Serious Talk

She sat on the couch with one test in her hand, and the phone in the other. She was still waiting for Alex to call her since she had texted him that they really needed to. But even an hour later he still hadn’t called or texted back. What was he doing?
"What do you wanna talk about?" he said behind her and Max let out a shriek. She jolted up from the couch and in the turn around she dropped the test and it flew across the room and landed by Alex feet. He looked at her before he crouched down and picked the test up. And he just stared at it while he slowly got up.
"You’re… pregnant?" he asked and looked at her. She swallowed and nodded, and suddenly felt the urge to run away.
"Are you sure? I mean.. it’s just one test" he asked and looked at the it again. Max nodded.
"There are two more in the bathroom" she said and pointed towards the bathroom door. Alex walked over and came out with the other tests as well. Looking at them.
"Well this was a surprise" he said and nodded.
"Yeah" she whispered.
"But there’s nothing to talk about really… Didn’t we say we wanted kids?" he said and looked at her. She stared at him for a second.
"In the future, yes. But now?" she asked.
"Now..? Then..? Does it really matter?" he asked her. She just stared at him and he smiled, and took a few steps towards her.
"What? Why would it matter? It’s not like we can’t afford it, and we have plenty of space in our house for a kid" he said and gestured towards the spacious area.
"So you’re… okay with it?" she asked.
"Let’s call a midwife and see the little fella" he said and smiled.

Max was two months pregnant and from what the midwife could tell it looked like everything was okay.
"Two months… So another seven… Fuck, I might be in Asia when you’re due" Alex said and looked all panicky.
"It’s okay Alex, you have your job" Max said.
"Fuck no, you have to go through the pregnancy alone… At least I can be with you when it’s time to deliver" he said.
"And what can you do? Call Matt and beg him to cancel a tour?" Max said and rolled her eyes. Alex picked up his phone and smiled, and called Matt.
"Hey Matt, I need a favor" he said.
"Alex" Max gasped.
"I need you to cancel some of the tour dates in Asia before we go out with the tour" he said and nodded. Max just stared at him. Was he really asking for that? Alex smiled.
"Matt please don’t tell anyone, especially the guys, but… Max’s pregnant, and I want to be here for the due date" he said. Matt said something and Alex nodded, then he smiled again.
"Thank you Matt, I really appreciate it" Alex said and hung up.
"You did not call Matt to cancel a tour" Max said and stared at him.
"We are canceling the asia tour, or post-poning it until next year" he said and kissed her. She just stared at him and then she shook her head.
"So we are either getting a Lily or a… Noah" Alex said.
"Noah?" Max asked.
"Yeah, I like that name" he said and smiled.
"How come you’re here by the way?" she asked as they walked out tot he car again.
"We have a two day break so I thought I come and then when I was at the airport I saw your text and yeah" he shrugged.

Alex looked at the ceiling while slowly stroking up and down on Max arm. She was sleeping on his chest ad he was thinking. Yes he wanted to become a father one day. But was he ready now? Well yeah, he probably was. It was just scary to think about it. He wouldn’t be there for Max now during her pregnancy because of touring, and it was just pure luck he was now able to be there when she would go into labor. If she did go into labor. Because there was still a chance that she could wake up one day and find blood between her thighs. Or walk outside and feel a pain in her stomach and feel the blood flow down her legs. What if that happened while he was on tour? What if they got a kid that became so disappointed in him because he would be out touring all the time? What if it was a daughter, and she got a stalker like Max? And almost raped? And their fans hated her and… suddenly it became really hard to breath. Alex tried to calm himself down but it didn’t work. Max woke up and looked around and she looked really scared when she saw that lex got a panic attack.
"Oh god Alex… Breathe, just breathe" she said and sat up. Alex closed his eyes but it was still hard to breath, and he went into hyperventilation.
"oh God" Max cried and had no idea what to do. She had never seen Alex like this. Never.
"Alex, you have to breathe" she cried, but it didn’t help. Hearing that she was scared made him even more panicked and stressed.
"Fuck this" she said and placed her lips on his. She kissed him and stroked his chest. She parted his lips with her own and breathed in to his mouth. Giving him carbon dioxide that she knew could help when people hyperventilated. And it did. Slowly Alex calmed down, and within a few minutes he breathed normally.
"I knew this wasn’t our thing to do" she sobbed and rubbed her eyes.
"No, no… It’s not that your pregnant" Alex said.
"Then what is it?" Max snapped and looked at him. She looked scared and hurt.
"I’m scared… that… I will be a disappointment" he whispered.
"What?" she said and looked at him.
"I’m scared that I will get a daughter that will almost get raped because of a stalker, or feel the pressure if my fans give her hate… What if she get a stupid, rude boyfriend that inly uses her for sex and… If I don’t see that she’s hurt and maybe hurting herself… I’m scared I will get a son that never will be able to be proud of his dad when there’s parent day at school, or being able to teach him how to play football or… anything" he said and let out a sob. Max was surprised that Alex cried. He was rally scared.
"What if I’m not there for them when they need me?" he cried.
"Alex… your daughter will have people protecting her. She will have you as a overprotecting father that won’t let her date, she will have Jack talking to her about sex and teaching her about pricks and dicks, and then I mean dicks as in assholes to boys and not dicks as dicks, she will have Zack teaching her how to be strong and being able to protect herself, and have Rian protecting her as well. God, I might even have Ed escort her everywhere… and if you get a son. Of course you will be able to teach him how to play football, and you will be able to go to parent day and tell them about your cool life as a rockstar… Alex think about it, I bet Jack would do anything to go and take care of that kid. Teach him everything. You will be able to teach him how to play guitar and you will see if your kid is hurt. That is one thing about being a parent. They always know when something is wrong. Because your kid is a part of you, you know when something is wrong" Max said and smiled. Alex looked at her and smiled a little. She laid down on his chest again and yawned.
"And do you really think we’ll just have one kid? We’re going to have tons of Gaskarth running around and they will all protect each other" Max said.
"I’ll teach them all how to play guitar" Alex said and took a deep breath.
"And if something do happen… Well then you’re going to be there for them. You’re going to be everything you can for him or for her" Max said and kissed him softly.
"Why are you so perfect?" Alex said and wrapped his arms around her.
"I’m a woman, I have boobs and a vagina… I’m meant to be perfect" she teased and he chuckled.
"I love you" he whispered.
"And I love you" she whispered back and kissed him one last time.
