My eyes stared down at the words scrawled across my coffee table in purple crayon.

I couldn't sleep. I was thinking too much. -Jackie xo

Somehow I had managed to miss the fact that my bed was empty this morning. Yes, his scent still clung to the covers, but I didn't notice that until I came across the message and realized that he came back to my house after our date.

My eyes darted across the message over and over, wondering what time he crawled out of my bed and just made his way out of my house without much of a word. I was beginning to worry about him, given the fact that last night his brother had caught us together and he told me for a fact that his family didn't know how he found guys more attractive than girls.

I picked my phone and scrolled over Jack's contact before clicking on it and dialing his phone. I held the phone up to my ear and listened to it ring, hoping that he would pick up and I'd hear his cheery voice. My pleas were unanswered when I had gotten the prerecorded voice of his voicemail.

"I'm sorry I'm not here right now. Leave your name and maybe your number and I'll try to get back to you as soon as I've got the chance," his voice rang out and I sighed and waited for the small beep that meant that I could start my message.

"Hey, Jack. I don't know where you're at right now or if you're alright, but I'm worried about you. I'd like to see you again, if you want. Call me back when you get this message, please. Bye," I muttered my goodbye into the phone before hanging up and setting the phone down on the coffee table.

I sat down on the couch, feeling the springs fight against me, but I didn't care. Right now, Jack was on my mind and I was wondering why he hadn't picked up. Usually he answered my calls, but right now, I guess he didn't have his phone on him.

I was trying my best not to worry, but my attempts were really working. Maybe he just wanted some time away from me...

Three days. Three days had passed since I had last heard from Jack. I called him three times a day hoping that he would answer, but now his phone just sends me straight to voicemail as if it wasn't even turned on anymore.

I had to admit, I was starting to miss him a lot. Things weren't the same without him around to talk to me and I was starting to feel alone once again. I was starting to spend longer at the park, hoping to make up for my sudden sadness and loss of money. Preforming was taking my mind off of my worries, but still there was a part of me that was hoping that the dark haired boy would be standing at the back of the crowd, his eyes staring at me, and a smirk on his lips.

I'd glance up every now and then, but every single time, he was never there. It was like his place was empty and I didn't like that feeling at all.

My fingers finished playing the chords to the song, A Daydream Away. The crowd I had gathered had clapped, dropped money into the new cup that I had bought, and most of them walked away because I was taking a small break to prepare myself for the next song.

I took a drink out of a bottle of water I had sitting next to me when a woman in a pea coat approached me. Her hair was as dark as night and her eyes were the color of chocolate... Almost exactly like Jack's.

"Yes?" I asked, glancing up at her.

"A-are you Alex?" She asked me, a look of worry running through her eyes.

"Yes... Who are you, if I may ask?" I said looking up at her eyes. I swear, she looks like a female version of Jack. It was so odd.

"May Barakat. Jack's older sister," she said holding out her hand and I shook it. Well that explains why she looks so much like the man I miss so dearly.

"Oh, you're May. Jack has told me a little bit about you," I said with a small smile spreading across my lips and she smiled back, but her smile quickly fell apart and her expression became more serious.

"About him, I was wondering, have you heard from Jack? I know you went out with him the other night and we haven't seen from him since. Some of his clothes are missing from his room and my family is beginning to worry about him," she sighed softly and I saw tears well up in her brown eyes.

"N-no. I thought he didn't want anything to do with me anymore and that he was trying to avoid me..." I trailed off and she stared at me.

"Did Jack tell you how my family wasn't accepting to homosexuality?" She asked me softly and I nodded my head, "Well what he said was true. They're not. When Leeyh came home the other night and told Mom and Dad that he had saw you out with him, they freaked out. They began fighting, Dad got drunk, and..." she trailed off, not finishing her sentence. Her eyes showed that she was having an entire war.

I was wondering what she was going to say after that, but I knew better than question it. I didn't know much about Jack's home life and I wasn't about to ask his sister about it. Whatever was on her mind was her business and I would just probably have to find out later from Jack... If I ever heard from him again.

"Has he ever done this before?" I finally asked and her eyes snapped back to me.

"Once, the first year after he graduated high school. He got into a fight with our parents and was gone for almost a month a half. Turns out that he only came back because he had run out of money and had ended up getting in trouble in Miami," she said softly.

"So we don't have any idea when he's coming back?" I asked, my voice cracking.

"No, we just have to wait. I know Jack. When he wants to come back, he will..."
