Can Love Last?

The Game

Alex’s POV
Finally! High school is over! Since Arianna’s so smart, she was able to make up the time she missed and still graduate on time with the rest of us. The band’s getting pretty serious, so none of us went to college. Finally, everything seems to be working out right.

Suddenly, I remember what day it is! The AFC Championships! You see, Arianna’s always been a huge New England Patriots fan, but me and the guys are all Ravens fans. I invited her over to watch the game.
My doorbell rings. Crap! It’s probably Ari. Luckily, I have lots of food around. I run up the stairs, already in my Ray Lewis #52 jersey, and answer the door. I don’t know whether to laugh or whistle. Hot damn, Arianna.

She’s dressed in a Wes Welker #83 jersey, who is her favorite player due to his shortness but great ability to catch and protect the ball, a pair of silver tights, and my converse.

“You know, staring is considered rude Alex.” She said, walking in and standing on tiptoe to kiss my cheek.

“What? I mean, uh hey.” I’m such an idiot. She just giggles. I take her by the hand and lead her down to the basement, where we sit watching the game. The Patriots take a pretty strong lead in the first half, even though they’re missing #87, Rob Gronkowski, their leading tight end, and Aqib Talib, their best cornerback.

“We’re so gonna win!” Ari exclaims, poking me in the side.

“We’ll see!”

We’re watching the game in contented silence, Ari occasionally flinching at a big hit. When the Patriots #22, Stevan Ridley gets knocked unconscious and then ends up on the bottom of a dog pile, she really freaks out. He ends up leaving the game with a head injury.

“Ugh, that’s the one thing I hate about football. Well, that and the fact that your team is now winning.”

“Oh Ari. Learn to live with it.”

Pouting, she moves to the other end of the couch. The Ravens end up winning, but she doesn’t say anything.

“Ari?”

“Babe I’m sorry.”

“If you don’t say something soon I’m going to come over there.”

“That’s it!” I rush over and tackle her to the floor, tickling her.

“Oh my gosh Alex stop!” She says laughing and breathless.

“Not until you kiss me!”

“Never!”

“Okay Alex fine!” She leans up and kisses me lightly on the mouth. It starts to get more and more heated,
me hovering over her on my basement floor. I think I might know where this could lead. That is until we hear someone clear their throat.

I look up to see Jack, Zack, and Rian standing there with cases of beer, also in their Ravens stuff. Jack finally speaks.

“Hey, um, guys. We were wondering if you wanted to celebrate/mourn the loss with us.”

“Sure sounds good.” Ari and I say, awkwardly standing up. Rian is staring at us intently.

“Alex, can I talk to you for a sec?”

“Sure Rian.”

When he leaves the room, I hesitate to follow. I have the feeling I’m not going to enjoy this.

Here it is, as promised!
Thank you all so much for your support, and please do let me know if it sucks. I mean honestly. I'm kind of lost with this. That's not a bid for attention - it's the truth.

<3 well thank you so much! But I wrote 30 chapters, I was running out of drama and I didn't want to just keep writing it for the sake of writing it.
@SociallyAwkwardRocker but...but....but....this story was so perfect <3
