Monday came, as soon as possible. It was as if, Sunday never existed.

Kellin and Abby were sitting beside each other and holding hands. My best friend resting on his shoulder; whichever, rarely happens. I could tell by their tomato red faces and eyes that would never separate that they were hiding a dirty little secret.

“Abby, I’ll get an extra can of Dr.Pepper. Wait for me” Kellin stood up, finally letting go of her
“But…” My best friend was looking awkwardly miserable, like he was leaving her for good and never returning
“Will come back” Kellin kissing her passionately, afterwards, departing

Now was the perfect moment to ask her what’s going on
“What did you two lovebirds do last night?”
“Uhhhh…nothing” She instantly clammed up
“Nothing? But there is something that you’re really hiding. Come on Abigail, just say the truth”
“Promise you won’t pray tell a single soul?”
“Just go”
She heaved heavily and sighed

“Kellin and I, did it, last night”
“OHMYGOD, YOU DIDN’T!!!!!!” I was so shocked, that eventually my jaw dropped down to the floor, and my hand was all over my mouth
“Yes, we did” Abby saying sheepishly
“I knew you had it coming” Trying to choke back my laughter
She exhaled dreamily, as she tried to recall every single detail that happened
“It was raining hard, right? Kellin and I ran to his house, which was near Royal Pain Records, after visiting Austin. We were drenched and wet all over, and as we were drying ourselves, Kellin suddenly remembered a similar moment we had from 7th grade. Where he vowed that he would be mine, and I would be his, his thunder and rain, and how it will never change. Where we first shared our first kiss”
“This time around, he repeated it, but came down on one knee….
Showed me a ring with his eyes burning for desire and passion
And asked me to marry him, in the near future”
Listening to Abby pouring her heart out, I was just so happy for the both of them.
She continued
“I said yes in less than a second. I loved Kellin for like half of my life and I know he’s the one I’m going to spend the rest of it with. Whatever the future has in store of us, we didn’t care as long we were together. Then, we kissed and kissed, and you know….” A giggle escaped through a tiny corner of her mouth
“To think, that you both despised each other in third grade. Constant bickering and calling names, who could ever forget that? Kellin always yanked your hair and played mean pranks on you. In return, you kicked him in the shin and told him to the teacher. The most adorable couple ever”
It was just like yesterday

“Move over you dumb doofus”
It was an ordinary afternoon from our ordinary third grade lives
A blonde little girl shrugged
Her emerald green eyes glimmered, she glared at him in the most annoyed way as possible. She seemed to be in the content of her patience.
The bell signaled for recess, but it seems one mischievous kid had other plans for play time
That kid had the most “out-of-bed” raven black hair and earthy olive brown eyes, with a dirty smirk on his face. He was labeled as the class clown or the teacher’s pain in the ass
He tugged the girl by her elbow, and said
“I ain’t done with you yet, poop face” he naughtily smiled
“Hey! I’m not a poop face. Besides, I’d had enough your tricks, you…..!”
He liked it when she was infuriated, it never fails to make him overjoyed
She was cute that way
“Extremely hot person” the boy finished
“JERK” That girl was so furious that he shoved him
For the past semester, the boy, who was called Kellin had taken liking to this girl, or even an infatuation

She was the sunniest and most kind of all those in his class, a brightly lit smile was always in her pretty face. She was smart, her hands were always raised even at the toughest questions during Science; the girl scored stars at every period, her teachers were proud of her. Everybody was her friend, she never fails to lend a hand to those who are in need. Most importantly, her green eyes mystified Kellin. They seem to put him in a trance, mesmerizing him every time he looks at her. The girl’s name was Abigail, but she goes by Abby. Kellin, who could nothing but stare at her pure awesomeness, at each class, making up own childish unrealistic fantasies in his head that one day, maybe one day, he and she would be happy together; to see her walking down the aisle, him waiting at the back. He would just sigh, thinking that it would never come true. The teachers will reprimand and pull him back to reality, the class would just surely laugh at his complete stupidity for such daydreaming; Abby would join too, Kellin was totally embarrassed by that; well she was the sole reason that he’d like to come to school every day. At home, his older brother, Austin would slap him hard in the back, to remind him that Cheerios was falling down from his chin from imagining her future with Abby. That girl always clouded his mind, his every thought. He can’t stop thinking about her, his stomach was making multiple flips each time he tries to steal a look from her. This nine year old boy was definitely in love. Abby has kidnapped his heart. Now he isn’t planning on getting it back

So he decided, that he would make him notice her. Even if it means trouble or turmoil, else Abigail maddened by him. At least, she knew of his existence, that was mighty fine for him already
Kellin did play all the pranks, the jokes, the tricks. He gathered a lot of enemies nor bullies, angry teachers nor janitors so delighted to spank him, detention slips, and a bad reputation.
Ending up, Abby thinking of him as nuisance, the trouble maker to be avoided, ironic to say
So Kellin, still relentless in proving his worthy to her, never gave up until 6th grade came
His parents fought more, they were either stay in separate houses or get divorced. He hated that fact, so he just became ignorant about it. But heated arguments and flying vases were added more, by each passing day. That caused Kellin to rebel, forgetting his studies, and gave him the lowest grade in misconduct & academics. These were his toughest times, and no one was out there to spare him out of his anguish

That was till Abby came into the scene

She was up to now, irritated by wayward teasing. But she has come to realize, that Kellin started to mature and lessened his misbehavior, possibly because of his arduous problems. Her heart was moved by sympathy, everyday he was just so gloomy and upset at the whole world, nobody approached him, instead badmouthed Kellin. He sure needed a friend who’d show him that the world can still be a better place.

Abby came towards him, she bid a small hello and beamed
Kellin wanted to pinch himself, was he dreaming, the love of his life was smiling down at him and said hello
Yet, he came to think that Abby was going to tell him more dirty words that would just shatter him
“Uhhhh…If you’re going to tell me that I’m such an asshole. Back off”
He shouldn’t have said that. But his rage got the better of him
Abby raised an eyebrow
“I got to admit, that you were before, but now I think you need help”
“I don’t need your pathetic help. I don’t need anybody like you”
“Kellin, look, I can’t bear seeing anybody in pain. I can be your friend, if you just let me to”
Kellin’s eyes widened, Abby has moved her, and it was enough to make him tear. No one had showed him that concern or care since….forever
Before the opportunity leaves with her, he grasps her wrist, seeing Abby looking back
She was crying, oh no, he said too much, now this was breaking his heart
He consoled her, embraced Abby and patted her back
She remained sobbing when she said
“I just wanted to ease your pain, to share your burden. I can’t see you be miserable like that. It’s brings me down.”
“Hush now, its okay”
“No it’s not, everyday in class, you look so depressed and tormented by the too much difficulties you have been experiencing. I want you to stop suffering”
Kellin tightened his embrace, he was touched to the core, how he loved Abby so
“Thank you, Abby. Just thank you, from the very depth of my soul. I promise, I’m going to be better and try to be something more. And I won’t make you cry again, I’m going to make you happy all the time. Don’t let go”
They never did let go, and were still holding each other, that was the beginning of their beautiful friendship and romance

They were always by each sides, they went and got out of school together with Abby’s best friend Veronica, they shared good times and the bad times, every up and down. Slowly, Kellin was rising from his sadness and growing more in love with Abby, for every time he was with her.
Abigail, on the other hand, was unsure of her feeling towards Kellin.
Her whole perspective of him as just an annoying mischief maker who had ticked her off when they were younger had crumbled down. Now, he has been like the brother she never had, her knight in shining armor, he had known and understand all of her, she accepted his weaknesses and strengths.

Unusually, her insides begin to churn when she sees him,
She fights the urge to get her fingers tangled in his raven black hair, to get lost in his eyes, listen to his soothing and unforgettable voice, and keep him all to herself
Abby she tried to shoo away this nonsensical emotions, and be sane and rational about this
This was very hard, because she kept on blushing and was nervous
It was impossible that Kellin could feel the same way…

One day, they were dismissed late, and the rain was overpouring
They were completely wet and tried to find shelter in a rackety bus shed.
The two were alone with each other, giving them a very awkward situation
Both were anxious about who was going to talk first and break the ice
The tension was high, and Abby was biting her lip
Kellin’s hands were clammed up and he was swallowing when he said

“Do you know that I found you as the prettiest, smartest, kindest girl in class, ever since third grade?”
Abby was going overdrive, and she just literally didn’t believe what she had just heard

“You were so cool, that every time I was just making things up in my head. Things that were about me and you, that’s why I was always scolded by the teacher. Okay I had this little, I mean big crush on you”
“I thought that if I were going to all these sorts of tricks and tease you, you would know of my existence and I don’t know…even notice that I liked you a lot; but you just thought me as one irritating cocky jerk, and believe me, I was”
Kellin wanted to restart time and wished that he never spat out those humiliating pieces of information, that he had been keeping a secret for a long time already.

“Then, I had the worst time of my life, my parents were constantly fighting and that made me rebel a lot, so they could avert their attention to me and just stop all the violence and hate they shared. That rebelling, caused straight F’s in my card and the lowest grade in conduct. I was angry and just mad all the time, people avoided me because they thought I was bad news. I didn’t care, but actually that cut me deep. Nobody was there for me, not one, until you came”



“You were my light, in the darkness I have been living through. You gave me hope, faith, and you became my only happiness. We turned out as friends, but I never told you what I had been hiding in my heart. I don’t know if you understand me right now or just feel disgusted or….Abby I….”
Abby placed a finger in his lips, shushing him, she spoke
“First things first, yes you were quite the jerk years ago. But doesn’t matter, it doesn’t change the way I feel about you…now, tomorrow, even for eternity. I can’t breathe every time I’m around you and my heart pounds violently, just as now I’m telling you these. I love you Kellin Quinn, and I ought you will always remember that”

“Well, I’ll always will”
Kellin pulled her close, and impulsively placed his lips against her.
“I love you Abigail Levine, be mine, only mine, and mine forever”
He kissed her again, then deeper, Abby sling her arms around him, she replied with a gleeful yes
“I will be your thunder and rain” Kellin laughedly said
And the two kids in love, remained there, feeling each other’s warmth and just melted to each other,as the thunder boomed and the lightning crackled.
