Under Moonlit Skies

Six

It was finally close to night fall. Alex and I had came out early in the afternoon to pitch my tent and get a fire started for me. I was worried that my dad might find our camp and try to kill the guys. I knew Alex could tell I was scared of what could happen tonight.

"Av, relax, nothing's going to happen tonight," Alex said as he wrapped his arms around me.

"You don't know that, Alex. My dad is ruthless when he hunts. He will kill you and the guys," I leaned into him more as we enjoyed the fire.

"We'll make sure he won't get us," Alex said as he rubbed my arms to keep me warm.

Soon night began to fall and the boys went into the trees to turn. I sat as close to the fire as I could manage to try to keep warm. I soon felt better when Alex trotted over and sat against my side, sharing his warmth with me. I threw my blanket around him to get his body heat to stay close to me.

"I wish I was like you, Alex," I mumbled as we watched the flames dance, "I wouldn't be so cold and I would be so worried about my parents since they'd be wolves too."

Alex looked up at me. In his eyes I could tell he was thinking that he loved me for the way I was. I was so dumb to think that being a hunter, I wasn't perfect for Alex. I bet he'd say that I'm perfect as the way I am. Maybe he'd be right about that.

After a while, I heard silence through out the woods. Which made me relax a little too much. As I held my hands over the flames of my newly-stoked fire when I felt Alex stiffen up next to me. He stood up and I watched the fur on his back rise, which meant he sensed a threat. Got to hand it to Alex, his normal protective nature as a human carried over and amplified into his wolf side.

"There's one," I heard a familiar voice shout. Father.

"Don't touch him," I shouted, stepping between the shadowed figures out in the distance across the field and Alex, "He has done nothing wrong and is obeying the laws."

"He is in a wooded area by a human. We must do what is right," I heard my father spew his ignorance around.

"I'm a hunter, same as you, Dad," I told him.

"Aveline, why are you out here with a wolf," he asked.

"I'm spending a full moon with my boyfriend so he isn't alone," I told him.

"Take them both down," he ordered. The last thing I saw was Alex being forced to the ground and wolfsbane was injected into his neck.
I woke up to find I was bound to a chair in my basement. I saw Alex laying on the ground, naked and coated in dirt and blood. I tried to break the binding on my chair, but it was useless.

"Alex," I whispered, trying to wake Alex up.

"Aveline," he groan.

"I am so sorry I got us into this," I told him.

"It's not your fault, Aveline," he replied, his voice was raspy and coarse.

"What did they do to you," I asked him.

"Sprayed me with wolfbane while I was chained with silver. They hit me with a whip coated in woflsbane oil and embedded with silver," he told me.

"You're awake at last, Aveline," my dad sneered as he walked into the room.

"Let us go. We've don nothing wrong," I yelled at him. He scowled at me and slapped me across my face, splitting my lip.

"You are a traitor to your family and the oath, Aveline," he snapped at me, "You will learn to speak when you are spoken to traƮtre."

"Don't you dare touch her," Alex growled at him.

"Shut up, wolf," he yelled and hit Alex with a whip.

"Alex! Aveline," I heard Alex's dad call out. Soon he appeared in the room with Jack beside him.

"Gaskarth," my father sneered at Mr. Gaskarth.

"Dupont," he replied, "You are to release them. They have done nothing wrong. You have no right to hold them."

"We're getting you guys out of here," Jack whispered as he got me free of my bindings.

"Not if I can help it," before anyone could stop him, my dad stabbed Alex in his chest, barely missing his heart.

"Alex no," I screamed as Peter carried me out of the room as Jack got Alex out.

I really, really love this. It's such a sweet story; checking out a few vampire Alex fics lately, I decided to check out a wolf one and it doesn't disappoint. <3
I'm sad it was never continued, though. If you ever choose to continue, I will be here to read. :)
I think it deserves an ending, maybe my comment will inspire you? Hmm...
