Grow Up Jack

I carry Adison onto our tour bus and laid her in her bunk, tucking her in before closing her curtain. I can't get her words out of my head. What did she mean that I'm just like mommy. I walk back out to the front lounge where everyone was now. "She still asleep?" "Yeah." I sit down and rub my temples, I couldn't focus on the show tonight due to what Adison said and that I almost lost her. I can't ever lose Adison, especially on tour. There are creeps out there that would love to get their hands on a little girl, especially one who's related to a band member. "We never seen her act out before." "I know, she's always good. That was the first time I saw her talk back." "I think I know what she's talking about though," Matt speaks up. I look up at Matt with a confused look. "She said your always working, and when your working, she can't be around you. So each day, half of that time you two are not together." "But I'm with her for the other half Jack." "She's 6 Jack, she wants to be with her dad. Her mom isn't here. Your gonna be the one person that she'll want to be with no matter what. And look what happened today, she ran off when you told her that she couldn't be with you all because of work. Its work that keeps you two apart."

"But I can't have her around during my work, its not safe and appropriate for her." "We know that Jack, but she doesn't understand that part."

"Adi, time to wake up," I speak softly to her. She slowly wakes up and lets out a yawn. She opens her eyes and looks up at me. "Morning baby girl," I kiss her head and she giggles. "Daddy." "Daddy needs to talk with you Adison." "Am I in trouble?" "No, your not." She sits up and I sit in her bunk. "I know its hard for you to understand this Adison, but my work requires to not be a part of it." "But I wanna be with you daddy." "I know you do." I hold her little hand. "But you are not old enough to be with me during my work." "But you always work." "I know I do, but I have to." "Daddy, I don't like work." "I know you don't, and I don't like being away from you. Adison, when you ran off yesterday and I couldn't find you, I got really scared." "You did?" "Yes, I was really scared. I was scared that I couldn't find you." "But you did find me." "I know, but there was that fear that I wouldn't find you." She crawls into my lap and cuddles up to me. "Please promise me that you won't run off again." "I promise daddy." "I'm sorry that I work a lot and that you can't be around, but its what we have to do." "I'm sorry daddy." "What are you sorry for Adison?" "For acting bad." She wraps her arms around and I hold her close. I kiss her head and close my eyes. "Its okay Adison, I love you." "I love you daddy."

This is going to get harder with Adison, my work is requiring me to be away from Adison, but Adison wants to be with me. I'm the only one she has, I have no idea where her mother is and how to reach her. Adison literally was just dropped off at me door and she appeared in my life. It doesn't add up right.
