Terrible Things

Band sluts and murder.

“And I know there's someone somewhere, praying that I'll make it home.” I sloppily strummed approximate chords on my acoustic after out last set in Fresno, the third to final destination of Warped. “So here's one from the heart, my life right from the start, I need a home sweet home, to call my own.” I was alone on the bus, and the quiet had bugged me, so I grabbed my guitar and began to sing the first song that came to my head. “You know it's just rock and roll, I know you're by my side through it all, my terror twin and I, let's take over this world.”
“Singing about me again, Alex?” I hadn't heard Jack enter the bus and his voice made me jump. Jack laughed at the realisation that he had scared me. “You keep devoting those songs to me and people will start to believe Jalex is truly real.” I knew what he was getting at and I threw my guitar on my bunk and knelt next to him, grabbing his hand.
“You know I only love you!” Rian raised his eyebrows as he walked towards his bunk but shook our idiocy off, he was used to it. Jack pulled me to my feet and dramatically kissed my cheek.
“I knew you would always give in to Jalex one day!” He kept kissing me and I screwed up my face as his lips covered every possible inch of skin. “Oh, baby, I love you!” A camera flashed outside and a small girl giggled as she was caught and ran away.
“How did she get passed security?” Rian mused as he pulled on a new shirt. We all shrugged it off. There were a fantastic number of photographs and videos of Jack and I kissing that it no longer bothered us. “We got an interview with some dude called Bryan Stars when we arrive in Los Angeles. No idea who he is, but Matt says. Zack's said he's visiting a friend so it's just us three.” Jack and I realised we were still holding hands and pulled apart laughing. Sometimes we were far too comfortable around each other. We nodded to Rian and all left the bus to go to our signing.
“I hope one the fans has big boobs.” Jack whispered to himself as we crossed the venue.
“Really?” I sighed. “You always want big boobs.” I ended up laughing, Jack was the only guy I knew who could sound innocent while saying shit like that. “How about a girl with nice eyes?”
“How about a girl with herpes?” Zack chirped in from behind us, making us all stop walking from laughing so hard.
The line for the signing was huge, and the support All Time Low was still surprising and totally humbling. We waved to the shouting fans as we slid into our seats, beaming with pride. Fan by fan came past us, hugging and squealing, handing over various objects to be signed along with the posters. I stared at the girl approaching me, red lines peeking out from under her bulk of bracelets. I grabbed her hand as she moved passed Rian towards me and pushed the bracelets down. The girl gasped and pulled away quickly, arranging her jewellery so it would cover her scars again.
“I'm sorry,” she whispered, head down, tears forming in her eyes. I held out my arms and gave her a hug over the table.
“You'll be okay, we'll always be here for you, the entire band, 24/7.” I asked for her phone and typed my number in. “Keep that a secret and text me when you need someone to talk to. Promise me you'll never do it again, no matter how bad the urge is.” I held out my pinky and she looped hers with mine and nodded. “What's your name darling?” I squiggled my name on her poster and shirt.
“Rachel.” Her tears had disappeared from her cheeks and were replaced by a full blown grin.
“I'm Alex,” She giggled at my obvious statement. “And I will always be here for you.”
“So will I.”Rian touched her arm down the table and Zack repeated the phrase from next to me, standing to hug her.
“Me too.” Jack slid over the table and spun the small girl in the air, her bright pink swirling around her as she laughed. The girl smiled and thanked us as Zack and Jack signed her poster and shirt and left the signing with a massive smile on her face. We all looked at each other, realising that we had just made a major difference in someone's life, we had made someone promise to make a change. We carried on signing a little brighter than before, happier that we could make a difference to someone.
“My name's Sophie.” A tall blonde girl flicked her hair over her shoulder as she held out a book for Rian to sign along with her poster. Rian smiled at her and said hi before sliding the poster to me. I knew that voice, band slut. I gave Jack a look, telling him to not dare act on the batting of the eyelashes. I signed her stuff, along with Zack and we both seemed to notice the girl push her chest out just a little bit more as she got to Jack's station. Jack's eyes widened as the girl leaned over the table and pushed her book towards him.
“Hey there, Jack.” Sophie winked at him and his face brightened even further.
“Hi, Sophie, was it?” The girl nodded and giggled falsely, but Jack didn't care, she had big boobs.

“I can't believe you actually brought her back to the bus.” I sighed as I took a seat opposite Jack, Sophie on his knee. Sophie smiled dumbly and wrapped her arm around his shoulder, pulling his face closer to her chest and Jack definitely noticed. His eyes never left her cleavage as he retorted.
“Come on Alex, you know double D's are my biggest weakness.” Rian choked on his water as he laughed and Zack almost dropped his weight. “And she's just so... HOT.” Sophie giggled for what seemed like the one hundredth time since she got onto the bus.
“We said no fans.” Zack groaned. “Yet, here we are.” Jack shot Zack a devil glare and he instantly recoiled and returned to his lifting. I retreated to my bunk as Jack and Sophie started to make out and the two others followed me, continuing into the back lounge. “Fifa it is.”I fell instantly into a dreamless sleep, even though it was inly four in the afternoon.

ZACK'S POV

Rian pressed the button and scored his fifth goal in the last ten minutes.
“Shit, Zack.” He threw his controller onto the couch. “What's wrong with you? You usually whip my ass!” I had to tell him, I had to tell someone.
“I'm not visiting friends when we get to Los Angeles.” Rian looked at me confused, he didn't see why that was such a big deal. “It was a cover, I'm going to talk to Carrie.” Rian groaned.
“Zack, is that the best idea?” He took the top off his half-empty water bottle and took a swig. “You've caused enough trouble as it is.” I sighed. I knew that, I was trying to make it right, I wanted to fix it.
“I want to talk to her, I told her she was hurting Alex.” I dropped the controller and leant back in the couch. “And by the look on her face at Pierce The Veil's set, she still believes that, even after all he said.” Rian put a hand on my shoulder as I became more frustrated with myself. “It's my fault Alex is having break downs every night and drowning out his emotions with drinks. Like, shit Rian. What is he ends up like Tom?” Rian's arm dropped on the mention of Alex's older brother. His death was still fresh in all of our minds and had torn a rift between the band and Alex for a while as he recovered from the death. The last thing we wanted was for him to follow in his brothers footsteps.
“He won't go the same way as Tom.” Rian shook his head. “He still has his wits about him, he knows his boundaries.”

“But if he does! If he does, Rian, it's my fault.” Tears started to fall down my cheeks. “If he does, I've killed him. I've killed our best friend because I made assumptions on what was going on in that fucked up brain of his.” My voice dropped to a whisper. “If I can't fix this, I've killed him.”

Comments

This story is so good! OMG. I just found it and started reading it yesterday, and haven't stopped. I just caught up with all of the updates you have of it and really love it.
It's a very dark fan fic. Specifically with the first half, honestly one of the darkest I've read actually... like with that curse of everything happening on Sundays? Man... and you just kind of kept it up too. It was just very dark, and sad, but... different. And I really like that about this.
The second half seems to be deviating from that a little bit, but I sensed that coming back with the babies thing. I mean, not that I want anything to happen, but I almost feel you had something bad happening planned with the pregnancy. Perhaps not, perhaps that was just to raise some of the tone as opposed to keeping it happy go lucky, who knows. But I found it interesting how you did that.
I'm glad that Alex and Carrie finally got together, with the first part of this I was just screaming GET TOGETHER until they finally did. lol. And I was happy. :)
I found it a bit odd how they just took in those fans though. On a realistic writing level, the oddity of this story was the curse thing. But adding the fans thing in too, it just... it didn't really fit. Especially considering legalities and all of that. I feel like it was a little too easy that they gained guardianship.
But overall, I have enjoyed Alex and Carrie's love story. I'm sad to see it was never finished, so I'm leaving this comment to let you know if you ever do choose to finish it, I will be here to read, for sure. I'd love to see how it all ends for these two. Even if it's just a final chapter wrap up or something; I understand what it's like losing inspiration.
But yeah, sorry if this comment sounded harsh at all, but just wanted to leave my honest thoughts. I think you're a truly great writer, though, and hope you have at least kept up with it in your free time. :)
