Chapter One - Signs Misleading To Nowhere
Thursday Night
7pm - London
Alex’s POV
I opened my eyes slightly and gazed around the room. We were in the hotel room? I sat up and rubbed my eyes. I yawned as I walked over to the door and out onto the balcony. I scooped around the city of London.
“Beautiful, isn’t it?” a familiar voice spoke.
I turned around and saw Jack standing at the door. I smiled at him and walked over to him.
“What happened?” I asked.
Jack chuckled and put his arm around my shoulder as we walked back inside.
“You fainted when you found out Green Day were headlining Reading and Leeds” he explained.
“Oh” I replied.
I felt a blush form on my face and Jack just smirked at me.
“You’re easily embarrassed Lex” he chuckled.
“I know, I can’t help it” I mumbled.
Jack wrapped his arms around me and rested his chin on my shoulder. His embrace warming me up a little.
“Get a room” I heard Zack order.
“No, leave our romance alone” Jack whined.
I chuckled as Jack pulled away and we sat down. Our fans have come up with a ship name for Jack and I because we are so close. They call it Jalex and it is kind of fun. After all, if the kids don’t believe, then make them believe. I shook my head at my silly thoughts as Jack sat one of his legs over my lap and I put my arm around him.
“This is going on Twitter” Zack mused, pulling out his phone.
He snapped a photo and smirked. I rolled my eyes as Jack’s phone went off and he opened Twitter up to see the photo. It read “Jalex everybody” and I snorted with laughter. Jack laughed as he put his phone away and cuddled me.
“My Alex!” he roared.
Zack and I burst out laughing and I nearly dropped Jack on the floor.
“My sides!” Zack shrieked.
I tried to calm down because my sides were cramping and I had tears in my eyes.
“God, that was funny Jack” I chuckled.
“Aw but it was sweet right?” Jack questioned, pouting.
I scrunched up my face at the adorable look on his face and I smiled.
“Of course it was” I chuckled.
I heard the click of a door open and we turned as Rian appeared in the hallway.
“Hey guys we need to grab some quick showers and get dressed smart. But not over the top smart” Rian explained.
“Why?” Zack asked.
Rian looked at me and smirked.
“We’ve been invited to dinner by Green Day” he replied.
“No way” I mused.
“Yes way” Rian chuckled.
Wow, could tonight get any better?
*Time lapse one hour*
“Alex! Are you ready!” Jack called.
I walked out to the room him and I were sharing.
“Sure am” I replied.
“You look nice Lex” he whispered.
I smiled as I studied my attire. Black jeans, a white shirt with a grey waistcoat and some black converse. Jack had a black shirt and white jeans on with red converse.
“Same to you” I replied.
“Alex” Jack mumbled.
“Mm?” I replied, sorting my hair.
There was silence then Jack shook his head.
“Nothing man, I forgot” he sighed.
I grabbed Jack’s arm and pulled him up off the bed.
“You can tell me anything you know” I whispered.
Jack nodded and I smiled, wrapping my arm around his shoulder.
“Jack! Alex! Time to go! Let’s not keep them waiting!” Zack yelled.
I smiled at Jack and he squeezed my hand gently.
“You nervous?” he asked.
“Very” I replied.
“I’ll be right here” Jack mused.
I grinned as we walked into the hallway and left the room to catch up with Rian and Zack. We all got into the elevator and went up to the top floor where the restaurant was. Shit, I’m so nervous.
*Time lapse ten minutes*
We walked into the restaurant and it was pretty quiet. A waiter came up to us and asked if we had a reservation and Rian explained to her. She nodded as we were taken to a table by the window and we sat down. I was beside Jack and he was next to Rian, Zack next to Rian. I bit my lip as my nerves got even worse.
“Hi there” a gruff voice spoke.
I looked up as I saw Billie Joe Armstrong, Mike Dirnt and Tre Cool standing at the table. Rian stood up and shook their hands and Zack did the same. Billie scooted into the booth and was now sitting beside me.
“Hey man, you must be Alex” he said, holding his hand out.
“Y-yeah, that’s me” I stammered, shaking his hand.
“He’s a little nervous” Jack spoke.
“Aw man, you’ll be fine by the end of the night” Billie chuckled.
I could only hope so, I can’t believe I’m sitting next to my idol.
“So Alex are you excited for the festival?” Billie questioned.
“Totally, I mean, it’s going to be fucking awesome” I replied.
“That’s the spirit” he chuckled. “You just gotta relax man, y’know” he continued.
Jack chuckled.
“I love how you just say y’know a lot” he spoke.
Billie grinned and then let out a laugh.
“Can’t help it, y’know” he snorted.
Jack and I started laughing and I glanced over at Rian and Zack who seemed to be in a deep conversation with Mike and Tre.
“Looks like they clicked already” Jack issued.
“Hey, we click don’t we?” Billie joked.
I laughed as I picked up the menu and started looking at it.
“Of course we do man” I answered.
“You’re settling in alright now Alex” Jack whispered.
I nodded slightly and went back to looking at the menu. I guess just saying hello to Billie and shaking his hand made me feel better. Also his kind personality made me a little more relaxed. My mind however was still curious as to what Jack had forgotten before we left. I shook the thought away and put the menu down.
“So Alex, what got you into music?” Billie asked.
I looked at Jack then back at Billie.
“Jack did, we’ve been best friends for years now. One day he came up to me and said he wants to do music and asked if I wanted to join. It all kicked off there, we didn’t expect to get this far though” I explained.
Billie nodded.
“That’s sweet, reminds me of Mike and I as kids” Billie mused.
I smiled as I looked at Jack again and he grinned widely.
“Drinks anyone!” Tre yelled.
We all burst out laughing. Maybe tonight will be ok.
Jack’s POV
*Time lapse two hours*
It was about 10pm now and we all had eaten and we were just having a few drinks. Alex was definitely more relaxed now. He was also leaning against me slightly.
“So Jack, I’ve got a question” Billie spoke, a bit of a slur in his voice.
“Sure man” I replied.
Billie lent on the table a little. Rian, Zack, Mike and Tre were also in on the conversation.
“Are you and Alex, y’know” he mused, moving his finger from myself to Alex.
I was confused at first but then it clicked.
“No” Alex and I said in unison.
We looked at each other and I blushed slightly.
“Nah, Billie they just have a little bromance” Zack explained.
Billie chuckled and lent back in his seat.
“Ah yes, Mike, Tre and I have the same thing. Do your fans give you a ship name?” he asked.
“Jalex” Rian replied.
Dammit Rian.
“Cute” Mike teased.
I tried to hide the blush forming on my face.
“People give Billie and I the name Trillie” Tre laughed.
“And Mike and I are Millie” Billie snorted.
“If the kids don’t believe, make them believe” Alex mused.
“That’s a very good quote” Billie answered.
I smiled as I ran my hand along Alex’s lower back, he didn’t move a muscle.
“How do you guys fancy going to a nightclub?” Rian asked.
We all looked at him and I raised an eyebrow.
“Sounds great!” Mike and Billie exclaimed.
I sighed, great, I hate dancing.
*Time lapse one hour*
The pulsating music rung through my ears as I walked to our table with cocktails. I don’t know why we were here, I just wanted to go back to the hotel and relax. But, the guys insisted we go.
“Bout’ time Jack” Billie teased.
“The barmaid was slow as shit” I replied.
Alex laughed as I sat down beside him and handed him his cocktail.
“Thanks!” he yelled over the music.
I smiled and grabbed my drink as I took a sip. The DJ switched the music and I raised an eyebrow as I looked at Alex. Alex looked at me and smirked as I heard Kill The DJ by Green Day playing.
“Let’s go dance!” he yelled.
“I’m alright!” I replied.
“Oh come on!” Billie roared, grabbing Mike, Tre and Zack to take them to the dance floor.
I looked at Rian and he shrugged.
“I can’t dance dude cause of my back at the moment” he spoke.
“Please Jack! Please, please, please!” Alex begged.
I sighed as I put down my drink and grabbed Alex’s hand as we walked to the dance floor. I saw Billie, Mike, Tre and Zack ahead of us so we stood close to them. Alex and I started dancing slightly just to get into the feel of the music. I felt a pair of hands sit on my back but didn’t turn around.
“You guys should dance closer!” I heard Billie exclaim.
“Uh, I don’t think so” I replied.
“Oh come on! Lighten up Jack!” Billie roared.
I felt him push me forward a little and Alex looked at me.
“Alex turn around!” Billie ordered.
Alex did as he was told and turned around. Billie’s arms snaked around my waist as he grabbed Alex’s wrists and pulled him back. Alex was now against me and Billie started getting us into a swaying motion.
“Be a little risky” Billie whispered, placing my hands on Alex’s waist.
I don’t know why I felt so nervous, I mean Alex and I have sort of danced like this before.
“Now dance!” Billie yelled, as he danced away.
Alex and I were now swaying to the beat of the music and I lent forward a little. My chin rested on Alex’s shoulder.
“Are you alright Alex?” I asked.
“Of course! This is fun!” he replied.
I smiled as I wrapped my arms around Alex and he rested his hands on mine. I accidentally grazed my lips against Alex’s neck and he shuddered a little.
“Sorry” I whispered.
“It’s ok” Alex answered.
We continued to dance to the music and I was slowly starting to relax. I think the alcohol was setting in. I don’t know why I feel like this around Alex. Lately I’ve been feeling weird, like my mind is trying to tell me something but I won’t let it. The song finished and Alex turned around and smiled.
“That was fun” he chuckled.
I nodded as I smiled but I found myself looking down at Alex’s lips and him at mine. I felt a weird sensation in my stomach but I coughed awkwardly as Alex blushed slightly.
“Couple more drinks then we will head back?” Alex questioned.
“That would be great” I replied.
*Time lapse one hour*
I walked out of the bedroom as I slipped my beanie on. It was pretty cold right now at 12am. I saw Rian and Zack watching TV, but where was Alex?
“Hey guys have you seen Alex?” I questioned.
“He’s outside man” Zack replied.
I nodded as I walked over to the door, pulling the curtain back as I looked out at the city lights. I opened the door and stepped out on the balcony, closing the door behind me. I saw Alex standing by the railing and I walked over to him.
“Aren’t you cold?” I teased.
Alex turned around and I saw tears running down his cheeks. My smile disappeared as I stood in front of him.
“Hey what’s wrong?” I asked.
“I-I don’t know Jack, I really don’t know. I’ve been feeling so lonely lately” he sobbed.
“Oh Alex” I whispered.
I put my arms around him and pulled him close as he cried into my chest and I rubbed his back gently.
“Alex” I soothed.
“Y-yeah?” he replied.
“You’ll always have me. We’re always going to be best friends. I promise” I whispered.
Alex was silent for a bit, wrapping his arms around me and clenching my shirt.
“Thank you” he whispered quietly.
I held him tighter and then pulled away as I wiped the tears from his eyes. I hated seeing him cry.
“How about we get you to bed?” I asked.
Alex nodded as he grabbed my hand and I felt that tingling sensation again. I shook it off as we walked back inside to go to sleep. I hope Alex is better in the morning. He deserves to smile.
7pm - London
