Zack, Rian, Flyzik and I all had the station to ourselves tonight. Everyone went out to their families for the night and that left us to just watch the building. We were all best friends so that settled the argument on who was staying. Plus we all lived on our own and didn't really have a family to go home to. So that's why we're here. So what do we do? Break shit.

"Break shit

This was the music that soon turned into a 4 person mosh pit in the game room actually breaking shit. Whoops.

It was 3 weeks later and I finally got a phone call from the hospital. I didn't wanna just walk in and ask for Jack cause I wasn't actually sure if he really wanted to see me. But I finally got the call I wanted saying he was being released and needed to be picked up and guess who he wanted to pick him up?

ME

So I jumped off the couch and ran to the bathroom to take a shower and get dressed so I didn't smell like the station even though it wasn't that bad. Just smelt like rubber and sweat.

The ride down to the hospital consisted of blasting Green Day and New Found Glory. Really some of the only music I listen to in my truck.
Pulling up to the hospital, Jack was already out front sitting on the bench in just a white T-shirt and basketball shorts that I know the hospital gives out. I thought for a min why he was wearing that, then oh.

I pulled up in front of him and got out and opened the door for him and helped him in cause the car was pretty far off the ground and he was probably sore, but not once did he look me in the eye.

I started the car and drove off down the road trying to figure out how to start the conversation.

"Hey, Jack? Where do you wanna go?"

He hesitated for a bit before answering. "Um, I don't have a place to stay... My parents and sister flew up to Lebanon without me..."

My mouth dropped.

"Jack? How do you feel about... Um... Staying with me for a bit? Like, I normally stay at the station since i'm almost never home but my room that I share with Flyzik has an extra bed that my little sister uses when she visits. Do you remember him?"

Jack smiled but shook his head. "That'd be great, Lex. But no, I don't remember him. Who was he?"

"He was the EMT that was with me that night"

Jack flinched but nodded kinda shifting in his seat.

"Jack? Do you have anything left? Like clothes, belongings, anything?"

All I got was a mumbled 'no' and that's all it took for me to make a sharp turn to the nearest mall.

Walking in to the mall kinda freaked Jack out a bit. I knew why so I gave him my beanie and jacket to help. He didn't have much of his hair left, it was long in some parts and bald in others, and then really short in other places. I'm sure he'll let me take him to get it cut when he wants.

I thought about what to get him and figured let him choose. We went to hottopic and learned he loved Blink, Green Day, and a lot more bands that I did too. So I got him some band shirts and we left to go to Zumies to get some beanies and jeans for him. He was more than happy with all this stuff.

"Lex, you didn't really need to buy me all this."

I scoffed. "Really Jack? Do you wanna be wearing that everyday for the rest of your life?"

"No, but I could get a job and pay for it myself."

He said that a little depressed and I knew he didn't want a job. At least not right now, or for a while.

"Uh huh, see I know you enough already. Let's go"

We walked into the food court and I got us some Chinese food and we began to eat peacefully enjoying each others company.

"Jack?"

"Hmmm?"

"You're going to be okay, right?"

He just shrugged, still not once looking me in the eye.
We finished eating sooner or later and I noticed Jack was getting tired.

"Let's getcha back to the station so you can sleep, okay?"

"Okay"

Walking him into the station was a breeze but seeing Captain Davis was there caught me off guard. If he knew Jack was from the fire he'd be pissed.

"Gaskarth! Who is this?" Captain Davis said motioning to Jack.

"Oh, uh... This is my friend. He's just going to stay in Flyzik and I's room for the night, okay?"

"Oh, okay. That's fine"

"Thank you so much Captain!"

We started to walk away before Captain caught our attention again.

"Oh and Gaskarth?"

"Yes sir?"

"You better be lucky you weren't here when I got back" He said nodding his head inside. I was confused until I walked in seeing Zack, Rian and Flyzik hanging upside down from the pull up bars bright red in the face, then seeing trash bags and a broom next to the wall filled with all the vases.
