Remembering Sunday
Chapter 26
Around 10 mins later I looked up to Jacks eyes fluttering open. I scooted my chair over to the side of his bed.
"Don't try and talk. You have a tube down your throat." I said softly while rubbing his hand.
Jack looked confused and kinda mummbled something but wound up couphing.
"Told you." Jack just glared and I laughed.
"Ah Jack, you're awake!" Nurse Jenna said as she walked into the room and began to wash her hands before pulling on a pair of gloves.
"I'm going to take the tube out now."
My eyes widened cause I know what this feels like. It doesn't feel good at all.
"Uh oh." I said and Jack looked at me weird.
I just grabbed Jacks hand and Nurse Jenna began to swiftly pull it out of Jacks throat and it made Jack cringe and cough. A lot once it was all out.
"Ow." was all Jack said when it was out. His voice was very raspy and I handed him a glass of water.
"Are you in any pain?" Nurse Jenna asked and Jack nodded.
She administered some pain medication into his IV and Jack smiled softly at her muttering a 'thank you'.
"Alex I need to tell you how to clean his wounds." She said sitting next to me as she pulled off Jacks blanket revealing a semi naked Jack making him blush. I smiled at him and held his hand. He didn't want a repeat of the first night I met him.
"Ok for his face, you just need to put patroleum jelly on it okay? There's no need for gauze. But for his legs, chest, and arms, after he takes a shower, pat it dry for him and then put patroleum jelly then wrap it back up with gauze . You need to do that after every time he takes a shower."
I nodded taking in everything she was saying. I looked up at Jack seeing he was fast asleep and I chuckled a little bit before giving my attention back to Jenna.
"Now he may run a fever but that's totally normal. If it goes about 101.2 call the hospital. Don't give him advil. I have a prescription for pain medicine waiting at your drug store already. Give him one tablet every two hours or so. I'll let you two get home, okay?"
"Okay thanks so much." She nodded and walked out of the room after pushing in a wheel chair for me to put him in so I can take him to my truck.
I was scared of hurting him so I kissed him awake and told him to get in the wheel chair. He nodded and slipped into it quickly leaning his head back against my arm and falling back asleep.

I was disturbed during making dinner to hear crying from upstairs. I set down the knife I was using to cut up chicken and walked upstairs.
"What's wrong baby?" I asked sitting next to Jack.
"Hurts."
I nodded and walked to the bathroom to get his pain medicine and handed it to him with a glass of tea. He took it and carefully wiped away the tears in his eyes.
"Want me to carry you down stairs so you can sit on the chair and watch tv while I finish making dinner?" I asked quietly and he nodded.
I carefully picked him up with a few pillows and a blanket and walked down to the living room and sat him down on the fluffy recliner while I went back to cooking dinner.
