Call Me Foolish, I Feel Hopeless
Give Me Any Reason To Believe, Because I'm Done Here
Jack Barakat
Watching in awe at Alex's performance, I could feel the pain in his voice. When he finished, I couldn't help but have one line stick in my head.
Love yourself so no one has to.
When he headed back to the cabin, I realized I have to beat him there or else he'll get suspicious why i'm up and about so early in the morning. Running to the cabin, I made it there in record time, pulling the covers over my head. A couple minutes later Alex walked in, trying to be quiet as possible. I pretended to turn in my sleep, so I was facing in his direction, my head under the blankets, but have one eye visible to see what he was doing. I watched as he pulled a pencil case from under his pillow? Alex opened the case with care, pulling a slim object from it.
A razor.
"What are you doing!" I yelled, making him drop it in surprise. I jumped onto his bed, holding his hands down.
"J-jack it's n-nothing!" Alex stuttered, his inhale intake increasing. His hands were shaking, trying to get away from my grasp. "Let go!" He screamed, flopping around his bed. I suddenly realized he was having some sort of attack. I let him go, running around the room for something to help. "Inhaler!" He screamed again, pointing to the drawer. I threw clothes around the room, finding the inhaler. I put it in Alex's mouth and he did the rest. After a couple puffs, his breathing was back to normal.
"You have some explaining to do." I said softly, not wanting the older boy to have a panic attack again.
"There's nothing to say. It's just a razor." He muttered, not looking in my eyes. "I didn't do anything with it."
"You would of if I didn't stop you." I exclaimed, making him go silent. "You need to explain."
"Damn it Jack! You don't know me, don't try to know me! It's not worth it!" Alex screeched running out of the room. I pulled a hand through my hair, sighing.
How to help a boy that doesn't want to be saved?
