Alex

I hated the see the two bicker over one another. All of this was my fault. If I hadn't decided that it was time for me to man up and move on, I would have never kissed May and Jack would have never walked in and saw me. They probably didn't want me to be around anymore. I mean, look at all the chaos I've caused ever since I've stepped into their lives.

I sat at the side of the pathway playing with my guitar, curious if anyone was going to show up today and even listen to me play. Literally all I was playing were songs that were either about heartbreak, losing someone, or just sadness in general.

I didn't know what Jack and May were talking about and I had no idea where they went. All I know is that they were there talking to each other one minute and the next they were gone. I had watched them leave with a sad smile because I was happy that they were finally making up. Maybe if I just stepped out of the picture, the two of them would be a lot happier than they are now.

"Sir, are you alright?" Someone asked and I looked up to see a girl with long brown hair waving her hand in front of my face.

I blinked for a second before looking up at her and saying, "Y-yeah, I'm just perfectly fine."

"Are you sure? You just stopped mid-song and you look like you're about to cry. Correct me if I'm wrong, but that doesn't seem like someone who is perfectly fine," she said as concern crossed over in her green eyes.

"It's a long story..." I just sighed and shook my head before putting my guitar in its case and standing up and dusting myself off.

"Well I'm sure I could find the time. I'm sure my fiance wouldn't mind either... Wherever he went..." She said glancing around the park when her eyes finally fell upon a guy with short brown hair and a smile lit across her lips.

"Rian! Come over here for a minute," she called out and he walked over to us.

"Who is this, Cass?" he asked, wrapping an arm around her waist and a small frown fell upon my lips as I began to think about Jack being back and the feelings that I was beginning to feel for May.

"I'm Alex," I said, holding out my hand and he shook it before saying, "I'm Rian and this girl here is my fiance, Cassadee."

"You look familiar," I said looking at her once again and she smiled.

"I used to have a band back in high school and I was on television a while back on a show," she said and I nodded my head. I couldn't think of where I had seen her before though.

"Now, what was going on a few minutes ago with you?" She asked, raising an eyebrow at me. She still had that small look of worry in her eyes and I sighed.

"I've just been having some relationship issues of my own. Hopefully I'll get over them soon enough, but I don't know. It's just really been a lot," I said shrugging and she nodded her head.

"Well, I wish you the best of luck. I don't know where I'd be without Rian," she said smiling.

"You two make a cute couple," I said and they both smiled at me.

"Would you like to join us for coffee? Maybe let us know a little bit more about yourself? You seem pretty interesting," Rian said and I nodded my head before picking up the cup and guitar case.

Guess there are some nice people out there.

I walked home that evening with my guitar case slung over my shoulder and a cup of Starbucks in my hand. I had spent most of the afternoon talking with Cassadee and Rian and I learned that they were pretty nice people. They seemed like people that I would be hanging out with in the near future, but I just didn't know.

I walked up the path leading to my front porch and I saw a figure sitting there on the porch swing that was hanging from the roof. It was creaking as they swung on it.

"Who's there?" I asked and they stood up before crossing their arms in front of their chest. I knew it wasn't May because the figure was too tall.

"It's me, Lex," Jack's voice rang out and I walked up on the porch slowly and sat the guitar against the house before I felt his arms wrap tightly around my waist as he pulled me into a hug.
I held him tightly against me, taking in his scent. I had missed that smell so much that it almost killed me, but I knew that he was back now. I just didn't know if it was for good...

"I missed you, Jacky," my voice cracked as I felt tears fill my eyes.

"I know, love," he whispered kissing my hair softly.

"I'm sorry. I messed up. I didn't mean to kiss May. It was just... I don't know..." I just sighed and he grabbed my chin and made me look up at his eyes. I couldn't really see them because it was dark, but I knew that the look he was giving me was forgiveness.

"Don't worry about it right now, Alex. Well come to that later. Right now, it's just me and you," he whispered softly and I felt his lips press against mine and my heart melted instantly.
