Rhythm took off down the street and I'm standing there confused. The man who claims to be her real dad takes off down the street after her. My parent instinct kicks in and I sprint down the street after him.

"Get away from her!" I shout as I chase after him.

Rhythm stops and turns to us and I catch up to the man and tackle him. Rhythm shouts my name and her dad throws me off him.

"She's my daughter not yours!" He growls, punching me in the gut.

"You haven't been a great dad from what I saw! She's fucking afraid of you! I'm a better dad then you'll ever be!" I shout in his face. I'm about to hit him when someone lifts him off me. I look up and see Zack. I close my eyes and sigh of relief. I'm not going to die today. Thank god.

I open my eyes and someone is helping me up. I look to my right and see Jack. He wraps an arm around my waist and takes my hand.

"Are you okay, baby?" He asks. I nod and kiss him. Rhythm runs over to me.

"Alex! Are you okay?" She asks. I nod and realize she didn't say dad. I look to the left and see Zack and her actual dad. She looks over at them.

"R-Rhythm. There's n-no way he's you a-actual father." I stutter. When he threw me I hit my head and my arm and he punched my stomach. So I'm in a lot of pain.

"He is, Alex. He just... he never treated me right." She says. Jack rubs my side and I look at Rhythm.

"Who's is going to be, Rhythm?" Her dad says. "Me or him?" She looks a bit overwhelmed and she looks over at me.

"Whoever you choose won't hurt me at all. But it'll hurt me knowing that he'll hurt you." I say to her. She bites her lip and looks back and forth; from me to him.

I feel bad... I mean I don't expect a 13 year old girl to decide which parent to pick. Even though one hurts her.
