A Life of the Plain and the Simple

Three

After dropping Jack off at home with Ace, I took Izzy to the nearest pet store to get everything we'd need for Ace to feel at home.

"You ready to get Ace everything he needs, Izzy," I asked my daughter as I got her out of the car.

"Yes Mommy," she replied.

"Let's go," I held out my hand to her and she took hold of it.

I grabbed us a cart and I sat her into the seat and headed to the dog food aisle. I pulled out my phone and I looked up what dog food would be best for Ace. Since he was a large breed puppy, I chose the Iams food designed for him.

"Alright we got the food, now onto getting Ace a bed," I told Izzy as we went to the back wall of the store to find a bed that'll last Ace well into his adult dog years.

"I like the purple bed," Izzy pointed out a big dog bed.

"How about we get Ace a blue or green dog bed since he's a boy," I told her.

"Okay Mommy," I grabbed a dark green bed and put it in the basket.

I took Izzy to the toy aisle and I let her out of the cart. I straightened out her outfit.

"Now go pick out a bone and one chew toy for Ace," I told her.

"Okay Mommy," Izzy went and grabbed a rope toy and a medium sized bone for Ace and handed them up to me.

"Good choice, Izzy," I praised her as I put the rope and bone into the basket before picking her back up to seat her in the cart.

I grabbed a green collar and leash for Ace along with a long line to tie him down in the yard until we train him enough to stay in the yard. I also got dishes for his food and water. Once I had everything for Ace, I went to the check out. I wanted to get Izzy back home so I can spend time with Jack and start training Ace so he fits into our house quickly.
"Ace go lay in your bed," I instructed our little puppy and he laid down in the bed.

"Good boy," Jack praised him and gave him a piece of his food for a treat.

"I think Ace will be a good fit here in the house," I told him.

"I agree. He'll be Izzy's companion while we leave for tour so she has someone to love," Jack replied as he wrapped his arms around my shoulders.

Izzy was in the living room coloring in her coloring book again. She let out a huge yawn, meaning she was ready for a nap. I went over and I sat next to her.

"Do you want to take your nap now, Izzy," I asked her.

"Yeah, I'm sleepy Mommy," she replied as she rubbed her face like how Jack does when he's tired.

"Okay, baby girl," I scooped her up into my arms and carried her up to her room.

I sat Izzy down on the edge of her bed and took her shoes off. I took out her ponytail and combed out her hair gently with my fingers. I kissed her forehead before I pulled back her covers and tucked her in.

"Mommy can you sing to me," she asked, yawning big.

"I'd love to," I replied before I sang to her one of the lullabies my mom sang to me when I was little.

After I knew she was out, I left her room and went downstairs to relax with Jack in our living room. I sat down in his lap and ran my fingers through his hair that he had tamed a bit, but it was still messy like I liked it. We kissed before I nestled into his chest.

"Do you think we're ready for another baby, Stella," Jack asked.

"Are you having baby fever," I asked.

"A little. I would love to give Isabelle a sibling. We both had siblings growing up. I think Isabelle should become a big sister soon," he replied.

"Maybe later," I told him, "I know that Tom has been talking to me about getting ready to propose to Aubree. We could wait until they've married and they plan to have a baby of their own before we try again."

"I think that could work. That way both of you can take it easy when you both are pregnant and maybe we can set it up so we record a new album at that time too," Jack added.

"For now let's focus on Ace and getting him completely settled in with our family," I told him before kissing him again.

Maybe having another baby would be nice. Isabelle would have a little sibling to play with along with Ace and Jack and I can have that new parent feeling again and share in it with Tom and Aubree when it's their time to start their family.
