Get Ready For Action!

Finally, freedom rang through the halls of Dulaney High school as the last bell sounded, alerting the students that the school year was over. Cheers echoed off the busy halls and papers were quickly scattered all over the freshly cleaned floors. Students were flying from the building, rushing to meet their friends and plan the events for the night. Most of them were partying, thankful that they no longer had a curfew to meet.

Jack Barakat was the first of his crew to exit the building. He anxiously awaited the arrival of his two best friends, pacing back and forth beside the beat-up, piece-of-shit car that Alex had purchased earlier that year. What was in store for the night, he didn't know, but he couldn't wait to get the party started.

Rian Dawson pushed his way through a group of giddy girls, flying through the parking lot and landing on Jack's back, screaming loudly with pure joy. Jack snickered, catching his balance and spinning his friend around in a cirlce before planting his feet back on the ground.

"Dude, this Summer is going to be epic!"

"Wouldn't it totally suck if this was the worst Summer ever?" Jack smiled back, shrugging his shoulders. His mind was sorting out all the wonderful adventures they could have, but he was getting frustrated waiting on the third member of their group.

"Jack, I thought we agreed that you were going to try and get past the 'wouldn't it suck' jokes. Please, bro, please don't start that again."

"Well, I was just saying," Jack mumbled, scratching the back of his head. "Like, wouldn't it totally suck if Kara-"

"Jack Bassam Barakat!" Alexander Gaskarth had a cocky grin on his face as he approaced his friends. He had his binder held against his chest, and though he seemed cool and collected, he was just as excited as everyone else. "A lot of things would totally suck, but not this Summer, kay?"

"Alley!" Jack squealed, throwing himself on Alex the exact same way Rian had done to him. He giggled childishly as Alex stumbled forward, nearly losing his balance completely. "Finally, we can leave!"

"What's the hurry?" Alex groaned, using his elbow to knock the hyper-active boy from his back. "Got a hot date tonight?"

"Sure do," Jack smiled brightly, slinging open the passenger door to Alex's car. "Her name is beer, and she's pretty damn sexy."

"Oh my, I must meet this beer you speak of."

"Okay, losers," Rian forced his way into the middle of the conversation. He mocked Jack and slung open the backdoor, sliding his body inside. "Let's get this party started!"

"So what's the plan?" Alex asked as he slid into the drivers seat. He turned on the engine and slowly backed out of the parking space, trying hard not to ram one of the many students who didn't even take notice to the car backing up. "Is Kara picking you up tonight, dude?"

"As always," Rian smiled brightly. Whenever anyone mentioned her name, he turned into a hopeless romantic. "And I think Zack is meeting us at my place."

"Great," Alex beamed, keeping his eyes on the road, but turning his voice to Jack. "What about you? Are you going home or are you just going to chill at my place?"

"Actually, there's something I wanted to talk to you about," Jack turned his face slightly so he could see Alex more clearly. "My family is kind of going on a vacation for the Summer. Apparently my dad got an awesome bonus or whatnot, and I need a place to stay..."

"That's funny, because I was going to ask the same from you when we dropped Rian off."

"What? Your family is going on vacation?"

"Yeah, actually," Alex chuckled, giving Jack a quick glance before he pulled up in front of Rian's house. "My parents are going back to Essex for a few weeks. I had to pretty much pull teeth to get them to agree to let me stay with you for the Summer."

"I had to beg mine," Jack returned the laugh, shifting in his seat. "So what are we going to do?"

"That's easy," Rian leaned up from the backseat, glancing back and forth to his friends. "Jack, you tell your parents that you're staying with Alex. Alex, you tell your parents that you're staying with Jack. And the result? A never ending party at the Gaskarth house!"

"Well," Jack thoughtfully spoke, his eyes wide with happiness. "I think I'm going to have to ask my new lady to move in!"

"Just make sure she's on time tonight," Rian winked at the pair before he slid out the backseat, throwing his arm in the air as he closed the door. "Later, bitches!"

Alex and Jack laughed lightly as they watched their friend disappear through the front door of his home. Jack kept his eyes locked on the house as Alex pulled out, knowing they were only a few minutes from home.

"This won't be weird, will it?" Jack asked, chewing on his bottom lip- Something he did when he was nervous.

"Why would it be weird?" Alex flicked on the turn signal and slowly pulled into his driveway. As he killed the engine, he stared Jack down, noticing his teeth pulling on his lip. "Why are you nervous?"

"It's nothing, just, you know how when couples move in together and they realize how much they can't stand each other? Wouldn't it totally suck if that happened to us?"

"The only way I'm going to begin hating you, Jack, is if you don't stop with those jokes. It'll be fine. We're friends, not lovers. Besides," Alex tilted his head down a little, furrowing his brows as he tried to muster his best seductive voice. "I'll always think you're sex-ay."

"Very funny."

"Now run on home, Jack-y boy, and pack your bags. It's gonna be a wild Summer!"

Notes

I'm gonna be honest, I'm only writing this because I'm an insomniac and I'm bored out of my mind. So I've decided I need something to fill my time, and this is it. Whenever I get bored or can't sleep, I'm going to work on this. It could be updated once a week or six times a day, who knows! If ya like it, lemme know. If ya don't, well, that's okay too! I have no idea where I'm going with this, I just know I thought it'd be fun to write a Jalex fic, and since I'm not taking it too seriously, I can do whatever I want with it. Mwahaha!
