Sanctuary - Side 2

One of my Favorite Days

It’s only three days till the boys and I leave to tour in the UK for three weeks. Since Abby is working the next few days until I travel to the UK, we’re spending the day together. I know I’ll be sleeping next to her until then, but we need quality time together.

“What do you wanna do today?” I asked as she did her hair.

I was sitting on our bed waiting for her to finish getting ready.

“I don’t know.” she said, sighing.

“Come sit.” I said, patting the spot next to me.

She finished her hair seconds later and sat next to me with me pulling her ever so close. I kissed the top of her head and she laid it on my shoulder. I knew exactly how I was feeling and what I needed without even asking her. Tears ran down her face and she sniffled. I heard my phone ring and she started to move away, but I never moved; she needs me.

“You can answer that.”

“It can wait.”

“It could be important.”

“They can leave a voicemail. You’re more important.”

She moved back toward me and smiled.

“A drive.” she said.

“I like the sound of that.”

After another minute, she separated from me and kissed me rather passionately.

“I love you.” she said, crawling into my lap.

“I love you, too. Are you sure you want to go for a drive?”

“There’s plenty of time for sex, Alex.”

She kissed my jaw and teased me.

“Abby...”

She smirked and got off my lap. I reached for her, but she just walked away and laughed.

“You’re mean.”

“I know. You ready?”

“Yeah.”

While she grabbed her purse, I took a peek at my phone.

“Who was it?”

“Just my mom. I’ll call her back later.”

“You sure?”

“Yeah. She just likes to call and check up on me.”

“I get it.”

Soon enough, we were out the door and in my car.

“What do ya want to listen to?” I asked.

“You choose.”

“You sure?”

“Well, I'd end up putting my music on shuffle and we all know what there’s a shitload of in my library.”

“Ok. I’ll pick.”

I put my music on shuffle and it started to play. In This Diary by The Ataris.

[insert lyrics]

She squealed which caused me to laugh.

“I love this! Can I turn it up?” she said in a high-pitched voice.

“Of course. Can you promise me something?”

“Absolutely. What is it?”

“Could you stay this happy while I’m gone? I love this Abby.”

She smiled.

“That shouldn’t be an issue.”

I know this is one of her favorite songs, so I was fine with letting her revel in it. She began singing the song at the top of my lungs as I pulled out of the driveway. We headed to a hole in the wall she found years ago and hadn’t been to in a couple years. She tugged on my hand as we walked toward the restaurant much to my amusement. It was a place where you sat yourself and were waited on quickly.

“Welcome lovebirds. I’m Whitney. What can I get you to drink?”

“Iced tea, please.” I said.

“Lemonade, please.”

After she left, Abby spoke up.

“What are you hungry for?”

“I have no idea. You?”

“Tuna melt. That’s what I got last time I was here.”

“I don’t get the obsession with tuna melts. They look weird.”

She laughed.

“Well, some of the weirdest foods are some of the most delicious foods. That is one of them.”

I shrugged.

“Still not interested.”

“Ok. I tried.”

When our waitress came back a couple minutes later, I was still undecided.

“Just get the chili cheeseburger. You’ll love it. Trust me.”

“I’ll get that then.”

“And I’ll have the tuna melt, please. Thank you.”

She handed her our menus and turned back to me.

“I’m making you try mine.”

“Good luck with that, babe.”

She smirked and shook her head.

“It’s gonna happen.”

I rolled my eyes. Why I was so insistent, I’ll never know. When Abby came back from the restroom a few minutes later, she came back to see a woman walk past me who was supposedly eyeing me up.

"What was that about?"

"That skank was looking at you like you were a piece of meat."

So?

"Stuff like that doesn't bother me."

"Well, it's gotta bother you about men looking at me like that."

"Of course, it does. I'd be a horrible fiancee if it didn't, especially since that night."

She sighed.

"I get what you're saying."

This is when that woman walked passed our booth. Abby glared at her again, displaying her ring which turned the woman's gaze away from me.

"That's right. Keep on walking."

"Abby." I scolded.

"What?"

"That was going too far."

"No. It wasn't. I could've gotten in her face, but I restrained myself. Seeing as I can be quite the bitch and confrontational, I find that tame."

"It was uncalled for."

We sat in silence aside from when our food came which was a period of ten minutes, a long and awkward silence.

"Talk to me." I said.

She cut a piece of her food and put it in her mouth and began chewing. She took a sip of lemonade and placed it back down while I kept my gaze on her.

"Could you quit staring at me? I always know when you're looking at me."

She started to bounce her leg up and down which was an indicator of her anxiety.

"Abigail."

"Alexander."

I touched her knee, trying to calm her down.

"I know you."

"...too well. Can you just admit that I was right?"

"No. I won't. Because I’m right.”

She rolled her eyes. She can be so frustrating and stubborn sometimes.

“I’m sorry I acted like that, but I couldn’t stand her looking at you like that even when she saw that you were with someone. It was disgusting.”

I shrugged.

“Yeah. She was definitely disgusting, but I don’t let that get to me like the way it did with you.”

“You really wouldn’t act like that around a douchebag?”

“Unless he touched you or said something, I wouldn’t.”

“Ok. Are we good now? Because I hate arguing with you.”

“Although, it can lead to great things.” I said, raising an eyebrow.

She playfully rolled her eyes.

“Horndog.”

I laughed.

“It’s true.”

“I know.”

She smirked.

“I’m gonna get you to taste this whether you like it or not.”

She got a forkful and told me to open my mouth.

“Here comes the airplane. Open wide.”

I resisted laughing and actually opened my mouth. She smiled as she watched me chew.

“Is that good, sweetie?” she said, trying to keep a straight face.

“Yes. It’s very good.”

“Told ya. Fiancée knows best.”

“I love you, you weirdo.”

“I love you, too.”

After lunch, we headed to my car to figure out where we were gonna go next.

“Would you be up for hiking?”

I love hiking but knowing she is on her feet all day, I wouldn't be surprised or upset if she wasn't up for it.

“Sure.”

“Really? I’m shocked.”

Or maybe I would be.

“I’m willing to do anything if it makes you happy.”

I turned and kissed her.

“There’s a trail close by, maybe ten minutes down the road.”

When we go there, she was in awe of the beauty of it. Sure, she's gone past here before, but never gotten out of her car to truly experience it.

“Ready? You’re in for quite the walk.”

“Absolutely.” she said, taking my hand.

And off we went. The trail was smooth and it wasn’t noisy while we were walking aside from the birds in the trees. It was nice being away from the busyness of the city and was certainly something we needed.

“You’re very smart.” she said.

“How am I so smart?”

“You know. I’m talking about this idea with hiking.”

“Well, if you hadn’t suggested going for a drive, we wouldn’t be here. You get half the credit.”

She smiled. She took a long sip of her water and put it back twenty minutes later.

“Wanna take a break?” I asked.

“Would you mind?”

“Not at all.”

“Good.”

We sat down on a bench and she leaned back.

“We can go back if you’re too tired.”

“I’m good. I’m on my feet for usually nine hours a day.”

I nodded.

“You can always rub my feet when we get home if they’re sore though.” she said, biting her lip.

“That would be a pleasure.”

“An absolute pleasure.” she whispered into my ear.

“Tease.”

She got up and started to walk away like she did this morning, but I caught up to her and wrapped my arms around her stomach causing her to giggle.

“You’re not getting away from me this time.” I said into her hair.

She touched my hands and kept them there.

“How are we gonna keep walking if you won’t let me go?”

"I'll figure something out."

She laughed.

"Whatever you say, Alex."

Seconds later, I unraveled from her and took hold of her hand instead.

"This works too."

She kissed my cheek.

"You're incredibly sweet. You know that, right?"

I smiled and nodded while squeezing her hand.

"Wanna take a selfie, babe?" I asked.

"Absolutely."

We posed for what must've been the cutest selfies ever.

"That's a keeper."

We must've been out on a hike for an hour when we decided to head back to the car.

"What time is it?" she asked.

"Three o'clock."

"Fuck."

"You okay?"

"I'm tired. I shouldn't be. I'm 28 and work on my feet all day. It's only been a couple hours."

"We can go home and order in if you'd like."

She buried her face into my chest.

"I don't know." she whined.

I laughed.

“Shut up.”

I wrapped my arms around her; after a minute, she let go.

“Let’s get to the car.” she said.

Once in the car, she reclined her seat back, took her shoes and socks off and propped her feet off on the dashboard. I was amused.

“I need just a few minutes and I’ll be good.”

“Ok.”

She shut her eyes for only a moment when she heard my phone.

“Who’s it?”

She drifted off a second later; my hand on her thigh startled her.

“Abby?”

“Yeah?” she said groggily.

“Were you having a good dream? You looked really happy.”

“I did?”

“Yeah. You had a smile on your face. Sorry I woke you. I didn’t mean to.”

“It’s okay.”

“What were you dreaming about?”

“Our wedding day...”

She was smiling all over again.

“Sounds like a great dream.”

“The best dream I’ve ever had and it gets to come true next month.”

I smiled and kissed her. She pulled me toward her by my shirt and I crawled into her lap.

“I like this position.” I whispered into her ear.

My lips were dangerously close to her neck.

“So do I.”

I pressed those lips onto her neck and moved my hips against hers causing her to moan. She wrapped her arms around my neck and moved her head.

“Alex.”

I looked back at her and I crashed my lips onto hers.

“How do you feel about having sex right now?” I asked.

“Well, I never really thought about it till now. What do you think?”

“It may be a little cramped, but I like the idea.”

“Here or backseat? I’m thinking backseat.”

“Me too.”

I slipped off her lap and moved to the backseat while she followed. We stripped as fast as we could and not even a minute later, I was on top of her.

“Ready?” I asked, running a hand through her hair.

“Yes.”

A second later, I was inside her and she dug into my back.

“Oh my God.” she said.

This is fucking amazing. Close proximity is the best when it comes to sex.

“I love this. I love you.”

I moved in and out while her moans became louder and louder.

“I love you. Too.” I moaned breathlessly.

Several thrusts and moans later, we came and were out of breath. I laid my head into the crook of her neck and she proceeded to touch my sweaty hair.

“That was amazing.” she said.

“You can say that again.” I said, pressing my forehead against his

She kissed me.

“Do you wanna go home and eat? We’re sweaty as hell.”

“Yeah, but I’m not ready to move yet.”

“Yeah.”

Ten minutes later, we finally moved and dressed ourselves before I started the car. When we got home, Abby immediately went to take a shower while I let the dogs out. Five minutes later, I opened the bathroom door.

"Someone's hungry."

"You have no idea."

The look in my eyes was intense and her body was having trouble controlling itself.

"Fuck me and fuck me now." she growled.

After our second round of sex, I hoped we'd get another before we went to bed because hell, that would be the perfect ending to a nearly perfect day.
