Star Light, Star Bright

The Party Scene

“Hey Jack,” the caramel-eyed boy says as he walks into the living room.
Alex has just gotten off his shift at Hot Topic, and he needs to ask Jack something. He walks over to the couch and sits down next to the Lebanese boy. The seventeen-year-old gives him a quick smile before going back to the show that he turned on. The almost twenty-year-old can’t help but find it adorable. Actually, Jack is just adorable in general. It’s just times like this when the elder really doesn’t want to hold in his feelings anymore. Jack has his legs pulled up to his chest. His arms are on top of them, and so is his head. His eyes are fixated on the TV, and he’s biting his thumbnail, just waiting for something dramatic to happen again. When doesn’t something dramatic happen in Being Human?
Yeah, Alex really just wants to tell Jack about his crush on him. Is it even a crush anymore? It started off as a simple one, but now, it might have become liking. He wants to hold Jack while watching movies and sneak little kisses in. Alex doesn’t just find him cute physically anymore. He also finds his personality cute as well. Originally he was planning on waiting ‘til Jack got enough of his memory back, but Alex doesn’t think he can wait that long.
“Can I ask you something?” Alex questions the younger.
“After this,” Jack tells him. “This episode is almost over.”
When the episode ends, his eyes are wide. The supernatural show has played with his emotions yet again. He starts to go for the remote but stops when he remembers that Alex wanted to talk to him. He has no idea what his friend wants to ask him. He hasn’t done anything wrong, right? Jack hasn’t done anything different. He cleans the apartment while Alex is gone and watches Netflix. Alex never told him to not do that. There hasn’t been any change, so what could he want to talk to him about?
“What did you want to ask me?” Jack’s face has worry written on it.
“It’s nothing bad,” Alex reassures him. “It’s just that there is a party tonight, and I wanted to know if you wanted to go with me. Rian and Zack will be there along with Rian’s girlfriend, Cassadee. I won’t leave your side unless one of them is with you.”
“Um, I guess as long as you make sure I’m with someone. It’s not going to be outside like the one you found me at?”
“No, it’ll be indoors. You don’t have to be afraid of being cold.”
“OK. Do you have enough time to watch one more episode?”
“Just enough.”
The seventeen-year-old quickly grabs the remote and puts the next episode on. He focuses on the TV, but instead of the position he was in, he snuggles up to Alex, who draps his arm over the younger’s shoulders. This is the life, watching a great show with your best friend or, in Alex’s case, the person who you like. Is it really like now? Yeah. Yeah, it is. The feeling is stronger than before. That feeling in his stomach that feels like wings are just barely touching the sides. Jack always gives Alex this feeling, and it’s stronger than ever. How long can he keep it inside?
When the episode ends, the Lebanese boy wants to put on the next episode, but he already told Alex that he’d go. The duo get up and go to the bathroom to pick out an outfit to wear. The elder already knows what he’s going to wear. He grabs his American flag jeans, a black Blink shirt that he just got, and a blue and plaid flannel shirt to go over top. Jack, on the other hand, has no idea what to wear. He’s never been to a party at all, and it doesn’t help because he knows nothing about parties in this time.
“Alex?”
“Yeah?”
“I kind of need help picking out an outfit.”
“Oh, I can help with that.”
Alex goes over to his closet and grabs a short-sleeve green plaid shirt to go over top one of Jacks. He goes over to the younger’s clothes and grabs a plain white T-shirt and a pair of nice skinny jeans. He hands them to the slightly taller teen, who looks at them and smiles. This outfit will do just nicely.
“Thanks.”
“Don’t mention it. Now, we better get going. I think they already left for it.”
The two teens put their coats and shoes on before heading out the door. They make their way down and to Alex’s car. The friends get inside and start to leave. Music comes on from the Blink CD that Jack had put in. The elder doesn’t mind at all, and Jack is grateful for that. He’s really in the mood to listen to some music because this party is making him nervous. What happens if they get separated? What if he makes a fool of himself? Just, what if? Alex seems to notice Jack’s nervousness and starts to talk to him.
“It won’t be that bad,” Alex tries to tell him. “The worst that could happen is it being really boring. You don’t have to drink anything. In fact, you don’t even have to talk to anyone. Although, I would hope you’d still talk to my friends and me. I like hearing you talk. You’re really cool, and they think you’re interesting.”
“Oh course I’ll talk to you, and I’ll try to talk to your friends as well I guess.”
The ride to the party is short and filled with music. When they get there, Alex parks, and they go inside. Jack could hear the dance music as soon as he got out of the vehicle, but now it’s overwhelming. There are some people with red cups in their hands talking, sitting alone, kissing, and dancing. Well, Jack thinks that’s dancing. They are moving to the music, but they look like they are just rubbing against each other. What kind of people do that?
“Let’s go find everyone,” Alex shouts over the tune in order for the younger to hear. “Normally, they’ll hang out in the kitchen until everyone gets here.”
The taller teen takes a hold of the slightly shorter one before they make their way into the kitchen. It’s not as crowded as the living room area, but it still has a lot of people in it, and some of them aren’t Alex’s friends. They maneuver their way to the other side of the kitchen, but they still don’t see them.
“They must have gone without us. I know that they should already be here.”
“I’m sorry I took so long.”
“It’s not your problem. Besides, I’m sure that we’ll find them. Let’s start looking. They might be in the living room somewhere. We should check there first.”
Alex and Jack make their way back out into the living room to see if they can find their friends. They can’t. None of them are in sight. Alex really doesn’t know where they could have went. They could be in the back, but he thought that they wouldn’t go out there just yet. Actually, sometimes they don’t go out at all.
“I’m going to text them to see where they’re at.”
Alex:Where are you guys? Jack and I are already here.
Rian:Sorry about that. Cassadee couldn’t decide on what to wear, and then she had us pick up a new friend of her’s. I think she’s in one of your classes. We’re almost there now.
Alex:OK. We’ll be waiting. We’re in the living room, so don’t look in the kitchen first.
Rian:Got it.
“They should be here soon,” Alex tells his friend. “They had to pick someone else up, and Cassadee couldn’t make up her mind on what to wear.”
“Oh, OK.”
“We should do something while we wait... Jack, I have a question for you now.”
“What?”
“Do you know how to dance?”

Notes

Sorry this took forever. I would have update last week, but I took a week off. I went to two concerts right after each other, and I was worn out. I'm debating on if I should write the next chapter tonight, so I may or may not put the next chapter up early. It's just that it was all suppose to be one, but it would have been to long, so I made it two.
I hope you're like the story so far!
