Fall for Winter on Our Own

A New War Begins

“Morning Enid,” my best friend, Aeolus said to me as I walked into my classroom. “What’s up?”
“The sky,” I replied when I sat down.
“Don’t forget the clouds too.”
“I wouldn’t dream of it. How was your weekend?”
“It was pretty good. The family that couldn’t see me last week came to visit. You would not believe how much I wanted you to come over.”
“Why didn’t you just ask me?”
“I didn’t want them to embarrass me in front of you!”
“What do they know that I don’t? Besides, you know everything about me. I didn’t think we kept secrets in this relationship.”
“Well, there are some that we just can’t tell each other.”
“Is it something not school appropriate like when I had my period or something like that?”
“That’s not a secret! That’s just something that I didn’t want to know!”
“Two weeks ago.”
“Dang it! I didn’t want to know!”
“Too late now, sucka!”
“Everyone sit down,” the alchemy teacher said when he entered the room. “It’s time to learn how to make potions now and to socialize later.” Everyone did as he said. It was a known fact to not mess with him. You know that there is always that one teacher that everyone is scared of? Well, that was their alchemy teacher. “I can only just imagine what your parents would be thinking of you talking so much. There are only two grades in here that a parent would actually be proud of.” He looked over in the direction of Enid and Aeolus. “Of course is does make since. The daughter of the chosen ones and the son of Luna and one of the previous elemental guardians. It just makes sense that the two of you would be the two highest in this class.”
The students stared at Enid and her best friend. Although everyone liked them because they acted just like any other student, their alchemy teacher always reminded them that they could never be as strong as the children of any power witch. It was just impossible.
Their eyes stopped looking at the smartest in their class when the whole building started to shake. Aeolus grabbed Enid and put a shield of magick around them. Some of the other students were able to do this as well before the flames engulfed the building. Some souls were lost instantly. Others were not able to hold up their barriers. Aeolus was strong though and determined, so his stayed up the entire time that they ran out of the building.
As soon as the were out, they looked at saw that there was fire everywhere. Confused and lost, and they started to run as far away from it that they could. Enid knew that she had to get to her parents, and Aeolus knew that he had to get to his mom, but they couldn’t. They knew that there was something chasing them. They didn’t know what it was, but they knew that it was there. Finally Enid couldn’t take it anymore. She stopped dead in her tracks, turned around, and shot a powerful blast at it.
The creature that was now slightly injured and holding it’s arm was the most beautiful woman that she has ever seen. This creature drew her in with her looks, and it made her want to do things that she never even thought about doing herself. Her hair was long and black, her eyes were a brilliant yellow, and her body was soft and skinny. She looked like she was a model. As soon as she was drawn in, she was drawn out. Her eyes were being covered but who she believed to be Aeolus.
“You can’t look at her. She’s like Medusa, but she doesn’t turn her victims to stone. She makes them fall for her. During this, she drains their powers. She’s a succubus, and one of the children of the Darkness,” Aeolus told her as he took her hand and had her run away again.
“How did you know that?”
“My mom told me.”
“Did your mom know this was all going to happen? What’s going on? The darkness was defeated!”
“I know. Your parents destroyed it.”
“Then how are they here.”
“Like I said. They are the children of darkness. I’ll explain everything when we find somewhere safe to go.”
“We should get to our parents.”
“We can’t. That would be obvious.”
“Then where do you think we should go?”
“I know just the place. Put an invisibility spell that you learned in that class last year. I wasn’t in it, so I haven’t learned it yet.”
“Alright.”
Enid chanted the spell, and the two of them became invisible to all creatures but themselves. Aeolus started to take her in another direction. The girl had no idea where he could be taking her. Although she had been out exploring with her parents before, this was her first time in this area.
The taller of the two led his friend into a forest. Of course, Enid had been in the forest outside of the city, but this part was completely unknown to her. Most people never left the city, and the others didn’t even think about entering the forest in the first place. They continued to run. Enid started to get tired from not only the running but also the fact that this whole time she had been keeping a spell that she hasn’t even used that much on the two of them. Finally they reached some kind of small stone building. Aeolus took her up to the door and chanted something under his breath. Within seconds, the doors opened. These same doors shut as soon as they entered.
“You can take the spell off. No one is going to be able to get in here.”
“Where are we?” Aeolus leads her down the only thing in the room, the stairs leading down into the earth.
“This is where my mother hid me during the battle that your parents fought in.”
“I think I remember her mentioning something about that.”
Once they reached the bottom floor, he opened another door with a chant and sealed it up with a different one. The two of them sat down on the straw bed. “My mom had me right before everything was about to go down, and she was so upset about my dads death. She didn’t want anything to happen to me, and she knew that she was a big part in it all, so she put me in here with a ton of barriers and on that stopped time for me. That’s why I’m not a year older than you. Mom showed me this place a month ago, since she knew that this war was going to start.”
“That reminds me, what is happening.”
“Well, although the Darkness is gone, it’s children went into a slumber, and were awakened when one of the elemental guardians turned 18. The darkness had 7 children. Each one of them is a symbol of the seven deadly sins. The one that we ran into is lust.”
“If your mom knew that this was happening, why didn’t we?”
“There was suppose to be a meeting today. Everyone but my mom thought that they weren't suppose to come for some time. My mom couldn’t tell them. She just couldn’t. Hopefully, everything is prepared.”
“Is there anything that we can do? There has to be something.”
“I do know of something. We are going to have to find the other elemental guardians.”

Notes

Sorry this took so long, but this is the sequel to my story Knots in the Ties. I feel like this is going to be a lot better even though it's about their daughter. Hope you'll enjoy it.
