE GONNA BE FAMOUS!" Jack yelled.


"Not if you’re dead..." Alex murmured with a tone thick in sarcasm. "Can't you go bug Rian, or Zack about it!" Alex whined snaking his arms around my stomach and pulling me close.


"I already did so jokes on you!" He pointed at the two of us as he hopped, "Can't you give Jasey a STD another time man!" Jack whined watching as I rolled my eyes, feigning annoyance at his comment, "Andrea and Cass are at her house and we have to PRE GAME!"


"Come on Lex..." I pouted looking over my shoulder at him and batting my eyes, "I have to get ready and you have to do whatever it is you boys do before a big party!"


"I HATE YOU GUYS!" Alex whined as I rolled my eyes and took his face in my hands to press my lips to his while Jack groaned and faked a gag only making me smile into the kiss before it broke.


"God! You guys are so cute it's almost nauseating!" Jack gagged causing me to giggle as Alex threw a throw pillow his way. The skunk haired boy shouting as Alex threw another pillow and got off the couch leaving me to fall back into the cushion and watch as Jack jumped out of Alex's way. Each boy snagging a pillow as they began to assault one another.


The cackling sounds of the two boys diminishing as the heavy front door swung open exposing the other duo as they tripped into the house. My hand lifting into the air as Rian and Zack waving as they advanced into the kitchen. Slowly grumbling to myself I got to my feet and made my way into the kitchen, dodging a pillow as it flew across the room and the boys shifted from a frilly pillow fight to simply mangling one another's hair.


"Hey, so when are we supposed to meet to leave for Duncan's?" I asked leaning against the doorway and watched as Zack shrugged and pulled the refrigerator door open.


"We told Cass and Andrea like 10:30..." He answered pulling out a can of soda and popping the tab as I nodded my head and glanced back behind me to smile at the sight of Jack and Alex sprawled over one another on the living-room floor. My smile growing at the sight of them just knowing now that he knew and openly accepted me and Alex being together that once again nothing stood between the two of them. "Duncan said he told people 10 ten, so who knows..."


"Well I'm going to get ready then!" I announced pressing off the wall and turning from the kitchen and heading for the front door of the Gaskarth home.


"Jasey wait!" I heard Alex call after me, sounding as if he was pulling himself off the floor as I spun on my heels to see him trotting down the hall to step in front of me.


"Sorry, uhm I'll see you in a little bit!" I smiled reaching up to peck his lips.


"No uh, actually I wanted to apologize to you..." He murmured scratching at the back of his neck.


"For what?" I laughed looking up at him with curious eyes as he placed his hands gently on my hips.


"I didn't want our first outing as a couple to be with the guys at some booze fest!" He sighed lifting a hand to brush my cheek, "and I know how protective Rian and even the other guys can get at these things..."


"I'll be okay..." I smiled softly leaning into his touch as he let his hand linger, the warmth seeping into my skin making me never want to be without his touch again.


"Okay..." He sighed leaning down ever so slightly to rest his forehead to mine. "Wear something hot!" He smiled lightening the mood of our oddly serious tones as I pulled my head from his to laugh with a slight nod, "but not too hot!" He finished pointing a finger at me, "Jack will be there and so will Rian so keep it PG-13!"


"Yes Sir!" I laughed saluting him as he shoved my shoulder. "You better look sexy as hell!" I winked dramatically as I pulled the door open letting the frigid air slip through the warm entry way.


"Don't I always!?" He gasped as I rolled my eyes and snatched my backpack off the floor of the narrow hall.


"Goodbye Alex!" I laughed ignoring his gape as I stepped out onto his porch. "See you in an hour!"


"Not too sexy!" He screamed as I took off across the street waving him off over my shoulder. My steps careful and staggered as I maneuvered the ice seeing Andrea's car parked in my driveway I let out a sigh knowing getting ready for the party was sure to be a doozy.
