Damned If I Do Ya

Thanks You!

I don't know what it is, but lately Jack has been super happy. Like, more than usual.

Not that I'm complaining, it was nice to see him this way. I always worried he was hiding emotions or something, even though his medication should help keep him balanced. Once in awhile he has bad days, it's kinda like a emotional man period, minus the fits of anger he once had.

I was setting up things for the stage, when I felt arms wrap around me.

“Hey, baby.” Jack's voice mumbled in my ear before kissing right below it.
“Jack, Matt's gonna yell at you.” I chuckled, spinning around and hugging him back. “What's up?”
“I have great news!”
“Yeah?”
“We're getting a hotel in a couple of days.” He smiled, and I returned it.
“Seriously? Fucking finally.” I whined.
“Oh, is someone hoping for something?” He teased, pulling me closer.
“For lack of a better word, I'm horny as fuck.” I admitted, and Jack shuddered.
“I love it when you talk like that.”
“Well I-” I started, but we both were surprised to hear yelling.

“Jack! Quit distracting your girlfriend from working!” Matt yelled, and Jack let go with a pout.
“She was mine first!” Jack complained, and I laughed.
“Calm you tits Mickey, I'm almost done.” I promised.
“Whatever, I also got an email from Hopeless. They have a job for you too.”
“What do they need now?”
“Just some financial crap I don't understand.” He said before walking away. I went back to work.
“I am so sick of numbers!” I complained, setting up some more chords. “Seriously, how they make sense to me I don't understand.”
“I can barely multiply babe, you're lucky.”
“No, you're lucky. Mr. Rockstar.” I said, and got up. “Alright, I'm done. Wanna keep me company while I get in touch with Hopeless and fix all their money issues?”
“Sure.”

We both walked off to the green room together. Zack was working out in the corner, Rian and Alex were nowhere to be found, and Jeff was there too. I got my laptop out, and plopped on the couch. Jack sat next to me, and I leaned my back against him and I fiddled around, looking through the email Matt was talking about. I opened another window, and nudged Jack.

“Hey, Jack.”
“Hmm?”
“We should apartment hunt.”
“Right now?” He asked, “Don't you have work to do?”
“I'm almost done. We never have time, so I just figured...” I trailed off, but Jack reached over and started typing in 'apartments in Baltimore' into google.
“We can do it now.” He said. “So, what are we looking for?”
“Nothing shitty. That's for sure.” I chuckled. “Can we try for one that allows animals?”
“No matter how many times you ask, we don't have time for a dog.”
“Lex has one!” I whined, and Jack only chuckled at me.
“Yeah, and you spoil Baz more than he does.”

We both looked around on different sites, bookmarking things that looked good. Once in awhile I would switch back to the bills and finances I was supposed to be taking care of.

In case you were wondering, my dad and I never really got back in touch. According to Jack he'll ask him about me sometimes, but I have yet to speak to the man myself. It bugged me sometimes, but I learned to independent awhile ago, and I had Jack. I was happy with the choice I made three years ago. The silver ring around my finger was something that was always a sort of beacon of hope. Jack and I never really talk about marriage yet. It's still a bit early, but moving in together was a step in the right direction. Hayley and I had an apartment together, but it was wasted. We were never home, and when we were, it was rare for it to be at the same time. I still saw her once in awhile, we would meet up if our bands were in the same city.

When Jack had to go and do sound check. With a kiss goodbye, and a wave he was off. I went back to my laptop, happy with what we found. We got a total of five places book marked, and ready to be checked out in a more throughout way. I was just finishing up with the Hopeless junk when Matt walked in.

“Em,” He's the only one allowed to call me that. Since I got to call him Mickey without getting a glare. “Show time.”
“What am I in charge of today?”
“I was hoping you'd do meet and greets.”
“Miiiiickey.” I drawled, annoyed. I hated doing meet and greets. Most of the fanbase was chill with me, but there was always a few that hated my guts. I had hate pages for Christ's sake.
“Please? I can not deal with girls screaming in my ear and being bratty. Not today.”
“Who shit in you coffee?” I asked, but got no response. “Fine.”
“I owe you.”
“Buy me whiskey and we're even.”
“You've been around guys too long.”
“Shut it before I change my mind.” I said, getting up and taking hi clipboard.

I waited for the doors to open, revealing the fifty girls who managed to get in this. With a deep breath, I waited for them to line up and tell me their names. Most of them were pretty compliant, which made me happy. I heard a few whispers of 'where the hell is Matt? I don't like this chick' but I didn't let it get to me. Once I finally got everyone check, I whistled for their attention.

“Okay guys, we're going to meet the guys now. You can have anything signed, but please try to limit to one thing and no ridiculous body areas. Photo's are allowed, you can give them gifts, but please don't poison my boys. They sign my paycheck.” I joked, getting a few laughs. “Questions?”
“Where's Matt?” Every fucking...
“He's feeling ill. Too many shots of Jaeger.” I shrugged, “Anything else?”

I got no responses so I led them off. I felt someone tap my shoulder and looked over to find a girl who could barely be fourteen. She had purple streaked into her light brown hair, an All Time Low tee, and plain black skinny jeans.

“Hi...this is my first time at a concert and meeting any band members. Does it get crazy?” She asked sounding nervous. I smiled reassuringly.
“Don't worry, meet and greets are pretty chill and fun. The guys are super nice too, alright? They love all their fans.” I explained. “And as for the concert, if you ever feel overwhelm just ask someone around you to get out. You get to crowd surf to the front and a security guard will take you out.”
“Really?”
“Yeah, everyone is family here for these few hours.” I opened the door, finding the guys ready to go. “Just have fun, alright? What's your name?”
“Umm...Katelynn.”
“Who do you like the most?”
“Z-zack...” She mumbled and I chuckled, before grabbing her hand.
“Hey, muscles!” I yelled, tugging the girl with me before the girls got into lines. Zack looked at me, confused until I spoke up. “This is Katelynn, I want you to make her life. Got it?”
“Ember, how do you always find a stray fan to take care of?” He asked rolling his eyes, Katelynn was shifting nervously next to me. Zack smiled at her. “Don't be scared, I swear she doesn't bite. Usually.”
“Hey!”

I watched over the meet and greet, feeling glad no one had the balls to say anything to my face. It's happened once or twice. I was spacing off as people were directed to leave so when a small body attacked mine I yelped before I caught site of purple and brown hair.

“Katelynn?” I asked, looking down. She looked at me, and smiled hugely.
“Thank you thank you thank you!” She cheered. “I always knew you were awesome. Thanks for getting me to Zack first.”
“Anytime.” I smiled, hugging her back. “Now get going, and get a great spot in the crowd. Okay?”
“I will! Thank you again!” And off she went.

Yeah, the perks of this job definitely outweigh the haters.
