Just Breathe

Christmas came and went and I had been in the states for almost four months, and I fell in love with it. I never want to go back to Essex, that hell I used to call home. Anyway, it’s New Year’s Eve and I’m waiting on Jack to get his sexy ass to my house, my plan for tonight is to kiss him at midnight, I’m going to sing him a song with a hidden meaning and when the clock strikes midnight and this ball thing they talk about reaches the bottom I’m going to lay a passionate kiss on his lips. I was nervous yet very excited, Rian and Zack are helping me with everything, I basically poured my feeling out to them and they said they would help me. I sat on my bed bouncing my leg on the floor.
“Dude are you nervous?” Zack asked
“Just a little bit, I’ve never been this nervous. Like what if he doesn’t like me back?” I asked
“Kid you don’t have to worry about that.” Rian said
“Kid?” I asked
“Yeah, that’s my thing.” He said
“Oh, alright hit it and quit it.” I said
Rian looked over at Zack and flicked him off.
“Don’t be mean to me.” Zack said
“You told him.” Rian whined
“Told me what?” I asked
“Didn’t he tell you why he calls me that?” Rian asked
I shook my head.
“You have to tell me now.” I said
“No.” Rian said
“Well he was ‘dating’ this girl freshman year. He was such an asshole and he just wanted to sleep with her, so when he did he left her and never talked to her again. Hit it and quit it.” Zack said
I laughed and covered my mouth and looked at him.
“I just wanted to lose my virginity.” Rian said looking down at the ground
“It happens buddy, as long as you’re not an asshole anymore.” I said
He nodded and I smiled at Zack.
“What?” He asked
“It’s almost time.” I said
“I see; he’s actually on his way. So we’re going to skedaddle out the back and we’ll see you tomorrow.” Rian said
I nodded and they ran out the back door right as my front one opened.
“Lexie poo I’m home.” Jack said walking into the house.
“Jackie poo I’m in my room!” I called
I heard the stairs creak and he appeared in my door way.
“Are you ready for your first New Years in Maryland?” He asked
I nodded and patted the bed next to me.
“I want to sing you something.” I said picking my guitar up.
He walked over and sat down and smiled his cute ass smile.
“Should I write myself out of the history books and mark a place in time for every chance you took? “What is that song about?” He asked
“I may tell you later.” I smiled
He laughed and looked me in the eyes.
“Does it have a name?” He asked
“No, not yet.” I said
“So Alex I have a question.” He said
“What is your question?” I asked
“Are you..” He asked getting cut off by my mom
“Boys come eat!” My mom yelled down the stairs
Jack looked at me.
“I’ll ask later.” He said
“Okay.” I smiled
We walked up stairs and ate the subs my mom had made, they were amazing.
“You’re such an awesome cook. Maybe you could teach my mom a few tricks.” Jack said
My mom laughed
“Maybe.” My mom said
Jack smiled and I looked at him and he had sauce on his face.
“Jack.” I said
He looked at me.
“You have sauce on your face.” I said
“Where?” He asked
“Here.” I said pointing to my face
He started wiping his face in the wrong spot.
“Is it gone?” He asked
“No.” I said
“Get it Lex.” He said
I laughed and licked my thumb and wiped off the sauce.
“Thanks.” He smiled
I nodded and we just watched T.V he didn’t bring up the question he was going to ask.
“Lex its almost time.” Jack said bouncing in his seat.
“What’s so exciting about this?” I asked
“I don’t really know, it just is. You get to be with friends and or family, you get to eat a lot of food and the year ends and another one begins. I don’t know it’s just exciting.” He said bouncing
He was so cute when he’s excited. I know what you guys are thinking that what is I kiss him and he doesn’t like me. Well that’s not going to happen because to my knowledge he does like me because he talks to Zack about it all of the time
“Alex what are you thinking about?” Jack asked poking my cheek
“Lots of stuff.” I said
“ALEX!” He screamed
“What! Dude you are right next to me.” I said
“Look at the T.V.” He said
I looked over and there was a countdown on the tv and the big ball started to slowly drop. I looked over at Jack who had the biggest smile on his face, I watched the time and touched his shoulder when it was on five seconds.
“Yeah?” He asked taking a glance away from the TV
“Jack.” I said
He raised his eyebrows and mouthed the counts from three, I leaned in and the clock struck midnight as our lips connected. His lips automatically got in sync with mine; this kiss sent sparks through my entire body. When I pulled away I looked at Jack with a hopeful look on my face, he just shook his head and pulled my face back to his. I’m going to go with that he likes me back? Just an observation.
“I wanted to do that around Christmas.” He said after he pulled away
“Really? Then why did you get so awkward under the mistletoe?” I asked
“I wasn’t for sure that you were gay, that’s what I was going to ask you earlier before dinner was done. If I would have kissed you and you were straight I would have lost the most important person in my life.” He said
I smiled at him and placed a gentle kiss on his nose.
“So Jack?” I smiled
“Yes?” He asked
“Will you be my boyfriend?” I asked
“I don’t know man, I’m going to have to sleep on this answer.” He said
I pouted my bottom lip out at him
“I’m definitely joking. Fuck yes I will be your boyfriend.” He said smiling
I smiled and sealed the deal with a kiss.
“What are Rian and Zack going to think?” He asked
“They helped me plan tonight, so I think they’ll be okay with it.” I smiled
He smiled at me and my mom came in and smiled at me and I nodded.
“Jack.” My mom said
“Miss?” He asked
“Welcome.” She said
“I felt welcomed the day I met you.” He said
She smiled and he got up and hugged her, my mom kissed his cheek and looked at me.
“I’m going to get some sleep and then I have to work all day tomorrow so you two are on your own.” She said
“Okay, thanks mom. I think we might go to sleep too, I’m thoroughly exhausted.” I said
She nodded and I gave her a hug, Jack and I shut down everything and walked downstairs to my room. He had a big smile on his face.
“What’s got you smiling?” I asked knowing the answer
“You.” He said
“Well you’re the reason for my smile. I was honestly really nervous about all of tonight, I didn’t want to disgust you or anything.” I said
“Nothing you could ever so would disgust me.” He said
“So I could pick my nose and then pick my butt and then eat with my hands?” I asked
“No, no. Don’t do that.” He smiled
I laughed and he sat down on my bed and I laid down and put my head in his lap.
“Hey Lex?” He asked
“Yeah?” I wondered
“I have a question.” He laughed
“Ask anything you want.” I said
“This may be very stereotypical but… do you prefer coffee or tea?” He asked
I started laughing and when I calmed down I smiled.
“If I’m sick I like herbal or green tea but on a normal basis I like coffee.” I said
“I see. I like coffee.” He said
“I know that Jack.” I smiled
“You do?” He laughed
“Yes sir.” I smiled
He started running his fingers through my hair, I loved it when people did that, it just feels good.
“Want to cook breakfast tomorrow when we wake up?” I asked
“Yes, that would be delightful.” He said
“Delightful?” I asked
“My sister says it when I got to her house. “It’s so delightful to see you Jack”” He said mocking his sister
“Well then, you’re sister’s cool though.” I said
“Yes sir.” He laughed
As we laid there we hear police sirens racing down the street, I looked up and Jack and I knew he was thinking the same thing. We both jumped up not even bothering to put on shoes and we raced upstairs, out the front door, and down to his house. When we got there the police were surrounding the place.
“You two can’t go in.” An officer said
“This is my house.” Jack said taking my hand and pushing past the office.
