Oh Life
Twenty-five.
Jack POV:
Emily and I left soon after Alex and Ashley had left the party. It wasn't that fun and I wanted some alone time with Emily to have a proper conversation. On our way back to the bus, I started speaking.
"Alex and Ashley are probably having the time of their lives right now." I chuckled. "Yeah, probably." Emily looked up at me, chuckling as well. "I kinda owed them for their help with your birthday surprise this summer." A small smile lit up her face. "That was really sweet. Nobody has ever done something like that for me." I stroke her soft, blonde hair. "You deserved it." I whispered in the darkness. We walked further in silence and when the tourbus came in sight, she took my hand and walked the other way. Confused, I followed her and we stopped in front of a small bench under a tree. It was just out of sight, nobody could hear or see us here. She let go of my hand and sat down in the middle of the bench. I sat down next to her, waiting for her to say something.
"Jack.." She started, locking her eyes with mine. "You know you hurt me. I already told you that so I am not going to lecture you again about it." I stayed quiet, not wanting to interrupt her or anything. "You made a mistake. But.. Everyone makes mistakes. And I.. I want to forgive you, Jack. I can't forget, but I can forgive." She looked down at her hands and a long silence followed. I sighed and took her hands in mine, causing her to look up. "I really appreciate that, Emily. I know that what I did was wrong and it wasn't just a mistake I've made.. It was the biggest mistake in my life. I'm just happy that we can at least be friends again. Thank you." A tear rolled down her cheek, but she didn't care to wipe it away. "Hey, shh. Why are you crying?" I asked and pulled her to my chest. I held her tightly and let her cry for a while. When she looked up again my heart broke, she looked so fragile. "Em, what's wrong?" "I can't do this anymore. I can't lie to you anymore. I don't want it.." I didn't know what she was talking about and stroke a strand of hair back behind her ear. "Then tell me the truth." I said, not knowing what I had to expect from the truth. "I still have feelings for you, Jack." My heart skipped a beat when she spoke those words. "I just.. I'm just not ready to give you a second chance right now." She wiped away another tear with her sleeve. Without any hesitation I pulled her into a tight hug. "Take as much time as you need." She wrapped her arms around me and hugged me back. "Whenever I'm ready, you'll be the first one to know." I stroke her back with my thumb. "I will wait for you." I whispered in her ear.
We sat there for another couple of minutes, just hugging each other. When we eventually got back to the bus, I showed her Alex's bunk, her place to sleep for the night. We wished each other a good night and I drifted off to sleep quickly.
Emily POV:
I woke up to the smell of coffee and opened my eyes. Disoriented, I looked around and soon I realised that this was Alex's bunk. I yawned and remembered the conversation Jack and I had the other night. For the first time since the whole thing happened, I felt good. Telling Jack about my real feelings was a good thing to do. I stepped out of the bunk and walked towards the part of the bus where I heard voices. "Good morning." Rian smiled at me. "Hey." I smiled back. "Want some coffee?" Zack asked, already handing me a cup. "Yeah, thanks." I took a sip and looked around. "Alex and Ashley not back yet?" I asked. "Nope. Probably had a wild night those two." Rian joked. When I finished my coffee, I decided to change into some clothes. "Uhm, can I use the bathroom to get dressed?" "Sure, it's right here." Zack said and pointed at the door on my right. "Thanks." I walked back to the bunks to grab my clothes and heard the sound of Jack snoring. I kneeled down at his bunk and stared at him. It's funny how life goes. Before this summer, I could only have dreamed about this. All Time Low were my heroes and Jack was the hot guitarist who I had a crush on. And now, a couple of months later, here I am. The boys are basically my best friends and Jack.. Well, he was willing to wait for me to try it again. There were still some moments that I had to pinch myself because it all seemed like I was living a dream. I softly stroked his cheek and he slowly opened his eyes. When he saw me, he smiled. "Good morning." I smiled back at him. "Good morning, Jack."
After I got dressed, Ashley and Alex entered the bus. "Look who's here!" Jack grinned. "The loooove birds." Rian chuckled. "Oh, shut up Rian. You're just jealous because Cassadee couldn't make it." Alex said and gave Ashley a kiss on her forehead. I took a bite from my apple when Matt entered the bus. "Good morning guys! Hope you didn't forget that you have an interview in 30 minutes?" He took a cup of coffee. "No, we'll be there." Jack told him. "Good." Matt said and smiled at me and Ashley before leaving the bus again. "I'm sorry, babe, I have to get ready.." I heard Alex say to Ashley. She nodded and gave him a kiss. "It's almost Christmas." she said, which made him smile. I felt someone wrap his arms around me and turned around. "I think it's time to say bye." Jack smiled. "I guess I'll see you at Christmas?" He nodded. "Bye, Em." he said. "Bye." I smiled. I said bye to Zack, Rian and Alex as well. It was just for a couple of days though. In less than two weeks, we would all see each other again.
On our long way home, I asked Ash all about her night. "And have you told him about Lisa?" She sighed. "No. But I'm over it, really. I don't give a fuck about what she says." I chuckled. "That's my girl." She looked over at me when she stopped at the red lights. "How was your night?" I took a deep breath. "Jack and I talked." "Aaand?" "I told him how I really feel.. But that I'm not ready to try it again right now." "Aaand?" The lights turned green and Ashley concentrated on the road again. "And he said he's willing to wait untill I'm ready." I couldn't help but smile. "Oh my gosh! That is so sweet!" She had a huge smile on her face. "I'm so happy for you, Em. It will all be okay. You guys are made for each other." I smiled and stared out of the window. Maybe we are..

"I think it's time to say bye." Jack smiled. "I guess I'll see you at Christmas?" He nodded. "Bye, Em." he said. "Bye." I smiled. I said bye to Zack, Rian and Alex as well. It was just for a couple of days though. In less than two weeks, we would all see each other again.
