Fall for Winter on Our Own

Safe

Alex kept Jack close to him as they run through the halls in the council. He could feel them slowing down, and he knew what that meant. One of the Children must be close by. The couple fought off his will and kept running. They had to get to the only safe place inside the city where the council should be, and they had to hurry. If the prophecy was right, they weren’t going to be able to take down the Children. The only thing that they could do was to get to the council and help plan.
They made a turn down another hallway. Just one more hallway, and they’ll be in front of the door. Of course, life isn’t that simple. A figure appears in front of them. They quickly stopped and braced themselves. The figure in front of them is wearing a light blue cloak. By the color and what was happening to them earlier, they knew that this must be Sloth.
“You’re not going to do anything,” Sloth smiled. “You’re not going to do anything at all. You’re just going to let the snakes get you.”
Alex and Jack put up a strong mental barrier. Luckily, Sloth wasn’t at full strength yet. Jack blasted a bolt of light at him which caught him off guard. He fell down, and in that time, Jack and Alex made a run for it. They could sense Sloth getting closer to them, but they were already at the door. Jack sent one more blast of light to knock Sloth back down before helping Alex to unlock the door. As soon as the door opens, they run through and shut it behind them with their magick.
“Is Sloth still out there?” a familiar voice asked from behind them.
They turned around to find Luna and Cymbeline standing there. “Yes,” Alex answered. “We just ran into him.”
“Hopefully this little attack won’t last much longer.”
“Little?” Jack questioned. “You call this little?”
“It’s nothing compared to what is going to come,” Luna said as she came to the defence of her sister’s words. “They’re just trying to scare us and make themselves known. They aren’t at full power yet. That’s when the real fighting will begin. Hopefully, the guardians will all get together and weaken them before that time comes.”
“Who turned eighteen anyway? Enid still has a month. The council said that she was probably the oldest.”
“Actually, I knew who it was, but I was trying to protect him.”
“Why would you do that?” Alex questioned. “Is the reputation of this guy worth putting us all in danger especially when everyone was going to find out soon anyway? You’ve always been so smart, so why did you make such a stupid decision?”
“Because he’s my son!” Alex and Jack just stare at her. “I didn’t want the same thing that happened to his father to happen to him. I wouldn’t be able to live knowing that my son killed himself when I could have stopped it from happening. Why do you think I divorced my last husband? Everyone thought we were perfect for each other and didn’t know why I did it. I found out that he was putting my son down, and I wouldn’t, no, couldn’t except that. He’s sensitive because of what he went through. He’s probably hating himself right now because I either found out or figured out that he’s the oldest of the guardians.” She put her head in her hands. “I am so thankful that Enid is with him. He’d probably do something stupid if it wasn’t for her being there.”
Jack goes over to her and puts his arms around her in a hug. “We’re sorry...We’d do the same thing.”
“Don’t worry. It’s ok. You didn’t know. Anyway, we should probably get to the other council members they’re in the secret room just in case.”
The four of them walk over to the wall and use their powers to write their codes onto the wall. It disappears, and they go inside. Inside they find the twelve other members of the council sitting and standing around the room. They don’t even look to see who had entered the room. The group of four migrate over to a lone corner and just stand there.
“Do you think that they’re ok?” Cymbeline asked and broke the silence of the small group. “I mean, they are together, and Aeolus knows where the safe haven is, but...”
“Enid may not look like it, but she can hold her own in a fight,” Alex stated. “She’s learned from the best, and I’m sure that Aeolus can hold his own too. Right now, they have the power to at least get away if they had too. They’re probably planning on what to do next, which reminds me, what are we all going to do next?”
“Well,” Luna started, “I believe that we’re just staying here until this attack is over. After that, I believe we’re going to check on the damage and work on fixing everything important and preparing for battle. I’m also pretty sure that we’re suppose to stay here the whole time too.” She whispered the next part. “The twelve are such selfish fucks. I know the reason why we’re staying here, and that’s because they don’t want to get hurt. They’re fine with the citizens burning, but they can’t get hurt. Did you know how Taurus and Virgo treat their own daughter? They separated because of her. They didn’t want the council to know that they were together, so they separated after she was born. They give her everything she wants, but they are never there for her. To them, she’s just a bastard child that they’d like to forget. I can’t stand these people. Hopefully that little secret end of the prophecy comes true.”
“What secret end?”
“It’s the part that the council doesn’t know about.” Luna whispered it to Jack and Alex.

Notes

Originally, this was going to be longer (and better), but I haven't really been writing and getting on the internet (unless you count Final Fantasy XIV and my other Jalex). Originally, I was going to have this chapter be continuing Enid and Aeolus, but I thought that I should put some Jalex, Luna, and Cymbeline in there and what's happening with them which really isn't that much.
Anyway, I might be in the mood to update another one of my stories tomorrow. I've been on the couch all day leveling my miqo'te conjurer. Couch+All Day= Des with a sore neck and not wanting to do anything. LOL. Tomorrow, I'm going to get to practice cello since I'll be back home at 6, so I might be in a writing mood tomorrow night. I really need to update my stories, and I'm sorry for being so slow with them all. I even have this great idea for another one that I know that I'd update on time like my other Jalex. I just haven't finished the first chapter because I don't want to put a new story up until I update all my stories.
Anyway, sorry for being so slow with this, and writing a lot just now. (I'm tired.)
