I'll Paint You Wings

I was sitting cross legged by the Christmas tree placing the last piece of tape on the last present I was wrapping to add it to the large colorful pile under the tree since it was seven thirty in the morning on Christmas Eve.

“What’re you doing up so early?” Jack mumbled, arms cradled holding Lexi who was sound asleep.

“Wrapping some last minuet presents” I said softly as to not disrupt the calming atmosphere around us, “and I couldn’t do this one while you were awake cause it’s yours”

Jack laughed as he walked over to lean down and capture my lips into a sweet kiss, “Merry Christmas Eve, baby.”

“Same for you, baby. Gimme Lexi.” I mumbled, holding my arms out for my daughter.

Jack laughed and handed her over before he strolled into the kitchen, “Want some hot chocolate?”

“Yes please.” I called back, staring down at Lexi.

Lexi was squirming in my arms slightly as she yawned and her tiny eye lids fluttered open.

“Morning Lexi May” I cooed with a large sleepy smile on my face.

Her hand flew up to my mouth and I gently nibbled on it with my lips while humming making her giggle.

“Here you go baby” Jack said as he sat down a large mug of hot chocolate on the table next to me.

I smiled in thanks as I wedged Lexi to sit on my thighs in front of me as I carefully sipped on the warm liquid. Lexi’s hands gripped onto the mug making me laugh and pull it away, “No baby, It’s hot!” I exclaimed as my palm touched the mug and made a hurt expression to tell her it would hurt if she touched it. Even though she was still a newborn, It’s never too late to start teaching her things.

“You’re so dramatic” Jack laughed from his spot on the couch in front of me. His legs were tucked up under him and covered with a snowflake blanket as he sipped at his hot chocolate.

I just rolled my eyes and turned my attention back to the squirmy baby on my lap.

It was a few minuets later of blowing raspberries on Lexis stomach and humming songs against her cheek when my head shot back and I got an idea, “Jack!” I shouted, arms jerking making Lexi gasp, and Jack spilling his hot chocolate on his lap making him hiss in pain.

“Jesus Christ, Lex. What?” Jack shouted.

I frowned, “I was thinking we could go see Santa”

“No. I just wanna spend Christmas Eve with you and Lexi. No need to leave the house.” Jack declined.

I groaned as I started playing with Lexi’s hands, waving them around the air, “Whatever, Jack.”

It was when the clock striked eleven did I sigh and pick up my mug filled with hot chocolate and went

out onto the front porch to sit on the swing and watch the snow fall.

Jack was curled up in bed with Lexi fast asleep with Home Alone playing. Jack would place her hands on his mouth and mumble the words to her as the movie would play.

My mind wandered back to the house fire, Jack and I’s first date, getting him comfortable with himself, touching him for the first time, and loving him for the first time.

I was snapped out of my trance when my phone vibrated in my pocket making me pull it out and
accept the call.

“Hello?” I mumbled as I took a sip of my drink.

It was Zack.

“Hey, Lex. We need you at the station.”

At those words, my heart shattered as I knew we wouldn’t be spending out first Christmas together.

And guys, why are comments lacking? I'm getting seriously none on Mibba and a few on ATLF. :/ It makes me not want to update, especially when I don't get comments on Mibba. I hate to be this kind of person but I won't post the next chapter ASAP if I don't get a few comments. At least 3. :c

How do you guys feel about Jack and Alex so far?

PS: I ruined Christmas for them cause my brother ruined Christmas for me cause he did the same. He just left for the station and I won't see him for Christmas
