Twenty-one.
Ashley POV:
Everything was great between Alex and me. And things were also going great between Emily and Jack. I could see Jack truly made her happy. It was the second week of August already, and I didn’t want to think about what was going to happen when the vacation would end. Jack and Alex were taking us out tonight for dinner, they said they had a surprise for us. I was really excited. This was the first time we would go for dinner with the four of us and they planned a surprise so, yeah, it was exciting. They would pick us up at 7:30 which was already in one and a half hour. “I shower first!” I shouted and ran into the bathroom. “I hate you, Ashley.” Emily mumbled. “I love you too!” I undressed and jumped into the shower. I washed my hair with the new shampoo I’d bought. It smelled like strawberries and Alex liked it. When I was done I wrapped a towel around my body and one around my hair. Emily was knocking impatiently on the door and almost fell when I opened it. I laughed when she stuck out her tongue and slammed the door shut. I walked to my bedroom to look for some clothes. After trying out several outfits I finally found the right one. Emily walked into my room, wearing a beautiful pink dress. “What do you think?” she asked me. She’d straightened her blonde hair and her make-up looked just right, not too much. “Wow, Em. You look so pretty!” She smiled and pulled me into a hug. “Have you seen yourself? You look amazing.” “Thanks, I don’t know what to do with my hair, though.” She thought for a while. “Let me braid your hair.” She suggested. I agreed and so she braided my hair. When she was done I put on some eyeliner and mascara. “We’re ready!” Emily cheered. “I don’t know what I have to expect of their surprise. What could it be?” She said. “I really have no idea. You never know what to expect with those guys.” “That’s true.” We both laughed and then the doorbell rang. I opened it and hugged Jack. Alex smiled when he saw me. “Hey handsome.” I said to him and leaned in to kiss him. “You look so hot.” He whispered in my ear and kissed my neck. I giggled and he took my hand. “Let’s go.”
We walked to his car and Jack and Emily followed. Alex sat in the drivers seat and I took place in the passenger seat. Jack and Emily were sitting in the backseat, they could not keep their hands off each other. “HEY ALEX TURN UP THE DAMN VOLUME, THAT’S US!” Jack yelled. I laughed and Alex did what he’d been asked. “BACKSEAT SERENADE, DIZZY HURRICANE OH GOD I’M SICK OF SLEEPING ALONE, YOU’RE SALTY LIKE A SUMMER DAY, KISS THE SWEAT AWAY. TO YOUR RADIOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!” We were all singing along and we probably looked like a bunch of idiots. When we arrived at the restaurant, Alex held the car door open for me. “Hey, are you going to open my door too, or what?” Jack said to him. Alex sighed and opened Jack and Emily’s door as well. We took place at the table that was reserved for us. I sat next to Emily, and the boys sat in front of us.
We ordered some champagne to start the evening with. “Did you do that by yourself?” he pointed at my hair. “No, Emily did that.” I smiled. “It’s really pretty.” “Guys, I’m so hungry. Is it okay if we order now, please?” Jack looked at us with puppy eyes. “When are you not hungry?” Emily rolled her eyes at him. Alex gave the waiter a sign that we were ready to order. Alex asked for the salmon this time, Jack wanted to eat.. snails? Ew. Emily had chosen spaghetti and I ordered a salad.
“So, I think it’s time for the surprise.” Jack said after we finished dinner. “Oh yeah, the surprise, almost forgot about it.” Alex added. Emily and I were all ears. Alex took my hand that lay on the table in his. “So, Jack and I thought it would be great to..” he stopped and laughed because of our expectant faces. “Go on a vacation together!” Jack finished his sentence.
