Chased by the Past
You might not know it but I'm here (Zack POV, Rian POV)
Zack POV
It was five days after the attack. Rian was still unconscious, but at least he had regained the ability to breathe. Apparently, the bear had hit his head very hard on the ground during the attack and Ri had suffered severe head damage. Luckily his brain still seemed to function normally.
One thing that was positive, was that the hunter who had shot the bear and saved my life, supported me a lot. He spent a lot of his time at the hospital, calming me down when I was once again having panic attacks that Rian would never wake up again, holding me close when I was crying. I hadn’t realized it through all the pain, but I had formed quite a strong bond with him. It was when I panicked for what felt like the 5000th time that I realized it.
He was kneeling in front of me, holding my hand. He spoke softly to me, trying to calm me down. I was slowly getting better again but the fear was still raging inside me when I looked in his eyes. They were blue and looked like the ocean. I lost myself in them and only snapped out of it when he moved his head ever so slightly. I gasped for air, I hadn’t noticed I had been holding my breath. He brought his hand up to my face and stroked my cheek so lightly I was barely able to feel it.
I realized what we were doing in front of Rian and broke away. I got up and left the room, scared Eric would follow me. He didn’t.
Rian POV
I was sick of hearing my friends and my sweetheart Zack cry so much, my mum and dad had sat at my bed for hours, desperate for a sign of consciousness. I was trapped in my body, able to hear and smell everything and see shadows through my eyelids.
Zack and the hunter, Eric, had been getting closer to each other, and it hurt me so bad. I hoped Zack was too confused by the pain of me being like this to realize what he was doing.
