I woke up and rolled over, more like attempted. Zack still had his arms around me. I jerked out of his arms. In doing so I scared him awake. He looked at me with confused and tired eyes. "Sorry Zack My stomach..." I trailed off. Now remembering what happened to me last night. He slowly reached his hand over and lifted my shirt to show my stomach. "Paige...Who did this to you?" He asked with so much disappointment. I pulled the shirt down. I stood up and pulled on my jeans. "I can't tell you Zack. I'm sorry. I should get going anyways-" Zack stood up blocking me from the door. "Why? And why can't you tell me? And why are you sorry for what that piece of crap did to you? Do you not know who it is?" He was upset. "Zack-" "Paige just tell me." "Zack it was a kid from school alright. He beats me up every day. I care about you and don't want you to get hurt so...I let it happen."
He stepped closer. "Is that why you've been ignoring me?" "Yeah...The t-tormenting started after my m-mom past away." I started to cry. "That's when everyone stopped talking to me and everyone called me names and told me I should kill myself. I never wanted to push you away but it seemed easier the easiest way..." I trailed off. I leaned my head down so he couldn't see me cry. "Easiest way what?" He said pulling my head up to meet his eyes. "To protect you from everything I've been through...I wouldn't ever want you to go through the pain I did and do." He pulled me into a hug. I leaned my head on his shoulder. "I will never let anyone hurt you again...I will always be here for you." I started to cry. I gripped at the hair on his neck while my hands were wrapped around his neck.
I pulled away and bit my lip. I used the bottom of the sirt I was wearing to wipe my tears filled with makeup off his shoulder and chest. I laughed. "Sorry." "Don't worry about it." I turned around and threw some shorts at him along with a shirt. "Get dressed meet me at my car in 3." I said and grabbed my stuff and headed to my car. I started the car and turned it up iviva la gloria! was playing through my stereo. I was loudly singing aloud when someone knocked on car window it scarred the shit out of me. I turned it down and rolled my window down. "Hey Paige." "Hey...Jack." I said. "You like Green day?" "Yeah one of my favorites." "Who's your favorite?" Jack asked and that's when Alex ran up. "Hey Paige." "Mad Caddies. Hey Alex." I said. Then Zack walked out and yelled. "Hey guys, what you doing here?" He got to my car.
"Picking you up for practice. Remember?" "Oh right." "Wait practice? For what?" "We're in a band." Jack said while flipping his hair. "We're total band hotties now." I laughed and rolled my eyes. "Yep, completely irresistible. Actually I'm almost tempted to rip your clothes off right now." I said as Jack gulped hard. Zack opened the door. "Come with me?" The guys gave him a look. "Us..." "Alright but first...Get in!" I said. They all opened a door and climbed in. Except for Jack he climbed over Alex. "Where are we going?" Alex asked. "My house." I pulled out of the drive way and down the road. A short 3 minute drive later I pulled into my drive way.
I got out an walked up to the door. I opened it and looked around. It looked clear so I walked in inviting them in. "Paige? Is that you? Where were you last ni-" She stopped at the top of the steps. "Oh hello boys..." She gave me a confused look. "Good morning Amy!" I said happily. I grabbed Zack's hand and pulled the boys behind me and upstairs. I past Amy and gave her a kiss on the cheek. "I will tell you where I was later when I call to check in." I said and closed the door to my room. The guys sat on the bed. "Alright..." I said and went to my drawer. I looked through it till I found what I was looking for.
I pulled the pants I was wearing down. I started to sing. "Well, the first time I went out on my, own I was a young man." I pulled down Zack's boxers and pulled up the underwear I had pulled out. I threw them on the bed next to Zack. "almost seventeen right down to the day. Well, I packed up all my things." I turned around and pulled off Zack's shirt and put on the bra I had out. I clipped it and threw the shirt on the underwear. The guys were just watching me. I walked over to the closet and found the rest of my clothes. "grabbed my bag and kissed my mother and told her that I’d be back some day…So, I jumped into the back of an eighteen wheeler and ignored destination; didn’t even ask. With the wisdom that my father gave me ringing in my head so clearly- “Son, this world’s gonna kick you in the ass!”
I walked out of the closet holding my left foot in my hands trying to put on my sock. I had my shorts and everything on except my shirt wasn't buttoned. I got it on and put my foot down. I yelled. "Haha!" It my sock. Then my finger went up to the buttons on my shirt. I buttoned it and tied it about half way down my stomach. I walked over tot he bathroom. the guys still watching me. I pulled my hair out of the bun and took off all my jewelry. I grabbed my tooth brush and put some tooth paste on it and fluffed my hair as I brushed. I walked out of the bathroom with the tooth brush in my mouth. I walked over to my dresser and put in a new belly button ring. I started to sing while I was trying to get it in. Still holding the tooth brush in my mouth. "Sometimes I give myself the creeps. Sometimes my mind plays tricks on me.It all keeps adding up, I think I'm cracking up.Am I just paranoid? Am I just stoned?" The three of them started to sing with my tooth paste muffled words. I finished and pulled the tooth brush out of my mouth and went back to the bathroom.
I put in my blue tongue ring and stepped out of the bathroom. "Done!" I said and turned. "Shoes?" Zack said. I hung my body in defeat thus remembering I had indeed forgotten shoes. I walked over to them and sat on the floor. I put them on and hopped up. I opened the door to my room only to see Amy and Norm waiting at the bottom of the steps. The guys followed me down and I stopped at Amy and Norm. "you guys ok?" I asked. They looked at each other and turned back at me. "Can we talk to you for a second?" amy asked. "Of coarse. Guy head out to the car and I'll be there shortly." They smiled. "Nice to meet you guys." Amy and Norm both said. The guys waved.
"What's up?" I asked. "Paige...I'm so sorry but Norm got a job offer in California-" "I really don't want to move..." I said. They both looked at each other. "That's just it your not-" "But you just said you got a job offer in california?" I asked. "Yes he did...but-" Norm interrupted her. "Your not coming with us Paige..." I tears started to rise. "Paige we're sorry...A new family is gonna take you in but the closest one is an hour away..." "I understand." Was all I said. I walked past them and outside to my car. I took a deep breath and opened the door. I got in and pulled my seat belt on.
"Paige you ok?" Zack asked. "Yeah e-every things f-fine." I said. I turned up the radio and played Leavin'. I started to sing along letting silent tears roll down my face. I pulled up to Zack's house so Alex and Jack could take the car to Alex's house. They got out and I gripped the steering wheel tightly. So tight my knuckles were turning white. "Paige? What's wrong?" "They left me Zack and now I'm moving. I don't wanna move, I just got my best friend back. Aaaaggghhhhh." I slammed my hand against the steering wheel. "Paige It's alright." "No it's not Zack. I wanna stay here with you...If I move, I WILL MOVE. Like far away like Australia or Las Vegas. I will run away." I turned my face to him. He was looking at me the whole time. "I don't wanna leave you. I j-just d-don't." I said. I started to cry. Zack scooted closer to me. "I will never let you go alright...You can come live with me. We'll foster you." I sat up and looked at him. "Really?" I asked wiping my nose. "Really." I hugged Zack's neck. "I love you, Zack." He wrapped his arms around me. "I love you, too." I sat back and wiped my eyes. "Uggh." I smiled. "Better get you to practice then." I said and started the car. We pulled out of the drive way and headed towards Alex's house.
