I woke up to an annoying beeping sound and a feeling of nostalgia washed over me. I swear to god, if I wake up and this has all been a dream and Alex is here or something I will NOT be happy. I groaned loudly as my head started to throb, and then the memories of last night came rushing back to me.
“Lauren?” That voice from last night said. I opened my eyes and looked up at the guy who saved my life and groaned again.
“Why are you here?” I asked.
“So I save your life and that's what you reply with” He smirked.
“Yeah, you saved my life but that doesn't exactly make up for fucking ruining it 7 years ago, does it, Alex?” I asked sarcastically. His smile dropped.
“You know I never meant that” He said.
“Sure you didn't” I said and looked away.
“Look Lauren, I'm sorry. I still love you and-” I cut him off.
“2 things Alex. 1, I saw the interview. You don't need to say anything else on that topic-”
“You know about All Time Low?” He interrupted, clearly happy by that piece of information.
“It's a recent thing. And the second thing I wanted to say is, do you really think a simple 'sorry' will make up for what you did to me?” I said. I couldn't believe what I was doing. This is my one chance to get him back and I'm ruining it.
“What else can I say? If you gave me the chance, I'd prove to you how sorry I am and how much I still love you” He said. I held back the tears.
“I think you need to leave now Alex.” I whispered. He looked at me sadly then turned to walk away but then turned back and handed me a piece of paper.
“Here's my number, just in case you change your mind” He said, close to tears. He then turned and walked to the door.
“Alex wait” I said. He turned around and I chickened out on what I was actually going to say and sighed.
“Yeah?” He said.
“Your shoelace is untied.” He didn't even check. He just walked away. I finally let the tears fall. Why did I just do that?

I had been led in the hospital bed awake for at least an hour and a nurse walked in.
“So how's your head” She asked me.
“It actually doesn't hurt any more” I lied. I just wanted to get out of here and see Jay.
“Okay well, we just need you to sign a few forms and then you can go” She said handing me the forms. I signed everything without reading it and the nurse gave me back my things. I called Jay.
“Hey, so how was your date?” He asked.
“Long story short. He tried it on with me, I ran away, he caught me and smashed my head on the ground, Alex saved the day, he was here a minute ago but I sent him away, I'm at the hospital, can you bring me some clothes?” I said.
“Oh, uh yeah I'll be right there” He said and hung up. I was only waiting for 10 minutes before he showed up.
“Lauren, thank God you're all right” He said, handing me the clothes. He turned away while I got changed and them we walked out to the car in silence.
“So tell me what happened” He said on the way back to his.
“I will at the house” I said. He just nodded. We got back to the house and I was greeted by Emma and Max asking me how I was and what happened.
“Well, if you all sit down and shut up for 5 minutes I'll tell you” I said. They all sat down so I began.
“Well the dinner part of the date went really well. Perfect in fact. We had lots in common and we spoke about quite a lot. But then when we finished, he said he's take me home, but instead he took me to an alley way and tried making out with me. I kicked him in the balls, ditched my heels and ran away, but he caught up with me and smashed my head against the floor, but guess who saw and came and pulled him away? Alex. I blacked out before I realised it was him though. I woke up in the hospital and he was there, we had a sort of argument and I told him to leave me alone, which I regret but don't regret and he gave me his number, then I called Jay and now I'm here” I said. They all looked at me in horror.
“I think you should call Alex” Jay spoke up.
“What?” I looked at him in shock.
“Well he clearly loves you enough to say in in an interview and then sit in a hospital for 10 hours waiting for you to wake up. And imagine if it was the other way around and he did this to you? How would you feel? Besides, you clearly still love him too.
“He's right” Emma and Max said. I stared at them all.
“I, I don't know if I can do that” I said.
“You've been waiting for this for 7 years, Lauren. Don't wait any longer” Jay said.
“Jay, I-” He cut me off.
“Remember when you used to come home from school crying or wake up crying because you missed Alex and Jack and you wanted them to call? Or when other kids picked on you or hit you and you wanted Alex to save the day? Well that just happened Lauren, and what are you doing about it? Nothing. Imagine of your 16 year old self could see you now. She'd be really fucking pissed off at you, wouldn't she?” He said.
“You're right. But give it a week at least.” I said.
“No, now” He replied.
“Jay, I will do it, but just let me wait a week.” I said. He sighed.
“Fine, but if you don't do it, then me, Max and Emma will” He said. And they weren't joking. I could tell.
“I will” I said. He smiled and then all 3 got up and jumped on me.
“You're all fucking lucky I love you” I said.
“What's family for, eh?” Max said. We all sat together like that for a while before there was a knock that the door. Max got up and walked back in 2 minutes later.
“Lauren, its uh, its for you” He said. I was confused, but I went to the door. And completely froze. There stood my parents with 2 police officers.
“Lauren, you're so grown up!” Dad said, trying to hug me.
“Don't touch me” I said.
“Lauren Williams, the incident last night was reported and it will be taken to court.” One of the police officers said.
“Right, so what are these 2 doing here?” I asked, pointing to my parents.
“They have scheduled a legal meeting with you here in this house and you are required by law to sat for the duration” He replied.
“I didn't consent.” I said.
“You don't have to. It's a legal requirement.” He said. I glared at him.
“Right well, good luck” The other officer said and they walked off, leaving me stood there, glaring at my parents. I turned on my heel and walked in. They followed me. Jay, Emma and Max froze when they saw them.
“Jay, Emma, Max. I'm required by law to sit with these 2 for as long as they desire” I said.
“What. The. Fuck.” Emma said.
“Well, we would like to talk to our daughter, so it you'd just like to leave” Mum said.
“No, you don't talk to my family like that.” I said.
“Honey, they're not your family, we are” She said.
“Fuck off, you ruined my fucking life and led me to attempt suicide.” I said and then froze. I forgot that I never told anyone in this room about that.
“Look, if you all just sit down, I'll explain.” I said. They all sat down and I began explaining myself for the second time today.
“Well when you went on that 3 week holiday Mum and Dad, me and Jack fell out and I completely broke down. And took a load of pills. Alex found me and took me to the hospital.” I said. Mum started crying.
“Why the fuck are you crying, you never wanted me while I was growing up, you treated me like shit, so don't fucking cry about it!” I shouted at her.
“Now listen here Laura, don't fucking talk about your mother that way!” Dad said getting up and walking towards me. Jay immediately jumped up and make him sit back down.
“Oh, here we go again with the getting my name wrong! Seriously, my name is Lauren, get it right for once. You're a pathetic excuse for a father. I spent my whole life in fear that if I say something wrong or do something wrong I'd get my head kicked in. And Jay here, spent 3 years helping me get out of that habit. These 3 people here are my family, they've been there for me, they love me and you had no right coming here today” I said.
“You fucking bitch!” Dad shouted and ran at me. He knocked me to the floor and started punching me. Jay and Max pulled him off me and Emma helped me up.
“Leave. Now.” I said. Mum and Dad got up and left while I fell to the floor and broke down in sobs.
“So Alex saved your life twice then?” Max asked.
“I guess” I sobbed.
“Max, now isn't the right time for that” Emma said, and sat next to me. Jay and Max joined shortly after.
“Well, now that I've met your parents, I now know why you hardly ever talk about them.” Jay said.
“Yeah, you only experienced one of my Dad's episodes. I tell you, they were like that, but to the point where I had bones broken and I always had an injury. It was horrible. I was suicidal from the age of 11 until I came here. They destroyed me” I said and broke down again.
“Do you wanna stay here for the next few nights until this all blows over” Jay asked. I nodded. I still have my old room here and a few sets of clothes for times like these.
“Right well, its only 7 o'clock, how about we all sit down and watch Matilda?” Jay said. I smiled at him. I was so lucky to have him as a cousin.

“I'll get the film, Max you get the DVD player hook up, Jay you get blankets and Lauren you get drinks and snacks” Emma said. We all went off on our mission and we then came back and set up the pillows and blankets on the floor and we all settled down to watch Matilda. Emma had her head on Jay's lap and I had my head on Max's lap. I honestly have to say, I have so much to thank these three for, and I'd never be able to make it up to them.
