I'm Just a Moment

Part 1/?

“Alright, everyone. You’re listening to WNST radio, that's Will Not Stop Talking sports radio...” my radio said, but Hayley interrupted.

“Okay! We know who you are, now get to the contest!!!!” she said angrily.

“Jesus, Hayley, calm down!!” I told her, slapping her in the stomach.

“Alright, my listeners are eagerly awaiting details about today’s contest. Yeah, folks one lucky person and a guest of their choosing will get to meet the band All Time Low, personal friends of mine...” Hayley interrupted again.

“Relax, you met Zack a couple times and talked to Jack on the phone. Big deal.” she smirked.

“Shut up!!” I snapped at her.

“Okay everyone. All you have to do to win is call our number when you hear this tone...” he paused and we heard a couple guitar notes I recognized to be from the beginning of Stella. “And we will ask a lucky caller to answer a trivia question correctly and you will get to meet the band and hang with them and party with them and have dinner with them...” at this, Hayley let out an impossibly high screech.

“Hush, child!” I yelled and she pouted.

“Alright everyone. When you hear this tone...” he paused and we heard the guitar riff again, “Call us and we’ll ask you a question and you might get to meet All Time Low!” the radio said. “Here’s the tone...” he said dramatically and we heard the guitar one more time. “Now call!” he said and Hayley and I each pressed the talk button on my phone, her phone, my house phone, and my parents’ phones.

“Hey, you’re on WNST radio and you’ve won our contest!” we heard through my phone.

“Let me talk!” Hayley whispered.

“Nope, my phone, my call!” I grinned wickedly, grabbing the phone.

“Yeah, hey, my name’s Dawn.” I told them.

“Well, Dawn, you have won our contest! But first, you must answer one question. Are you ready?” the radio guy asked. It was weird because I could hear him on the radio and in my phone too.

“Yep.” I replied.

“Okay. Here it is. Name one of the running backs in the Ravens’ first roster in Baltimore in the year 1996.” he said.

“Shit. I don’t know!” I whispered to Hayley.

“Well neither do I!” she replied back. “Yo! Mr. Bryan! Name a running back from the Ravens in 1996.” Hayley yelled downstairs.

“Uh...Randy Baldwin?” my dad replied.

“Randy Baldwin.” Hayley repeated.

“Randy Baldwin.” I said into the phone.

“And that is correct! Congrats, you’ve won an afternoon with All Time Low! And who will be your guest?” he asked.

“My best friend Hayley.” I replied.

“Alright. All you have to do is make your way to our station in Towson tomorrow at three and the boys will meet you there.” he told us and Hayley jumped up and down.

“Great! We’ll be there!” I said and hung up. I looked at her and we jumped into each other’s arms.

“Oh my God!!!” she squealed.

“I know!!!” I squealed back.

“You were so cool! I didn’t think I’d be able to hold myself together!” she laughed.

“Well then it’s a good thing I did the talking.” I replied.

“Holy shit! What are we gonna wear!” she gasped.

“Don’t know.” I replied.
“Ugh, we’re going to my house.” she told me.

“Why?” I asked.

“So we can pick outfits, silly!” she cried.

She grabbed my arm and skipped out to the car, speeding to her house.

“Hey mom!” she smiled.

“Hey, Mrs. T.” I said as Hayley’s mom waved at us.

We went down the hall to Hayley’s large bedroom and opened up her closet.

“Here, this is for you.” she said, throwing me an outfit.

“Wow, way to put thought into it.” I said sarcastically.

“Shhh, just trust me on this.” she said, searching the closet.

“Ah yes! This is it.” she said, pulling out an outfit.

“Nice.” I commented.

“You think?” she asked.

“Yep.” I replied.

--

We were dressed to go. Hayley had done her hair in simple waves and had curled a couple strands of my hair. She’d done both her makeup and mine.

“Ready?” she asked.

“Yep.” I replied.

“Great.” she grabbed her keys and her phone and her purse and we headed out.

“Bye mom!” she called.

“Bye!” her mom replied.

We got in the car.

“You remember where it is, right?” I asked.

“Of course.” she replied. She’d met Zack at the station once before.

We finally pulled up to the house where the station was.

“Are you sure this is it?” I asked.

“Of course!” she replied. We linked arms and walked in. The boys were lounging on the black leather furniture, but they stood up when we walked in.

“Hey! I remember you!” Zack said, going to Hayley and hugging her like they were old friends. She squeezed him back.

“What’s my name?” she challenged,

“Um, hmmm....don’t tell me...Hayley!” Zack said, his features lighting up.

“Right.” she smiled.

“Wait, you got to meet a hot girl, but you didn’t invite me?” Alex asked.

“The hot girl has a name, and that would be Hayley.” Hayley said pointedly.

“Oh, hi Hayley! Hey, you have the same name as...” Alex started, but Hayley put her hand up.

“Hayley Williams in Paramore, I know.” she said.

“Okay, so what’s the plan?” I asked.

“Well, we thought we’d take you girls out to eat, then back to Alex’s to hang out a bit.” Rian said.

“Sounds good!” I smiled.

“So, we’ll just follow you there?” Hayley asked.

“Um, we were thinking you girls could ride with us.” Jack said.

“How would that work? You’d have to drive us back here to get my car and Towson at night...” Hayley trailed off.

“She’s right.” Zack nodded.

“Alright then, here’s my address for later, and here’s the place we’re going to eat at.” Alex said, holding out his phone. Hayley copied the address into her phone.

“Cool, so we’ll meet you there.” I nodded and we parted ways.
