So Wrong, It's Right

Oh My God I'm Such A Terrible Mess

Ever since that night, Jack and I have avoided each other like the plague. I hung out with Hayley and Dalton more, finally telling them what really went down with me around the second day of my depressed slump. Surprisingly, they were cool about it, and I couldn't have been more thankful for. I knew Morgan was trying to get her hands on Jack, and it didn't seem like he was acting on her intentions.

I was a little happy about that, but it didn't change the fact that he didn't correct me when I said he didn't love me.

Right now, I was in the hall when I heard my name called. I looked over to fine Cass and the guys, minus the one I didn't want to see. I walked over, wondering what they wanted. I felt a little bad, along with ignoring Jack, I have neglected them too.

“Hey guys.” I mumbled, and they all exchanged glances until Rian spoke up.
“We've been talking...about you and Jack.” He started. “And I really think you two need to get back together. Neither of you are happy, and you're basically destroying yourselves over this. I mean, when Jack and Morgan broke up, she left like it was nothing. Jack was sad, but not like this”
“Wait, who told you about us?” I asked, and Alex rose his hand.
“I did, I'm seriously worried about you guys.”
“Well, I don't know what you're expecting, but we can't get back togther. Jack lied, he ever loved me.”
“Do you really believe that?” Zack asked, and I nodded.
“Ember, hunny. Think about all the things Jack did for you, the way he reacted. If he didn't care about you, this would have ended a long time ago with no one really being bitter.” Cass tried to convince me. I just sighed, feeling defeated.
“Guys, this is nice of you. Really, but I'm sick of all the drama that surrounds me and...Jack. I don't think anything will fix this.”
“Actually, they're right.” I turned to see Dalton and Hayley, who smiled.
“We spoke a little with them too, after you told us the whole story. The only real way to fix this is fr one of you to make the first move and say sorry and just tell the other they still love them.”
“And way do I have to be the one?” I asked, my stubborness coming out.
“Because Jack will barely even talk to us anymore. He's more shut out then you are.” Alex said. “We'll let you think about it, but I'll be at my car. We'll get you two in the same area, and you guys can talk this out.”

Alex, Zack, Rian, and Cass all left. I looked a Dalton and Hayley. These two were really the only friends I actually made on my own. They were the best thing I could had have this week.

“Do you guys really think I should do this?” I asked. I trusted Jack's friends, but these two were my friends.
“Most definitely.” Dalton answered.
“I want my bubbly Ember back, you need that boy.” Hayley said.
“I love you guys.” I hugged them both, and we walked out of school.

Everyone was right...I needed Jack. I still loved him, and I couldn't have him if I let all this get in the way. I looked around for Alex and once I found him, I ran to him and gave him a hug.

“I'm sorry.” I said into his shoulder. “And you're all right. I'll talk to him.
“Good, I'll text Rian and we can head over to yur place first.”
“Why my place?”
“To get you ready of course. The best part of getting back with someone is the make up sex.” I punched his arm.
“Will you ever change?” I laughed.

We went by my house, and thankfully (yet strangely) Jack wasn't there. We figured Rian was dragging him around, having already gotten him to hang out or something. It too about an hour to get me ready, and I was feeling more and more happy at the thought of being able to be with Jack again. Alex and I went t his place, and waited for a call from Rian getting back to us.

Little did we know how wrong this night would end up going.

It started with a call from Rian.

“Dude, are you sure? How long have you been trying? Okay okay, we'll figure something out.” Alex talked into the phone before hanging out.
“What's going on?”
“Rian can't get a hold of Jack...he's missing.”
“Oh not again.” I groaned getting up. “Coffee shop?”
“Might as well start there.” Alex agreed, grabbing his keys.

We checked the coffee shop, no luck. We went to all the parks, still nothing. I texted my dad and even Joyce to tell me when Jack got home but he never did show up there either. I was starting to freak out, we never even saw his car anywhere. This city wasn't that big.

We had everyone on watch now. Alex and I had to go back to his house cause I was a complete wreck. I was pacing in his living, getting worried. It was late, like really late. I almost cried of happiness when Alex's phone rang.

“Hello?” He answered, “What?!”

Well that wasn't good.

“Okay, just calm down, and tell me what's going on. How bad is he?...Oh shit...no...Fuck. Morgan?”

My heart dropped, and Alex kept speaking.

“Call the cops, call anyone. We're on our way.” He hung up.
“W-what's going on?”
“That idiot went to some party with Morgan. He's drunk and just got in his car. We need to go.”

We both took off to where Alex was told this party was. We were maybe half-way there when we heard sirens. We followed them, and sure enough we found Jack's car crashed into a lamp post. I didn't even wait for Alex to stop the car before I was running out.

“Ember wait!” I gnored Alex's call. Some police officer tried to hold me back, but I fought back.
“Miss stay back.”
“He's my boyfriend!” I yelled and he let me go. They were taken Jack out of the car, putting him on a stretcher. “Is he alive?”
“Yes, he's in critical condition though.” The medic told me.
“Can..can I ride with him? Please?” He simply nodded. I looked at Alex for a second, before getting into the ambulance.

I was sitting in the waiting room when Joyce and dad ran in. They asked me what happened, if I was part of it, and if I was okay. I answered them as best as I could.

Jack didn't come home that night. He didn't even wake up.

I spent as much time as I could in the hospital. I skipped school for it, and surprisingly, my dad let me. I t had been three days of Jack being out. The doctors told me he was recovering and should wake up soon. That he wouldn't be able to leave for a few weeks, but I had to just make sure nothing went wrong.

Jack had broke ribs, a broken arm, some internal bleeding, concussions...but nothing that would leave him permanently damage. When the doctor had told us about it, all I could think was how this might have all been my fault. I was obligated to stay here.

I heard the door open, I didn't look up expecting it to be dad Joyce, or maybe even Alex until a high voice gasped and spoke.

“Oh, my poor Jacky!” My head snapped up to see Morgan.
“What the hell are you doing here?” I asked, standing up.
“I'm here to see my Jacky, who are you?”
“That's not important, you need to leave.” I demanded, she frowned at me.
“Why?”
“Cause you have no right to be here!” I yelled.
“How dare you....I happen to lo-”
“Don't you even say you love him.” I barked out. “Cause obviously you don't.”
“And what proof do you have of that?”

I don't know what came over me, but seeing her here. All done up, like Jack would be awake to see her. It has been three days and it's the first time she's even been here. She was the one who took him to that party, she let him drink so much, and she didn't have the strength to stop him. So, naturally, I blew up.

“Are you fucking kidding me? If you really loved Jack you would have known he would have done something stupid the moment he got a drink in his hands. He was upset, he had been all week. When people are depressed, they do stupid shit. Like drink their sense away. You probably only took him there in hopes of getting lucky. Well, congrats slut, you're fucking possessive issues go him in the hospital! You haven't even been here! I haven't left this God damn room since he got here besides to eat, barely, and shower. I haven't been home, I haven't gone to school. I'm too busy sitting here crying over that fact thathe almost died.”

Morgan stared at me, shocked. She coughed awkwardly and spoke.

“You must be the girl he was seeing.”
“I am.”
“You know you're the one who made him so upset right?”
“I have been regretting it since the day we walked away from each other.” I admitted, quietly. Morgan didn't say anything for a really long time.

“You clearly love him....” She said slowly.
“I do.” I nodded.
“More than I ever could. You're right...If I really cared, I would have been here.” I was surprised, my mouth almost falling open. “There's no way I could beat you... I think... I'll just leave.”

She turned to walk out, and before shutting the door she looked at me.

“Jack's lucky to have you...don't let him go. Or I will take him back.”

With that, she left. I stared at the closed door before I heard a creak from the bed. Looking back, I found Jack sitting up. I rushed over to him.

“Jack? Oh my God, you're awake?” I said, feeling incredibly relieved. “Don't move too much...you're in the hospital and-”
“Shh, Ember. I know.” He croaked out, before smiling slightly. “I heard what you said...”
“Oh...” I blushed deeply, and looked away. Jack's hand moved to cover mine and I look back him. He was still smiling as wide as he could.

“I love you too.”

Notes
