Chased by the Past

Pure fluffiness (Jack POV)

“Lexy…” I sleepily mumbled after we had finished the third DVD and our second beer. “Yes Jay?” he replied in the same way as me. “How are you feeling now?” – “I’m fine, not nauseous anymore. How about you?” I smiled a bit to myself, thinking about how I felt. “You know, I really feel like cuddling, if that is okay for you. Please tell me if anything is too hard on you or makes you uncomfortable, you know…” – “Of course, Jack. I am strong.”

And so we pulled up the blanket and snuggled close to each other. Alex was a bit stiff a first (no, not what you think), but as time passed and our cuddling became more intimate, he seemed to build up trust in me to not hurt him.

I kissed him lightly, always careful not to do anything violent that could trigger any bad memories. When he tensed up a bit, I rubbed his back while continuing to brush his lips, and he soon was back to normal.

I looked at my watch. It was a quarter past four; our delivery was to arrive soon. When Alex had requested a little break, I had gone “for a wee”, but I really had called someone and ordered something so cute and delightful, I was sure Alex would squeal with happiness.

15 minutes later, someone knocked at the door. I smiled to myself and strutted to the door. Alex looked confused; I hadn’t told him about anyone coming. I opened the door and was greeted by a woman, hung with some baskets. She didn’t say hello, her little companions did that for her.
Tiny meowing sounds came from the baskets, indicating that she had done as I had asked her. I let her in, and she put down the baskets on the bed. It were 4 containers, and she opened them, careful not to scare the little creatures inside any further.

By that time, Alex had already guessed what was in the baskets. He was sporting the biggest smile I had ever seen on his face, and I could see tears in his eyes. When the first little kitten brought up enough courage to leave the transport basket, he did the thing I had missed most since the incident: he let out a little squeal and forgot everything around him; only concentrating on the little fluffy fur-ball on the bed.

I hugged the lady, thanking her, and asking what she wanted to do now and how long we could have them for. She said she’d give us some time alone with her little darlings, asking shyly if we could pay for dinner at the hotel’s restaurant for her. Of course I said yes, telling her to order everything she could think of to stuff herself.

When she had left, also with a broad grin on her face, I went back to Alex, who was now covered in kittens, happily stroking them, playing with them and even having little meowy “conversations” with them. I joined him on the bed and was soon having kittens all over me too. When some of the kittens had fallen asleep on Alex’s belly, exhausted from the intense cuddling action with Alex, he turned his face to me and thanked me. He was happy in a way he had not been for a long time, and I wanted to keep this smile on his face forever. I managed to free my hand from a kitten playing with it, and touched his cheek.

“Alex, I love you. I want you to know that you have the most beautiful smile in this world on your face, and I would do anything to keep it there forever. It makes my heart almost explode with love and joy to see you like this.” Alex looked me deep in the eyes. “Thank you so much Jack. I love you too, if not more than you ever could love me, and I promise, I will try to keep this smile on my face for as long as possible. You should know that you being happy has the same effect on me…”

In that moment, one of the kittens bit me in my toe. I let out a little shriek, it didn’t hurt too bad, I was just taken by surprise. Alex laughed at me, but as karma always comes back at you, another kitten bit him in the arm.

“Ow, you little fluffball! Will you stop it!” he picked up the little cat, placing it on his belly, next to another one. Smirking, he pet it and it started to purr. At this sound, Alex was back to full on smiling.

I picked up a black one and tried the same. Mine started purring too, and I indulged in the little vibrations while looking at Alex. Surprisingly, both our kitties yawned at the same time, it was absolutely adorable to see it. I could see Alex holding back a squeal at so much cuteness, but the yawning was contagious and he yawned too. Now it was my turn at holding back a squeal because Alex was so cute.

Two hours later, all the kittens but two were fast asleep. It was a black one with light golden stripes, and a brown one. “Look, the black one has the same hair as you!” Alex said, grinning. “Yeah, but look at the brown one. Doesn’t it remind you of someone? Someone special, sitting next to me?” – “I love you Jay. So much.”
