"Wow this is a shock...Wow I thought you were on tour?"
"Well I was and I had a few days off so I thought I'd come down and see Kat. Then she mentioned you were gonna be in getting a tattoo. So we decided to surprise you.
"Oh, So you weren't gonna come see me?" I asked he looked shocked that I'd picked up on that. "Dad you never see me, you don't even ask me what city I'm in anymore. You're always with Kat. As much as I love her, do I actually want to see my dad , for at least once a year."
"What's suddenly brought this on?" He placed his hand on my shoulder
I shrugged it off "Talking to Kat and realizing that she see's you way more than I do and I have to sit out there and pretend that I'm totally fine with that fact my dad doesn't see his on flesh and blood. When I'm really not. Dad you were rarely there through my childhood, I was cool with that because my dad was a rock star. That was awesome, it still is but now we can both travel. If you have enough time to see someone you've been with for 3 months, then I'm pretty sure you have enough time to see your daughter who's been in your life for 20 years. But I forgot I'm not banging you. I'm just a product of your mistake." I could feel the tears were ready to come, I tried to hold them back.
"Wow.... I just thought that you'd be off doing your own thing...being a rock star yourself. Creating a name for yourself"
"I'm not stupid. I know Kat tell's you this things. I bet you don't even know what's going on in my life"
"Well she hints at these things and yes I do"
"Ok what?"
"Your dating that Alex Gaskarth kid.. your band is doing really well getting signed last year."
"OH MY GOD. For fuck fucking sake we're not dating. There is not feelings. Dad you of all people should know when I've got feelings for someone. You don't even tweet me or text me or call me. Kat does."
"Exactly I'm your dad, I know you've got feelings for him, you've had them for a while"
I looked up at him and just sat on the couch in Kat's office and placed my head in my hands and started crying. Dad came over and just put his arm around me. "I've been in love with that kid since I was 14 and he has no idea. I can't tell him because it'll fuck up our friendship and my relationship and his. I don't know what to do."
"You cant do much for now. Just when it feels right for you. You two need to sit down and have a long talk about everything. I've known Alex since he was 15 and I know he's in love with you. And I'm not just saying that because I'm your dad. I know the look boys get when they're in love and he has it every time he's with you. Give it time" He pulled me in for a hug. "And I promise to make more of an effort" He whispered in my ear.
I retouched my make up and then walked out with my dad. He was going to come out to tonight's show, I was proper excited for him to see me play. I told Alex and Jack they were excited just to see my dad let alone him watch them play. Last my dad saw them play was in Zack's basement at a concert they played for the parents and me. We took a picture of Alex, Jack and I in the shop. I was in the middle smiling, Alex and Jack thought it be funny to stand on either side of me and kiss my cheeks. After we took the picture I told Alex it would be his fault if Jordan came full force at me. He replied with 'Anything for you' I shot a look to my dad and he gave me a look that could only have been the I Told You So look. We said goodbye to everyone and walked out of the shop. Planning to get some food before getting back to the bus, Andy was going to meet us at the restaurant. Alex's phone rang we could just tell it was Jordan. He told s not to wait up for him, Jack and I continued to the restaurant, when we got there Andy gave me a kiss. We sat down just having a casual conversation, I brought up the photo I tweeted he said he laughed it and was totally cool but Jordan was not.
"How do you know that?" I asked him
"I was on their bus with Jake just chilling with Matt."
"How mad was she?" Jack quickly asked as he saw I was getting mad about the fact Andy was hanging out Jordan.
"Well I'm pretty sure if she was a cartoon character she'd have steam coming out her ears" We all laughed. Time flew by and before we knew it, it was sound check time.
