Manage Me

The Fourth Drink Instinct

The next morning, I woke up in Alex's arms. We’d gotten in late, so we decided to go straight to bed when we got to the hotel. Somehow his shirt had come off. I ran my hands through his hair and he woke up. He rubbed his chest.

"Are you feeling better?" I asked.

"Yeah." he mumbled sleepily.

"That's good." I smiled.

"Yeah." he breathed.

"I'm going to go see about breakfast." I told him.

"Breakfast?" he asked.

"Yeah." I replied.

"Brooke, I think I love you." he gasped, looking at me as if I was God.

"Aw, I love you too, Alex." I smiled, kissed him, and went next door to Jack and Zack’s hotel room. I saw Jack passed out on one of the beds.

"Jack!" I yelled and he spazzed out, squealing like a girl.

"What, woman?" he asked.

"It's time for breakfast." I replied.

"Food!" he yelled, tackling me in a hug.

All the rest of the guys met up in Jack and Zack’s room.

"What are we having?" Alex asked sleepily.

"Well, I was thinking we'd see what’s around." I told him.

"Mkay." he mumbled, falling back on the couch.

I started searching on my iPhone for someplace. I finally turned to the guys.

“Guys, there’s a McDonald’s like two minutes from here. Is that cool?” I asked.

"Whoo!" the guys yelled in unison, punching the air. I just got an iced coffee while Alex got enough to feed three people.

"Honestly, Alex?" I asked, disgusted.

"Hey, as long as I don't get fat, it's all good." he told me through a mouthful of food.

"What are we doing today?" I asked. Alex prepared to speak, but I shook my head at him and he swallowed his food.

"Well, the band has an interview and I really don't think you should come along." Alex told me.

"But you let me come along the one time." I protested.

"That was because we weren’t actually dating then. If I could just have a normal life and a normal nine to five job in some office, I would if it meant I could kiss you whenever. I don't want them to ruin you." he said sharply.

"But," I protested weakly, trying to think of an argument to counter his.

"Please don't look at me like that. I'm trying to be good boyfriend here. The way I see it, the more we flaunt our relationship, the more shit we're gonna get. You understand now?" he explained, coming over to hug me.

"Yeah. I'm sorry I got upset." I whispered, burying my face in his chest.

"Does this count as our first fight?" he asked quietly, running his fingers through my hair.

"No. Neither of us stormed away." I replied.

"Good, then we're still clean." he smiled. "I love you." he said softly. I froze. I wasn't expecting that. He'd said it earlier, but he wasn't serious. Now he was. "I-you-you don't have to say it back. I was just putting that out there." he stammered.

"I love you too, Alex." I replied, smiling. He relaxed, hugging me. They got ready for the interview and left me all alone at the hotel. I went swimming in the hotel pool with some of the crew, who weren’t needed for the interview.

--

They finally returned.

"How was it?" I asked.

"It was good. They asked me what my favorite non-alcoholic beverage was." Alex replied, laughing.

"Hey, the people need to know." I shrugged.

"The interviewer was a girl." he said softly.

"Okay." I nodded.

"And she was trying to get me in her pants." he continued.

"What did you do?" I asked, afraid of what his answer might be.

"I pushed her off as best I could, but damn, she was strong. She kissed me and shoved her tongue down my throat, but I felt absolutely nothing." he said nervously.

"It's okay." I whispered, hugging him.

"Why aren't you mad?" he asked weakly.

"It wasn't your fault. You couldn't do much about it." I reasoned.

"I don't deserve you." he breathed.

"Hey, you can't help being gorgeous." I pointed out.

"Yeah. You know what I love about you?" he asked.

"No. What?" I smiled.

"The fact that you can make me feel like shit and the luckiest man alive at the same time." he replied.

"I don't know whether to think that was incredibly insulting, incredibly cheesy, or both." I laughed.

"I'd go with both." he said, his voice going deeper.

He pushed me down on the bed. He got our clothes off and hovered over me.

"Are you sure?" he asked lowly.

"Jesus, Alex, just do it." I laughed.

"Just trying to be a gentleman." he whispered.

He went inside me. I gasped, digging my nails into his shoulders. I kissed him, slowly moving down to kiss the base of his neck just above his collarbone.

"Brooke. Jesus Christ, Brooke. Fucking shit." he moaned. I'd found his sensitive spot. He moved so his lips were at my chest. He kissed one breast, sucking it lightly.

"Alex, oh my God." I moaned. He'd found my sensitive spot. He thrusted inside me, moving faster with every beat of our hearts.

"I'm close." he whispered. He finally fell limp on me. I rolled us so that I was on top of him. "I love you, Brooke. Don't ever doubt that." he whispered.

"I love you, Alex." I whispered.

Soon, he was snoring with his mouth slightly open. I stayed awake to think. The past few months had been unreal. One second we were fighting and the next we were a couple. I just hoped the current state of things wouldn't change.

I've been stumbling across stories I've read, and checking them out again since I seem to forget them after it's been a while. This was one of those cases.
Reading this again, and after reading other stories on here and Mibba, I've realized that with my last comment, I was a bit off. Yes, Brooke and Alex's relationship was cute when they were together/sweet to each other, but reading it again, their relationship was a bit abusive. Neither is completely innocent, but the version of Alex you wrote in this took it to the next level. I realize a lot of it was because of his insecurities, what he dealt with in the past, etc., but Brooke didn't deserve any of that. When she did mess up, she definitely didn't take her anger to the levels he did.
Idk, I'm conflicted because again, when they were together, it was cute, but then it just got sad when they weren't. I'm not sure why she put up with as much as she did.
Your writing is still good, though. Just wish they didn't have so many downs in their relationship. It got really sad at a lot of points, and I just felt Alex didn't need to take it to the degree he did, I mean really.
I doubt you saw my other comment, but just thought I would comment again as an update and to possibly get you to see it.
