I've Waited All My Life For A Love Like This

Chapter 3

It was the Sunday just after the 'get together' we had at Rian's place, and since the Baltimore weather was unusually kind to us during the weekends, I was sat on the floor at the park with Jack. We had our own little area set up, well, if you could call it that, it amounted to Jack's guitar case and a few lyric books dumped on a blanket we were sat on. I was laid on my back watching the clouds go by, taking in the sounds from the playground and the cars on the road nearby, just enjoying the peacefulness. That was until Jack decided to have his say in everything again.

"Hey bro, Tay was so into you on Friday, you're in there!" He yelled out, gaining a few disapproving coughs then looks from your stereotypical overprotective mothers, Jack just brushed them off though and turned back around to be excitedly.

"Dude, she asked for your number and everything, plus she didn't leave you for the whole night since you started talking!" Jack continued excitedly.

"That doesn't mean anything bro, I have your number, it doesn't mean I'm going out with you-"

"Oh but you are." Jack cut in with a suggestive wink.

"No. As I was saying, she only wanted my number so we could stay in touch and it wasn't like she was alone with me for long, for the most of the night I was sat with Mike and Cameron too, who are her best friends, so she was probably there because of them and asked for my number so she didn't seem rude." I continued, trying to get my point across to Jack that Tay liked me as nothing more than a friend.

"I was talking to her too, she didn't ask for my number! And Mike and Cameron walked off after five minutes, just stop it, YOU'RE IN THERE BRO!"

"Who's in there with who?" Jordan asked with a laugh, suddenly appearing from behind us along with Tay. Wait, Tay. Oh crap, this isn't gonna go well.

"Oh I was just saying how A-"

"How Cassadee and Rian are going to get married when they leave school, Rian's right in there, there's no way Cass would say no if he proposed." I interrupted Jack, thankful he didn't get too much of that sentence out before I could cut in.

"That's true. Even after only meeting them last night I could tell how in love they are. It's so cute but so sickly at the same time." Tay joined in with a laugh.

We continued on our conversation for quite a while, the topic changing every so often, Jack being taken the piss out of every other sentence, Tay's cute giggle joining every time that happened. I was in one of the happiest moods I'd been in for quite some time, but that could all change in a matter of seconds, and with my luck, that's just what it did.

"Mommy! Come push me on the swings! Higher mommy, higher!" A young child's laughter caught everyone's attention. Jack and Jordan were aware of how much I envied the children who got to go around running all over the place and got the perfect childhood. I've been in my wheelchair since I was six years old so I missed out on a lot of the typical childhood activities, sure I had a few years of it but that's still an awful lot I missed.

"You okay Alex?" Jordan questioned in a concerned voice, I looked over at him to see him smiling, hoping to cheer me up a bit I'm guessing.

"Yeah, I suppose. Just wish I'd got to be able to do that..." I trailed off with a sad smile.

"Who said you can't?" Jordan asked with a smirk. "Jack get the guitar, blanket and books, Tay grab the chair." Jordan instructed as he took me into his arms bridal style. I squeaked from the surprised of suddenly being airborne, but I was soon being placed down onto one of the swings and being pushed forward at a great force by Jordan. I squeaked again and I could hear Jack and Tay giggling away from behind me.

"Okay Jordan, I get it, I can still swing!" I got out with a laugh while also gasping for breath. Jordan slowed the swing down as I sat there laughing.

"Never too old for anything." Tay smiled at me as she leaned in towards my lips. Wait, what? Before I had time to question myself Tay's soft lips were pressing against my chapped ones, then were gone again in a flash. The second Tay pulled away a loud car horn was heard from the road beside the park.

"Oh, that's my mom. Nice hanging with you guys!" Tay yelled as she ran off towards the car with a quick wave thrown back at us.

The second Tay was in the car and they were sure the car was out of earshot Jordan and Jack turned towards me with he biggest shit eating grins on their faces ever.

"Dude, you're SO in there!" Jack screamed out "She kissed you, it wasn't like you were dropping any hints towards her or anything either!"

"I'm gonna go ahead and say you're in there, Tay doesn't kiss just anyone, Alex." Jordan joined in. "All I'm gonna say is that if you decided you do wanna go out with Tay, be careful okay? She hasn't had the best past with guys, I honestly don't think she could handle anything else like that so soon after, no offence to you, dude."

"It was just a pity kiss, okay?"

"It so wasn't!"

"Yes it was."

"No, it was no-"

"Okay, shut up Jack, it wasn't a pity kiss then."

At that Jack just grinned and started gathering his books into his messenger bag and hung his bag off of the back of my chair. Jordan just laughed and walked off in the other direction, his hands up in surrender, laughing all the while.

"Come on you womaniser, time to get you home."
