Star Light, Star Bright

A Party Song

Jack blushes. “I don’t really know how to dance. I only know one dance.”
“Well, let’s dance together.”
“What?”
“I’ll even be the woman. Come on. It’ll be fun.”
“Well, I... I guess that we can.”
Jack takes a hold of Alex’s hand and rests his other hand on his waist. Alex sees where this is going, so he puts his free hand on the back of Jack’s neck. They start to dance with the music. Luckily, the song is in threes. They move to the beat slowly, and Alex feels his cheeks warm up. The younger does too, but he doesn’t know why. It just assumes that it’s because he’s actually dancing in front of people and not because Alex is cute. Why does he keep thinking that he’s cute?
Jack stops dancing. “Um, yeah. That’s all I got.”
“Nothing wrong with that. It’s a lot better than everyone else’s dancing.”
“Thanks.”
It didn’t take that long before Alex’s friends came. They all start talking, and Jack kind of just stands there. The elder tries to get him to talk, but he only says a few words. It’s not that he doesn’t want to. It’s because he still feels like he doesn’t belong with them. He belongs with Alex but not them. Eventually, Rian and Cassadee leave to do their thing. That leaves only Alex, Jack, Zack, and Cassadee’s friend, Brittany. She has short brown hair and bright green eyes. Her personality is loud and immature at all times. Eventually the times comes when Alex has to leave them for a bit.
“I have to take a piss,” he says. “Zack, Brittany, watch Jack for me.”
Alex walks off leaving the three of them. Zack and Brittany start talking about photography, and Jack really has no idea what they are talking about. It’s getting really boring, but then Brittany comes up with an idea. Maybe that will make things a little bit more enjoyable. She takes Jack and Zack’s hands and drags them out of the building and to the back where the pool is. Maybe a change in scenery will help. Well, it didn’t change it all that much.
They stand out there just like they were inside, but this time, Jack is looking around at everyone. Everyone is pretty much drunk. He doesn’t really like it, but he sees something that he really doesn’t like because it brings back a memory. There is this black-haired guy staring at this blonde girl that is walking to her friends.
I don’t like how he’s looking at her.
~
The nineteen-year-old walks out of the bathroom and is about to make his downstairs when something stops him. Well, it’s actually a someone. It’s his ex girlfriend. The woman that broke his heart and ruined everything. She spots him and makes her way over to him. Alex starts to walk away in the other direction, but she hurries up and runs over to him. His legs continue going, but her’s do too.
“Aren’t you going to stop and say hi?” she asks while batting her eyelashes.
“I’m not in the mood.”
“You were always in the mood when we were together. What’s do different now?”
“You know what it is.”
“I do, but I’d love to hear you say it again.”
“You’re sick.”
“That’s not what they were telling me. So, have you found yourself a new woman?”
“That’s none of your business.”
“Oh, you have.”
Alex turns around to face her and shouts in her face. “Just leave me the fuck alone! What don’t you get about that?!”
A male scream brings Alex out of his hell. His eyes go wide because that sounds a lot like Jack. He rushes to the living room to find that none of his friends are in there. Where did they go? Next he checks the kitchen, but they aren’t there either. The only other place that he can think to look is outside. The brunet runs out as fast as he can to find a soaking wet and screaming Jack. He quickly rushes over to him while taking his coat off at the same time. He wraps it over the youngers shoulders and holds him as Jack cries into his shoulder.
“What happened?” the nineteen-year-old asks.
“Some drunk guy came and pushed Jack in the pool. I got him out, but he started freaking out,” Zack explains.
“Jack is afraid of being cold.”
“I want to go home!” Jack sobs. “I don’t want to be here!”
“Don’t worry. I don’t want to be here anymore either. Let’s go home.”
Alex helps Jack stand and walks him out to the car. He tries them home and tells Jack that he can get a shower to warm up. The seventeen-year-old goes ahead and does what Alex suggested. He’ll do practically anything in order to get warm again. The younger goes into the bathroom and turns on the warm water. He strips before getting under the warm water. It burns at first, but then it starts to feel really good. Jack makes sure that the water has warmed all of him up and washes his tears away. He didn’t want Alex to see him cry, but he couldn’t help it. It just happened.
When he feels warm enough, Jack turns the water off and wraps a towel around his waist. He makes his way into the bedroom and starts to put pajamas on. As he does this, he hears Alex’s voice in the hallway. He’s talking on the phone with someone. Jack knows that it’s not the right thing to do, but he goes over to the bedroom doorway and listens in.
“She said hi to me, and then she tried to get me to say what happened between us like the fucking bitch that she is. I hate her so fucking much. Plus, there is what happened with Jack... He was pushed into the pool and was freaking out because it was cold... He’s afraid of being cold... Oh, and Rian, I need some advice. I don’t know if I can wait any longer. I haven’t known him that long, but he’s amazing. He’s cute and fun... Yeah, I know I said I’d wait for him to get most of his memory back, but I can’t wait any longer. I mean, he can do stuff on his own now so that’s good. I just don’t know what to do...”
Jack closes the door and then lays down in the bed. So many thoughts are running through his head. Mostly, he is just trying to figure out what Alex meant. Jack doesn’t get it at all. What could he be talking about? The younger knows that he was talking about him, but why? It sounds like... No, that just couldn’t be why. There has to be another reason why he would talk like that. It’s just that Jack can’t figure out what that other reason is.
It doesn’t take long before Alex walks into the bedroom as well. He turns the light off before getting in next to Jack. They decided on just sharing the bed after the first three days of Alex sleeping on the couch. Now, Jack can ask him what he meant. He just doesn’t know how the elder will take that he was listening in. Hopefully, he won’t get mad.
“Alex?”
“Yeah?”
“I’m sorry, but I heard you talking on the phone. What were you talking to Rian about?”
“Oh, um, I was just telling him why we left without saying bye.”
“Oh, and Alex?”
“What happened between you and her?”
“That’s a question that I’m not going to answer.”

Notes

I'm sorry this is late. I completely forgot about it.
I don't really like this chapter. I was writing it while talking to two of my friends. Plus, I was really happy today.
So, I've met ATL before last Oct., but today, my email was read on Full Frontal. Apparently I'm crazy and work for the government. (I was actually talking about my class in it.) It's just that I was not expecting that at all. I've been emailing them almost every week from the last two seasons. I didn't think that they would actually read this one. I mean, I wanted them to because I wanted them to know where Grimace is from but seriously. It took me by surprise. Now, I have something to tell my friends about tomorrow.
Anyway, I hope you like how this is going! I wonder if Alex is going to do something about his feelings and what happened with his ex. (I actually wasn't going to make her this much of a bitch, but I typed it out, so there it is.)
