So Wrong, It's Right

Change Sucks

After the wonderful moment of meeting my new brother. I had ditched the party half-way through, going to the hotel room to sulk. I didn't like this new arrangement. I didn't like that dad found a new woman so easily. I didn't like having to move away from my neighborhood, the place I grew up in, the place where my friends are.

More importantly, I didn't like this other new surprise family member of mine already.

Had it been any other situation, I'm sure Jack and I could have been friends. However, the fact that my dad didn't even bother to mention the kid and only introduced me to him literally the night before I moved in just added to my stress over this whole situation. Plus, from the looks of it, Jack didn't like it either. I thought, maybe if I was nice first, it would be a little less painless. Usually, that wasn't my style, I just loved to raise hell.

I suggested Jack helping me with my room, the kid look like he had good taste. The look on his face? Like a crystal clear 'hell no.' and there went my resolve to be nice. I was used to that kind of thing anyway too. He wanted to play that game? Fine. I wasn't going to hide my distaste for this either then.

The next day, dad drove us to the new house. When we pulled up, I frowned. The house was way too big for just some woman and her son. Guess it was a good thing we were moving in.

“Em, stop frowning like that.” My dad sighed, and I turned my attention to him.
“Don't call me that.” I muttered, and hopped out to retrieve my bags. My dad an I didn't get along as well as we used to.
“I'm gonna go tell Joyce we're here.” He said.
“Whatever.” I huffed, opening the back up.

As I turned away from the car, a backpack attached to me, and a suitcase in my hand, I saw my dad greet his new wife with a smile and a kiss. She looked towards the house for a moment, probably calling her precious son, and right on cue, he appeared too. I started walking up in time to see him let out a sigh, and mutter something before he walked out of the house meeting me half-way.

“My mom wants me to help you carry your stuff and show your room.”
“Great,” I smirked, and shoved my suitcase in his arms with some force. “Lead the way. Jack.”
“My pleasure.” He bit out. “Ember.”

He lead me to the room and dropped my suitcase none to gently on the ground.

“Anything else you have?”
“No, I packed two things full of junk because I'm only spending the week here.” I answered sarcastically. Jack frowned at me.
“Well, aren't we an mouthy elf.”
“What did you just call me?” I snapped.
“An elf.” He repeated, now knowing he was under my skin. “Problem.”
“Yeah there's a problem you big-nosed-”
“Kids? Everything alright?” My new mommy dearest called.
“Yeah mom.” Jack yelled down to her before looking at me.
“Let's get this over with.”
“Fine, I have friends coming over later. Just stay out of the way then they're here.”
“Whatever, bro.” I sneered, once again following him as we made our way back to the car.

Did I mention how much I dislike everything?
