Chapter 47
I don’t want to wait,
but all that has been on my mind is,
how much longer?

They got stuck at an intersection with a red light and Alex cursed. Max cried out and she tried to kick the floor under her.
"Why would you even think that I would have been with Ed?" she cried.
"Because I’m not here and he is… Because I don’t know" Alex yelled.
"Why can’t you just believe me? I haven’t been with him" she cried and the tears was really pouring down her cheeks. She kept rubbing her stomach and sometimes she let out loud cries and kicked on the floor of the car.
"On a scale from one to ten, where are you?" Alex asked.
"A six… NO… A SEVEN" she cried.
They finally got to the hospital and Max was rushed to a prepared room for her. Alex helped her get into a hospital gown and he rubbed her back, and he was surprised that she was drenched in sweat. She must be in so much pain.
"When did her water break?" a doctor asked as he entered the room.
"About half an hour ago" Alex said and bit his lip. The worried faces on the nurses and the doctor made him panic a little. Why would they be nervous?
"I didn’t expect you for at least another three weeks Mrs. Clayton" the doctor said.
"Well here I am" Max said and tried to joke, but cried out again.
"Was there a special reason why your water broke? Stress maybe?" he asked and checked her pulse.
"Yes, me and Max had a fight" Alex said and started to chew on his nails. Suddenly he realized he had caused Max to go into labor. Because he suddenly didn’t trust her. The doctor asked Max to move up her legs so he could check how much she had opened up. Then he frowned and muttered.
"You’re still a long way to go, so we will wait for another hour to see if you have opened up enough" he said and took of his gloves.
Alex called the others and told them what had happened, and Jack promised to come and be supportive of Alex. He must have heard how scared and nervous his best friend was. And about twenty minutes later they all appeared outside the door. Alex walked to them and they all stared at Max when she let out a loud cry.
"I’m freaking out" Alex said.
"Relax, it’s just a delivery" Jack said and smiled.
"Yeah, with a baby" Rian said and looked at Jack.
"How is she doing?" Zack asked.
"Pretty bad, but at the same time good I guess" Alex said.
"Go in there, be there with her" Jack said and pushed him inside again.
The doctor came back to check if Max had opened up enough and he sighed.
"Ms Clayton, it seems like you have to go through C-section" he said.
"What? Why?" Max and Alex said at the same time.
"The baby s coming out too fast and you haven’t opened up enough, it will bring complications if we wait any further" he said. Alex looked at Max.
"Do it" he said.
"What? No… I want do this the normal way" Max said.
"Max… If it means that it will bring complications… Do it. Do the C-section… I’m not losing you because I was a prick and accused you of something, causing you stress" he said and his voice almost cracked. She stared at him and she bit her lip.
"Okay…" She whispered. And with that they started to prepare her and moved her out from the room.
"What is going on?" Jack asked.
"C-section" Alex said and looked at him.
"What? Why?" Rian asked.
"I caused her to go to early in to labor, her body is not ready yet" he whispered before he hurried after them.
Max thought it was really funny to see Alex in the hospital gown, and she laughed.
"So Mr. Gaskarth… We need you to keep an conversation with your fiancé" the doctor said and Alex nodded. He sat down on a chair next to Max head.
"Hi babe" he said and stroked her hair.
"Can we get what they gave me? It feels wonderful" she said and giggled.
"Sure thing" Alex said and smiled.
"Do you know how much I love you?" Max said and smiled.
"No, tell me" he said with a chuckle.
"I would fly to the moon and back for you, fuck… I would fly to Pluto and back if I could just to show you how much I love you" she said.
"Why not Australia? Or Europe?" he asked and stroked her hair again.
"Because it’s the distance that matter, how much I love you. I would travel to the end of the universe and back if it meant that you would believe me" she said and smiled.
"So you haven’t been with De?" he whispered.
"No silly, I would never do that. Ed is hot and nice, and really good to me… But I don’t want to be with him… Not like I am with you. Because you’re my person. You’re my Gex… I don’t want to be Mrs. Cortez… I want be a Gaskarth… You said I was a Gaskarth" Max said.
"Well that’s because you are" he said and kissed her. She giggled and kissed him back, and licked him on the nose. He chuckled, and then he stopped. He took her hand when he heard the cry. He looked at the bloody little creature they wrapped inside a blanket.
"Mr. Gaskarth, may I present your daughter" a nurse said and handed her to Alex.
"Tigerlily" Alex said and wrapped his arms around her. His eyes was sparkling and he looked so damn happy.
"Tiger…lily" Max said and raise her hand. But it fell back down and her eyes closed.
"BP IS DROPPING" someone called and he heard the machines beep.
Alex was pushed out from the OR and Tigerlily was brought to the other babies. Alex stood there and had no idea what was going on. He knew what BP meant and the machines blipping. Jack and the others jolted up from their chairs when Alex came out to the waiting room.
"I have a daughter" Alex said and spaced out.
"Congratulations, what’s her name?" Jack asked.
"Tigerlily Clayton" Alex said.
"Congrats Alex" Zack said.
"I have a daughter" Alex whispered and couldn’t believe it.
"Where’s Max?" Rian asked and they all saw how his face changed.
"I might not have a wife… Max is… Gone" he whispered.
"What?!" they all gasped.
"BP is dropping they yelled and they kicked me out from the OR" Alex said and he fell down to the floor where he ended up sitting. He brought his knees to his chest.
"The last thing I yelled at her was that I didn’t trust her" Alex said and tried to breath.
"Alex breath, you don’t know if she’s gone" Rian said and crouched before her.
"I accused her of cheating on me" Alex said and hid his face.
"What?" Jack asked.
"I accused her of having Ed’s kid and she went into labor… This is all my fault… She’s gone because of me" he cried.
"Alex, stop… You don’t know that" Jack said.
"It’s all my fault" Alex said and tried to push Jack away. But Jack wrapped his arms around him and wouldn’t let him go.
"It’s not your fault… This s not your fault" Jack said and he looked at Rian and Zack. Never had they seen Alex like this before. So broken. So hurt.

that was absolutely amazing. OMG I LOVED IT. it was a rollercoaster of emotions for me. wish there was a sequel. but it ended beautifully.
