Trial by Fire

E I G H T

It was raining outside today and it was freezing cold too. So much for going to the beach today. Alex and I were now holed up in my room. I was reading in my grimoire while Alex bounced a ball against my ceiling. We both were bored out of our minds.

“Camille, how do you feel about rain,” Alex asked.

“I lived in Seattle for five years. It grew on me,” I told him, “Why?”

“I wanted to know if you wanted to dance in it with me,” he asked.

“You are such a dork. I’m cooler than you and I’m a junior,” I teased him as I shut my grimoire.

“That’s it, you earned it,” Alex grabbed me and threw me over his shoulder and ran out my house.

Alex ran into the empty street of our neighborhood and spun me around in circles as the rain soaked us both. I was laughing and screaming at the cold sensation of the rain hitting my skin. I was warm though thanks to Alex holding me.

“Alex, put me down,” I shouted over the heavy rain as I pounded my fists into his back.

“Buzzkill,” Alex joked as he put me down, his face inches from mine.

“I want to be warm if I’m out here,” I told him as I watched his line of sight switch between my eyes and my lips.

Alex brought his lips to mine. He was soft, like he was barely touching my lips with his. I kissed him back, wrapping my arms around his neck to keep him close to me. He replied by wrapping his arms around my waist, pulling me closer to him so our bodies touched. I snaked my fingers into his long, soaking wet hair, letting my fingers get lost in his locks.

“You have no idea how long I wanted to do that,” Alex breathed after we broke apart, “Ever since the morning after I’ve fought back wanting to kiss you.”

“That kiss,” I breathed heavily still high in the clouds from how perfect the kiss was, “was the best one I’ve ever had.”

“Then I’ll give you another,” Alex smirked and kissed me again.

Alex and I went back to school after our kiss over the weekend, his fingers laced with mine. Jack actually drove himself and Rian to school today with Cass and Melody in tow. When Melody saw me with Alex, she lit up brightly and ran over to me, crushing me in a huge hug.

“I can’t breathe, Mels,” I told her, gasping for air.

“I’m so happy for both of you,” she cheered as she let me go, “Now Alex isn’t the lonely guy in bunch and you have a place to call your own amongst us.”

“So is it official? Alex, did you make Camille your girlfriend,” Rian asked as he kept Cass next him, knowing she’d crush me like Melody did.

“Yeah it’s official Cam and I are an item,” he told them, smiling as he wrapped his arms around my shoulders.

Throughout the day, I was asked about how everything with our relationship was. I mean, he imprinted on me before the feelings we had for each other grew until we finally started being boyfriend and girlfriend. I also hated this attention.

“So I heard you’re dating Alex,” some brunette I had seen hanging out with the Synfires sneered at me while I was at my locker getting my chemistry stuff for class.

“I am,” I told her, “And what’s it to you?”

“He’s my ex,” she snapped at me, “You stole him from me. As soon as he met you when you moved into that house next door to him, he broke up with me.”

“I had nothing to do with that,” I told her.

“Bullshit,” she slapped across my face.

“Lisa, what the fuck,” I heard Alex shout at her.

“She was being rude and insulted me,” she lied, ‘it was an instinct.”

“I know that’s bullshit, Lisa. Get out of her and don’t touch my girlfriend again,” he yelled at her before she ran off, “I’m sorry bout Lisa. We’ve been on and off since we met freshman year.”

“Next time she touches me, I’m punching her in her face,” I told him as he walked me to our class.

I got home and everything was quiet, too quiet. I walked upstairs to my room and ditched my school bag before I explored the rest of my house. I nearly jumped out of my skin when I found an older woman sitting at the island counter in the kitchen.

“Who are you,” I asked her.

“I’m your grandmother,” she told me, “I’m a witch like you and your father. He’s my son.”

“Why am I just meeting you,” I asked her.

“Because I was just given recess from the High Witch Council,” she replied, “We’re the ones that make the rules when it comes to the white side of magic.”

“The white side,” I asked, “There’s sides to magic?”

“Yes there are,” she replied, “You never learned them growing up because your mother took you away before your father could start training you properly. White is the side of magic that uses magic to help and protect those that can’t. Black is what the Synfires are. You, my dear are the grey area we call the spectrum witches.”

“What are spectrum witches,” I asked her.

“They are the witches that dabble in all forms of magic without an affiliation to one side. They are the neutral witches,” she explained.

“But why are you here,” I asked her, needing to know why she was here and not somewhere else.

“I’m here to train you further and to be the one to accept your vows to join the white witches,” she answered, “It’s in your best interest to join us.”

“Why,” I asked.

“To protect not only you, but your friends,” she said, “And to make sure Alex is kept safe. Would you want him to get hurt as he tries to protect you?”

“How do you know about him,” I asked her.

“Lessa, as a member of the local wolf pack, has to file reports to us of any new wolves that come into their family’s power as a wolf or are turned,” she answered, “Lessa also has to report what wolves have imprinted and who are their charges. So I know about Alex being a werewolf and you are his charge.”

“I want to take the vow,” I told her, “I don’t want to join the Synfires.”

“I will let you take the vow once you have been fully trained in your magic,” she told me, “We will start training tomorrow night and you are to have Alex over. My friend in the wolf pack will be training him on how to tap into your magic.”

“Why can’t Lessa teach Alex that,” I asked.

“She is imprinted to a human,” she told me, “My friend is imprinted to a witch.”

“Who’s the witch he’s imprinted on,” I asked.

“My girlfriend,” a tall guy with tattoos covering most of his arms said, “I’m Austin and I’m the same age as Alex so it’ll be easier for me to train him with being the same age. It’s nice to meet you, cousin.”

“Cousin,” I was totally lost.

“Austin Carlile is your cousin, Camille. He’s from your mother’s side of the family. Your mother was the only human to ever be born into a pure werewolf family to not have any werewolf traits passed down to her.”

“So I have family that’s werewolves,” I was so lost by all of this. My life is so far from normal, I’ll never be able to get there in my lifetime.

So after checking out your other story, I decided to check this one out too. And I'm glad I did because I really like this one as well. :D Bummed since it hasn't been finished or continued, but if you ever choose to, I will be here for this one as well.
You definitely offer unique plot lines so I think that's what I enjoy about your stories. I love the fantasy plot line of this one. I think Alex and Camille together are soooo cute. <3
I really hope you consider continuing this some day. I will be here to read.

To be honest, I play The Sims 3 all the time here at my dorm and I have the supernatural expansion pack. So I got bored one day and I played around with it, in the process I got inspired to write a story like this one.
